It's funny, you know but I could always imagine myself with a toddler or older child. I could imagine them coming up and giving me a cuddle. i could not imagine having a tiny baby. And i think even when I had him, although I loved him I was a bit in shock still at first. (He was 4 weeks early and slept for the 1st month then woke up and had terrible colic for the next 3 months).

Once I'd had him (and I mean immediately) I KNEW I wanted another...think it was the hormones Wink felt on a total high and thought "I soooo want to do all that again" surprisingly as the birth was v intense. I think I needed to experience the love and joy that having your own child brings to understand what that might be like, in order to feel "broody" for another. I suppose I wasn't broody cos I didn't know what I was missing IYSWIM?

AmandaCooper · 16/08/2010 21:12

Jbells x posted with you sorry babe. I am more convinced every day that an accident is not at all a bad thing. It's good to a point to plan and prepare, but it can start to drag on to the point that you never actually do it!

I know what you mean about being broody Pipoca, I haven't felt that broody at all. As I was explaining to DH last night, it's more fear pushing me into it and desperation to get out of this current situation.

takingtheplunge · 16/08/2010 21:22

DS wasn't an accident, but I did feel a bit, "right let's just do it" as I felt if I waited til I felt "broody" I might never have children. I comforted myself by thinking it might take ages and then I'd have 9 months to get used to it, so was freaked out by getting pg the 2nd month of trying!!

It's a bit like skydiving. Sometimes you just have to jump out of the plane and wait for your brain to catch up.

I do feel broody this time but have many of the same "do I REALLY want to do this?" feelings but at least this time I do also feel broody as well.

AmandaCooper · 16/08/2010 21:26

At the end of the day it's all going to come down to what DH wants.

takingtheplunge · 16/08/2010 21:29

and what's his current thinking on ttc?

AmandaCooper · 16/08/2010 21:36

Doesn't want to at all and can't imagine changing his mind. He thinks his life would be over basically. But he wouldn't go as far as to have a vasectomy at this stage.

strawberrypie · 16/08/2010 21:48

AC I thought your OH always imagined having two DC but was unsure of when to start? Has he changed his mind or have I got it wrong?

AmandaCooper · 16/08/2010 21:53

I don't think DH knows what he wants, he says different things from one day to the next.

nannyl · 17/08/2010 08:39

Good morning all.

grr amanda lets hope your DH makes up his mind soon...

just wanted to say my best friend from home is visiting and arrives today for a week, so i probably wont be around much, but will catch up when i can. Smile

Hope you all have a good week, and that these confused DH's make up their minds about having children Smile

JustShaggingForNow · 17/08/2010 10:19

Morning ladies!!
That was a lot of chat last night! I had a manic evening. Ran home again (feeling very please with myself about that as I have been known to get bored with exercise kicks pretty fast!!), jumped in the shower, did some more painting in the living room, threw a quick bowl of pasta down my neck, ironed a huge pile of DH's shirts, 30 mins of yoga and then bed...... My body was shattered but my mind was whirring away thinking about babies and such like....!!! Off to GBK for lunch with the new secretary in the office as my boss is away.... Mmmmmmmmmm chips!!!

AC - :( Fingers crossed for you that your DH can make a decision fairly soon. Know what its like to be left hanging!

JS - never heard of GBK, is it a London thing?

WhyWait - how exciting that your DH made a decision! Hope you can sort out medication soon.

Have had a busy morning. Went to Tesco. Been to baby clinic (more like baby cattle market...hate it) to get DD weighed. Then toddler music class. Then to the vets. Come home to find my OV sticks have arrived. Will hide them from DH. Thankfully the EXP date on them is March 2012, hoping I get round to using them before then!

Yeah - GBK is the Gourmet Burger Kitchen AMAZING burgers! Yummy!!!

Going to have to have a breadless one but that means I can eat more chips right?!?!? I am so hungry today. Had a small bowl of pasta last night but only had fruit so far today and the though of waiting until 1pm to go for lunch is a nightmare..... may have to sneak out early :)

bebe it sounds like you have had a busy morning..... vvvvv exciting that the Ov sticks have arrived!!!

bebejones · 17/08/2010 12:22

I'm not sure if I'm excited about them arriving or not Confused after the crappiness of the weekend conversation with DH! Hmm Can't try them out yet anyway and don't want to waste them, only got 30! :o

Going to wait til Friday & suggest stopping jabs until end Jan so I can be ready if he feels he is. Hmm I hate not being able to be spontaneous about TTC like we were last time! :( Stoooooopid MS! Angry Wink

OP posts:
nannyl · 17/08/2010 15:22

can i ahve some calorie free choc cake please.

Anothr big hug to you from me bebe Smile

JustShaggingForNow · 17/08/2010 15:38

Yup - I baked lots of it for all of us who are trying to get fit for TTC!!

Just read an article that 2 cups of coffee before exercise can help burn fat....... www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article856751.ece so that double espresso I had to keep my eyes open after a big lunch will also help me burn it off on my run home tonight! Bonus!!! Grin

bebejones · 17/08/2010 15:39

Hmm now have a serious chocolate brownie craving!

I'll be fine, thanks for the hugs! :) Just wish he didn't keep changing his mind everytime we get close! Thinking this wobble is work induced, so maybe if work improves he'll chenge his mind! This after all is the man who wanted 5 children when we got married! Confused

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 17/08/2010 15:43

as long as you haev it with a coffee or coke and then do some exercise you'll be fine!!!

JustShaggingForNow · 17/08/2010 15:44

have - awful spelling today!!!

bebejones · 17/08/2010 15:53

I don't like coffee or coke so guess the brownie is out! :o

Had a very small piece of banana bread...not quite the same! Hmm

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 17/08/2010 16:27

Right - off to kill myself running home get some nice exercise!!

x

jbells · 17/08/2010 19:26

sounds like lots of chocolate and cakes has been shared today :)
AC- hope things are going better for u today

BEBE- thats good that ov sticks have arrived ive never used them r they any good?

I have had a horrible day complete oposite to day yest, have spent the entire day argueing with dp, hate him right now, which def wont help my plee to have dc2, dd has been really poorly and has done nothing but cough her guts up feel so sorry for her and so guilty when shes ill :(

Hope everybody else has had a better day

pjd · 17/08/2010 19:34

Sorry to hear you've had a crap day jbells, it's so horrible when DCs are ill, isn't it? I always feel totally useless. And I don't suppose arguing with DH helped much.

I've taken DS for his first ever trip to the seaside today.....he was a bit wary of the water at first, but loved it by the time we left and has gone to bed clutching two stones he brought home from the beach! It's times like those I think I want another one right now, why wait? as whywait might say! But it's taken long enough for DH to come round to agreeing to having a number 2 with around a 3-year age gap, so better not push my luck!
