Confu3ed so so sorry for you. Such a disappointment but never give up hope. It will make it all the more special when it happens. Hope you're ok. Keep positive.

safarimmama I'm not sure if I will tell my doctor but will prob have to if I ovulate. Bit frustrated as DH didnt get doing his sperm sample as we are so busy with new puppy and now its baby dancing time so he will have to wait a couple of weeks..! Have no clomid left so have to get back to doctor soon! Got my day 2 bloods done and all normal thankfully.

babybunz good luck on the clomid. I've just taken my second round (day 2-7). Fingers crossed.

Waves to everyone else!

x

Thanks, Warlin!
Anxious for my scan tomorrow. I know what you mean about being impatient!! hope everything looks ok. Will let you know how it goes...fingers crossed.

Hi to everyone else! How is everyone doing?

CrystalLil · 28/01/2011 21:28

Hello - I'm new to MN and new to clomid. I live in New Zealand. I have PCOS so my cycles are usually super-long (70+ days) if left to their own devices. This is my first clomid cycle, CD2-7. The fertility place at the hospital got me to test my estradiol levels yesterday (CD12) and when I phoned up to get the results, they told me that the estradiol levels were lower than they were hoping for (137 - normal range 150-3000) and that this means I'm not responding to the clomid as well as I should be.

Does anyone know anything more about what this means? Am I right in thinking that they want me to be ovulating exactly on CD14 and - if this were the case - my estradiol levels would be 'surging' or something? I have read that plenty of people ovulate later than CD14 on clomid - esp. ppl with PCOS.

I also had some spotting today - CD13. Anyone know what that could be about? Doesn't sound like it's due to ovulation.

Thanks.

BabyBunz · 28/01/2011 21:57

Hi CrystalLil - I'm not sure of all of the details, but I know you do have to have an adequate amount of estradiol/estrogen to ovulate. It helps with the timing of your cycle and it also plays a part in building up your uterine lining. Are they going to do a scan to see if you have any good size follicles??

I'm on CD15 (clomid on days 5-9) and had a scan today...uterine lining looks good and they saw 4 follies ~10mm. RE wants them to be around 20mm so I go for another scan on CD19. Hopefully I will ovulate or he will give me a shot to force it....thought it was weird I wouldn't be ovulating until CD20 or 21?? But he said it was perfectly normal.

I've read it's normal to ovulate later on Clomid....but you're ovulation day also depends on the days you took it. Hmm

not sure what the spotting is about? it's not supposed to be a side effect of Clomid but i know there are a few people that get it.

CrystalLil · 29/01/2011 02:14

Thanks for your reply, Babybunz. They are not going to do any scans as far as I know - is that pretty standard in the UK (and US)? - I don't think it is in NZ - not unless you pay a lot of money for a fully monitored cycle (which I'm not!). They seem to use blood tests instead. It's a bit frustrating - I want to know more about what's happening but I suppose I will just have to be patient. Harumph.

BabyBunz · 29/01/2011 13:56

I'm in the US. It depends on your RE/Gyn. Some do scans, some rely only on blood tests to see if you ovulated. I guess we should be happy because some do no monitoring at all.

I know it's really frustrating! I'm very impatient myself....when you count the days, the cycle seems to drag on and on...

good luck to you.

lily06 · 29/01/2011 17:49

Hello everyone,
Can I join you?

I'm just about to start clomid for the first time. I'm not being monitored at all, just a case of take the tablets days 2-6 and if I'm not pregnant then do the same next cycle etc for 3 cycles in total. After that I have to go back and see the consultant. I had an EP in Jan last year, then a MC in May. Waiting for my next cycle to start before I can start the clomid, so trying to learn as much as I can on here.

Lychees · 29/01/2011 19:17

Hello ladies, I'm not sure if I've ever posted on this thread before but I am waiting on AF to try my second month of Clomid and had a Q to ask .....

Under what circumstances would your consultant increase your dose of Clomid?

