reallygrumpy · 07/09/2010 09:14

Hey all, I hadn't realised there were so many posters on here who are pg as a result of clomid, it gives me hope to hear about all these positive stories and I hope you're all having healthy pregnancies.

Well AF arrived on sat so I started 100mg of clomid yesterday and feel crap, headachy and tired and far worse than on 50mg. I've just rung and registered for treatment so I'm booked for a scan next Tuesday. I'm thinking of having acupuncture too.

reallygrumpy · 07/09/2010 16:36

cloudy and highheels if you're both teachers you might be able to get private fertility tests and treatment through benenden healthcare. Benenden's a mutual society (not for profit) for public sector workers, my cover for me, dd and dh is £18 per month and they'll fund the costs of tests if you'll have a long wait on nhs. They also have a fertility centre and members get cheaper ivf. I don't know if you have to be a member for a certain length of time to be eligible but it might be worth giving them a call.

Ladybird10 · 07/09/2010 18:46

Wow lots of teachers on this thread :)

Jo you will definately be bringing this baby home, how exciting.

Pops glad the hospital are looking after you. It will nice for you to see your bubs again at 16 weeks. Has the sickness eased off yet?

Hope all the ladies on clomid are ok, the horrible symptoms will all be worth it in the end.

stac hope your ok?

Lots of baby dust

Hi all.

Hope you got on ok at the hospital Stac. DS has ben pretty mixed about me being pg, which has made me feel incredibly guilty and selfish.

fairy congrats on the metformin. What changed their minds?? Have you started it yet?

Highheels half term will be in bout 7 weeks then a week off. Think i'd beon my knees if i had to do 9 weeks without a break :)

stac14 · 08/09/2010 20:54

i'm not diabetic anymore thankfully, the doc i saw said metformin doesnt help you loose weight but i did when i was on it so going to my gp x

Fairygodmother1 · 08/09/2010 21:44

pops It was a different consultant. Started it Tuesday & only 1 tablet a day for a week then 2 for a week then 3 a day after that! Know what you mean about work!

Stac I was put on it to help me lose weight. They just can't agree.

highheelsandequations · 08/09/2010 21:44

Hi all,

How are we? I'm still waiting to hear from the clinic about what I'm supposed to do next. In the meantime I have my first acupuncture appoointment tomorrow, simultaneously excited and terrified. No signs of ovulation yet without the clomid this cycle so starting to lose hope a little, still I suppose we'll wait and see.

really thanks for the info, might investigate that.

fairy hope the metformin works for you, I've heard good things about it.

stac good news about the diabetes, hope Rilegh's jabs go okay. I'm in Fife.

emmy I don't think we've met, hi

pops the worst terms for us are 12 or 13 weeks from Christmas to Spring holiday then another 12 weeks from Spring to Summer, that makes 9 seem a doddle!

Hope everyone else is okay.
xx

stac14 · 08/09/2010 23:38

fairy thats what the fertility cons told me but the doc i saw today was a diabetic doc who didnt seem to believe that met could help pcos'ers (made up words oops) so thats why i'm going to see my gp. They get you to build it up so it doesnt affect your tum so much.

Thanks highheels i was gestational diabetic and had to be on insulin so i was relieved its gone.

Don't want to frighten anyone but the doc said women with pcos are a higher risk at getting gestational diabetes, it doesnt cause you or the baby harm as it occurs in the 3rd trimester. The only thing is it means big babies. Rileigh was born by elective c-section @ 38wks because they knew she would be big and at 9lb 12 if she had been term then she would have been about 12lbs. Anyway just make your mw aware you have pcos and to look out for it. Soz for waffling i am shattered. Night x

cloudwine · 09/09/2010 11:42

highheels- I couldn't do secondary, they would all be taller than me!

grumpy- can I join you in feeling grumpy please? My period came on Tues, on the same day that I went back to work, and the day ds started 'big' school..... far too much for my fragile emotions to deal with in one sitting Sad Thanks for the info on healthcare. Do you know whether anyone at work needs to know if I am able to go for it?

Month 5 of clomid for me now, only 2 more months left. found out that my progesterone level has gone up to 60 for last month, so feeling positive that 100mg was the right dose for me Smile

fairy- congrats on getting the metformin, fingers crossed it's good for. Don't know much about it, what is it used for? Sorry if I'm being thick!