I was tracked last cycle [and had IUI] but I had one slow-growing follie and my IUI [performed really late on CD22] failed Sad. I'm wondering whether my dose needs to be upped.

safarimama · 31/01/2011 05:57

Hi Lychees - sorry to hear the IUI didn't work. My consultant increased the dose when he found I failed to respond to 50mg (my follicles just stopped growing). How big did your follicle get? I think if it can get above 16mm, then it's likely to contain an egg. Do you have PCOS? That can also effect the speed at which they grow. Are you on any other meds?

Hi Lily - Welcome to the thread and sorry about your previous losses. Let's hope that clomid works for you as it has done for so many ladies on this thread:)

I can't understand why doctors expect us to ovulate on day 14, and if we don't, something must be wrong! I was a bit annoyed when my doc decided to abandon my cycle at Day 17. I also felt it was to early (especially as in the previous cycle he let me go to Day 20 before triggering!). I was reading about this 'stair-step' approach with clomid, where if the follicles don't respond to the first round, then you take another 5 days worth later in the cycle. Has anyone tried this?

I finished my 10 days of progesterone a few days ago and now waiting to start clomid round 3 (100mg +met). Does anyone know how long it takes to get af after progesterone tablets? This will be my last round then think I'll be on to injectables...

Babybunz - I hear you, this waiting is so frustrating. I feel like this cycle has lasted forver! Hope those follies keep on growing:)

BabyBunz · 01/02/2011 17:22

Hi all,
Well disappointing news today on CD19. Had another scan today and my follicles stopped growing ~9mm. My RE is pretty sure I won't ovulate this cycle...So, they're starting me on Provera again so AF will show. They're also upping my Clomid dosage to 100mg days 5-9. He also said that if I don't ovulate on this cycle, they going to try a different medication. Already??! He's pretty agressive. I'm glad but a little nervous at the same time.

crystallil - any news?

hi lily06 - welcome and good luck on your first cycle.

Lychees - i think they upped my dosage simply because i didn't respond as well on 50mg. but some docs will do 50mg for a couple of cycles before increasing. or they may keep you on 50mg but add on other meds like folistim (sp?) to help your follies grow and an Ovidrel shot (to help follies grow and trigger ovulation).

safarimama - i had not heard of the stairstep approach before, but i think one of my friends did that. they discovered that she was ovulating later so they started the clomid later in her cycle. not sure of the reasoning for that, because wouldn't that make her ovulate even later?
For me, AF usually shows about 4 days after my last tablet of Provera.

Well on to cycle 2....i hate how i feel on Provera! Sad

BabyBunz · 01/02/2011 17:23

oh safarimama I misunderstood. stairstep approach is 5 days of clomid then 5 more days of clomid later in the cycle?? interesting...

safarimama · 02/02/2011 06:46

Hi Babybunz - do you mind me asking how old you are? Do you have PCOS? I read that clomid doesn't work that well on ladies mid 30s and above and that if you don't respond on 100mg, you are actually unlikely to respond on anything more. So looks like you have a good consultant. If this cycle doesn't work for me then I'm going to request to move on to FSH injections.

AFM...fortunately after 2 days of stopping the progesterone my af arrived:). Now on CD2 and first day of clomid. This is round 3 for me so really praying I'll get a BFP at the end of this cycle.

How's everyone else doing?

sweetsherry · 02/02/2011 08:01

Hi - CD28 here and BFN! I'm analysing every twinge and just waiting for AF to rear her head.

This is doing my head in..

Good luck everyone!

BabyBunz · 03/02/2011 00:50

safarimama - I'm 31...and I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS, but the doc says I have "some characteristics of PCOS." Before I went on the pill, I used to have long, regular cycles (~35 to 40 days). After I got off the pill, my cycles have been really messed up.

Really hoping I ovulate on 100mg!! If this doesn't work, my RE said he might try another oral medication, Femara, then maybe injectables.