Hi to everyone else, hope you're all ok. Hi to emmy, we've not 'met' before.

cloudwine · 09/09/2010 11:46

stac- I forgot to say how impressed I am that you have a new baby, and you manage to type coherently at almost midnight! Dh says I'm doing well if I can string an intelligent sentence together after 9pm Grin

jobobpip08 · 09/09/2010 19:41

hi fairy good news about the metformin.

emmy apart from seeing if there is a blockage, the lap and dye can help clean out your tubes - I know a few people who got pregnant after having it done.

cloud progesterone level sounds really good

high hope the acupuncture went well

pops poor DS, it must be worrying for him but don't feel guilty or selfish, you are neither. Our DS has been rather indifferent to it all although he does seem to be getting into it more.

stac glad to hear you've got a clean bill of health. Time is flying by for me, I'm fairly organised having alot of stuff already.

lady hope all is well with you

We've had a great day, the schools were closed for our annual air display which is always brilliant, we get a really good selection of civil and military planes plus the Red Arrows. I'm not a big plane spotter but this is just fantastic to watch (and catch up with friends!). They fly over a large bay which is a great natural arena. And although DS couldn't sit in a helicopter this year, he did sit in a Harrier so was delighted. And tomorrow when we walk to school the French display team (second of course to the Red Arrows and miles ahead of the Belgian team who only had 4 planes, bless) will fly over us on their way back to France.

Cloudy Apparently it helps my body cope with insulin as the PCOS doesn't. That'll help me lose weight which should in turn sort out my cycle & promote fertility!!! Or so I am told!

Stac you are making my eyes water!!!! 12lb!!!!!

Jo Glad you are well. When does Mat Leave begin??

confu3ed · 09/09/2010 22:39

Sorry to gatecrash ladies but having a bad day and could do with some help. Has clomid made anyone elses bodies play cruel tricks on them and made you think you migh be pregnant when you are not? Mine did this month and now I feel awful like I will never get a positive pg test, in fact I am giving up on them, I vow never to pee on another stick unless my av is very overdue as negative test after negative test sucks!!!

I am glad to read that so many of you have had success on clomid as makes me think that I should not throw n the towel yet! Did 50mg work for anyone or was it only when the dose went up?

Sorry to ask so many ?'s just feel so anxious about the whole thing. Other half (sorry not sure about acronyms/abbreviations) thinks that I am putting too much pressure on this and thinking about it too much and that's why I have not got pg yet! Anyone else had this??

HighHeels you have had such a rough ride, it's crazy to hear how treatment varies so much from place to place!

Can't believe there are so many ladies with oxox on here too, let's hope that there is luck just round the corner for all of us, and

confu3ed · 09/09/2010 22:40

Sorry damn iPhone. Meant to say pcos not Oxox!!! Xx

confu3ed · 09/09/2010 23:02

Couldn't finish my sentence either, awful especially as lots of you are teachers! Anyway I hope everyone is well big time babydust to you all x

Fairygodmother1 · 10/09/2010 21:25

Confu3ed that happened every month I was on clomid & my body has been cruel ever since!!!
Do you have PCOS too!

Well the mets aren't doing anything yet!!! Still bleeding (3 weeks) & now done my back in so can't even walk!!! Argh bad weekend I feel!

highheelsandequations · 11/09/2010 14:59

Hi everyone,

Quick post as we're due to go to a bbq soon (although I just want to curl up with my book really). Heard back from my consultant, he said that seeing as the 25mg worked (ie made me ovulate) last month there was no need to up the dosage so now need to book my HSG. Acupuncturist was really positive that she thought the treatment would work for me and it left me feeling very relaxed (to the point of being nearly asleep) although I've felt a bit yucky since, but she did say that I might feel run down or ill due to nasty stuff leaving my system. Need to run. Hope everyone is good and enjoying their weekends. Back tomorrow to catch up properly.

xxx

Fairygodmother1 · 11/09/2010 17:35

Fingers crossed for you highheels. xxx

Hi everyone, I'm also a newbie with lots of questions, sorry! My main one, though, is if anyone has been prescribed clomid with a blocked fallopian tube. I have one from an ectopic pregnancy 5 years ago (before I had DD, now nearly 4, who was conceived within 4 months). Have been TTC for 14 months with no joy Sad.

DH and I have been through the tests etc and the only problem they can point to is that my tubes may not be working properly - apparently whatever caused the ectopic may also be affecting my other tube, though it appeared to be clear on the HSG. I did get a BFP the cycle I had the HSG, which miscarried very early Sad. I also have 4-5 days of premenstrual spotting, which the consultants say is not an issue, but this isn't what I read!

Anyway, the last time we saw the consultant, 6 months ago he said, 'give it 6 months and then we can try IVF'. He was also going to put me on clomid first but I was still bf DD at the time. Have stopped bf now and wondering whether to go back and try to get clomid before going down the IVF path. I'm 37, so time is not on my side, though my FSH was apparently reassuring.

Sorry, this has turned into a rant Blush. My main question is whether clomid is likely to help given the potential tubal problems. One of the reasons I am keen to try is that I have heard it 'corrects' the second phase of the cycle and I'm still convinced I have problems there...

Any experiences to share gratefully received!