Blackkat · 03/02/2011 01:13

Hello ladies,

I had six cycles of Clomid last year, after TTC#1 for 3 years, diagnosed with PCOS after lap&dye. 3 x 50mg and then 3 x 100 mg. Bloods taken every month (please insist on some form of test so you know dosage is right) and 2nd/3rd month I didn't ovulate on the 50mg, so dosage upped to 100mg, (only after I pestered!) After month 5 I stopped calling for the results bcs even though I was ovulating I hadn't fallen pregnant, and calling for the PG count each month was stressing me out. In month six, I stopped thinking about when I would ovulate and just concentrated on me and DH - and month six worked. So keep positive, look after yourself and try to relax. I know it's much easier said than done, but Clomid can work.

(Just so you know the full picture; I miscarried last month at 12 weeks - nothing to do with PCOS or Clomid - just one of those sad things {sad}, but trying to be positive, I did get pregnant and hope to be back on Clomid in the next couple of months)

Hi Ladies

Sorry for your sad news confus3d, dont give up hope.

Pops i'm good thankyou, hope your well? We have started buying, we have most of the things we need now, it's just the smaller things we need and we're starting on the nursery this week. How about you? Have you got everything now?
Let me know if they give you a date to be induced. Have you finished work now?

Good luck to everyone on clomid.

Lots of chocolate babydust

confu3ed · 10/02/2011 16:54

Thank you for your kind words everyone. I kind of have given up hope at the mo. Really do not want to go through all of that again, it is stressful and I need a break. Got recurrent mc clinic next week for tests, so maybe that will help me to feel better.

Clomid does work though, at least I know that. My body just cannot seem to cope with being PG.

malibustac · 06/04/2011 08:29

hi all, just wondering how you all are? Any news? Oh and i've namechanged used to be stac14

Ladybird10 · 06/04/2011 18:53

It seems to have gone very quiet on here, hope your ok Stac, i'm due tomorrow :) How are you and your LO? xx

CaveMum · 06/04/2011 19:47

Hello all, mind if I join you?!

Long story short, DH and I are TTC#1. I came off the Pill in May 2010 and had a period in June but nothing since. Last month I was diagnosed with PCOS (not over/under weight but do have skin issues) and have just received my appointment for a HSG - 2 weeks tomorrow. We've got to drop a sample from DH in to be tested but presuming all is well with both tests my consultant says they'll be putting me on Clomid.

So, just marking my spot for now but I suspect I'll be back to pick your collective brains Grin

malibustac · 06/04/2011 21:36

wow lady tomorrow, thats fab. How are you? Bet you cant wait to meet your lo. We're all fine madam is 9mths tomorrow it has totally flew in.

Welcome cavemum to the thread, its went quite quiet round here recently but i'm sure the ladies will be back. Sounds like you have had a prompt service which is fab. Have you met a consultant?

oneyeartrying · 08/04/2011 09:39

Girls - i need some advice. I am on month 1 of 50mg clomid (day 2-6) for unexplained infertility. I normally ovulate ok on day 18 with 32 days cycles. I had my day 11 scan today and found a bigger follicle at 14mm on the left ( everything else was too small). Days ago the nurse told me she would expect 2 or so bigger follicles. They told me to come backfor a scan on tuesday but i am feelin pretty deflated. I am fed up of waiting. Have any of you come across any success with 14mm day 11? Nurse was positive but i feel bad nonetheless. Many thanks...

malibustac · 08/04/2011 22:22

hey oneyear i wasnt offered scans but from what others have said they will just be rechecking to make sure its doing what it should. They prefer one follicle as clomid can overstimulate your ovaries causing multiple births or hyperstimulation which is dangerous. Dont be disheartened if you usually ov on cd 18 your follice is still doing the right stuff. Good luck Smile

Ladybird10 · 08/04/2011 23:05

I'm good thanks stac, really want to meet my lo but have a feeling i will be waiting a few more days yet. Oh well he will be here by the 19th as that is the day i will be induced if he's not here by then :) Cant beleive your little girl will be 9 months, wow that has gone quick.

Cavemum hope the clomid works for you.

Oneyear sounds like you will still ovualte, get bd'ing over the next week :) Good Luck
