barbie1 · 10/10/2010 11:17

vjay Ajay is just too cute!

I think cupcake wins the sweepstake, unless mls stays in labour for 2 days and has a boy so i can win Grin Doubt she would like that though!

VJay · 10/10/2010 11:24

I never win the sweepstake, she definatly won't hold on til the 17th, that is asking just too much Grin. I wonder how she's getting on?????

Oooh exciting! Just back from church, craft market and nannys to read your news mls! Grin What a great date to be born! Grin Apparently climbing the stairs sideways helps things progress but do be careful if you attempt that! If not just straight climbing is good! On my 5day induction marathon i must of climbed the hospital stairs 100s of times as advised by the mws.. Shock just as well the delivery suite was on the first floor!

anniebigpants · 10/10/2010 15:25

Go mls!! Ooh how exciting!
Huge apologies for going AWOL for so long ladies!

I am leaving her to cry, but im losing confidence in the whole cc thing. I really am at my wits end, see here

Sorry for rant, i just dont know what to do Sad
Do all kids go haywire when teeth come through? Ps her cold has gone so its not down to that.

cupcakefairy · 10/10/2010 20:15

Hello ladies :)
As promised- proper catch up post.

Personals first-

MLS sorry things seem to have slowed down (especially as I prob won't win sweepstake now Wink) hope you're feeling ok and eating lots to store up energy! So excited for you :)
Sorry about all the chest worries; not what you need. Hope you get answers soon. And btw am so with you on the coil- boak boak boak!!

QA good to see you. Sorry you're no nearer to ttc :(

louey you haven't been back since edd..hope you're ok? Thinking of you.

sabs SO lovely reading about Saara's birthday celebrations. Just horrible though that your lovely holiday had to end the way it did. What's the latest? We haven't heard yet re dh's job; horrible waiting.

Monkey Just heartbreakingly inevitable you getting that news on your edd :( but absolutely love the image of you prepping for Christmas; all spicy smells and ds with messy hands. Hope it's helping blow those cobwebs away. Dh is going to try the mincemeat too :)
We were in SW France by the way, little place called Castres near Albi.

Barbie is the ac fixed or are you still sweltering?? Yes my friend is in Dubai now til Feb. Judging by her pics she's super busy!! But I will remind her she can contact you, thanks :)

4ever we've texted already but hope you're feeling ok now re Summer's fall. We have J's 3rd round of jabs tomorrow :(

buddha and annie so good to see you both. buddha glad you're settled back into work now.

jools hope you're enjoying sunny hols!

Vjay how's the revision? Re that bad thread you read- I always do the same! I never really read around MN except when something on active convos catches my eye and even when I KNOW it will upset/annoy/scare me I still read the thread then regret it! Must learn! Grin

blue how was the trip to Glasgow? Hope you're forming a colour scheme and mood board now!

LBM I use public transport a lot with J mainly cos I hate driving in the city (getting better with it now though) and it can be a right faff so I do admire you!

Neeko so pleased for you with the mixed feeding. Any further with the sleep? Thanks for the update on gracie I've been wondering how she is.

BQ still GrinGrinGrin for you. Hope you can get an early scan.

Moon so so sorry for the bfn hun :( but focusing on the happy - YAY for having a date and venue!!! So excited for you.

mermaid I lol'd so much at the swiming mum shouting nefertiti Grin love it. Hope your small boy hasn't been getting more kittens into trouble Wink

Hello to all other lovelies, especially Curly (naughty girl hiding in the lovely photo!)

Well, as for my news-
holiday was a lovely break but also very Confused
There's some really sad stuff happening in the family at the mo so quite bittersweet seeing my aunt and cousins.
Jude was also really disturbed the first few days not sure why- could have been a little cold he had, the plane, being in an unfamiliar house/cot...?? Anyway he just cried loads, day and night which was so unlike him and v upsetting. A few evenings he just WOULD NOT settle so we had to just leave him crying as nothing would comfort him, was horrible :( then dh got ill with bad cold...but thankfully J picked up in the last couple of days and was much more himself. He ended up sleeping in our bed every night cos he just woke so much and wouldn't settle again and I was so aware of disturbing my cousins when they had school to go to.

Hoped coming home would help him settle a bit but his sleep is going from bad to worse :( taking forever to go down to bed, waking SO many times and not resettling. We've started baby rice now and making no difference (not that I expected it to)
I actually feel extremely fragile and upset about it all and want to quit breastfeeding because of it which upsets me even more (am not feeding him every time he wakes btw). I'm completely shattered and have felt properly angry at ds some nights :( I know that's a horrible thing to say, sorry :(

Last night was the last straw and I saw every hour of the night...so today he has been moved into his own room. No idea if it will do anything but just need him to learn to settle himself more. Nearly crying writing this, just so worried about it all. Sorry, I know this is pathetic compared to what others are going through but just had to get it all out.

He is still so lovely during the day and i fact has been in a gorgeous mood all day today, just don't understand why the nights are so bad. Has been 6 weeks now and just getting worse. :( sorry for the ramble.

cupcakefairy · 10/10/2010 20:30

barbie x-post (I took ages)
solidarity hug xxxxx

bluesatinsash · 10/10/2010 20:45

Was just going to lurk and send MLS big fat labour vibes but couldn't log off without posting to cupcake and barbie...

cupcake - I was you a few months ago. In fact if you search my name and date search from 1-20th May you will see seeral threads on night wakings/breast feeding marathons... Confused Sad [cunfused]. Ben was feeding more as a 4-5 month old during the night as eh was as a newborn and I just had enough. I can only go on my experience but the day he went on a bottle his sleeping improved 100% and his night feeds went from 3-4 to one literally overnight. That then had the knock on effect of me not being completely shattered and resentful (yes I was that Mummy too Sad) and managed to actually enjoy him. I didn't miss bf not one bit, but everyone is different and its so emotional/hormonal etc. etc.

You are doing the right thing not feeding him every time he wakes but its the whole vicious circle of is b milk sustaining him and is it geniune hunger that's waking him (I think it was with B)...

Have you though of introducing formula at his bed time?

Sending you a big {{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}}}

barbie - you too {{{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}} Firstly you DID give birth, don't you think for one second because you had a section you didn't. There was labour, there was a healthy baby = you gave birth - OK?! I can feel your utter frustration and wits endness with Dolly Confused. Lurgy sends everything to the wall. Once again it resonates as I had gastro ent the weekend before I stopped bf for good and felt hellish throwing up both ends whilst still having to feed B, it was the pits. As you say she does NOT need b milk at those wake ups but if she is poorly then it is soothing for her but the minute she is better you need to reign it back in and get strict again. I thought the posters on your other thread was a bit harsh as cc DOEs work for young babies and Dolly is so advanced for her age she needs strict intervention. One point I may agree with is why don't you try and rock her to sleep to see if that makes a difference? Also is she having too much nap time? Think the average length for baby D's age is @ 2.5 hours (take note Neeko I think H may be having too much day time sleep... Wouldn't cut down onmorning one but restrict afternoon one to make her more tired for bed?).

Anyway to summarise, its all goes to hell on a cart horse when they're ill but you have to get some sort of sleep routine as its miserable for everyone, which you know. I would try and get D to be asleep before she goes in her cot so the whole standing up phase etc. can be bypassed or at least lessend as she is geniunly tired. Wish I could come over and give you a break for a couple of days!

Right need to go as DH is on couch and we're off tomorrow so there is wine flowing

Apologies for my ramblings but just wanted to give some "been there, know your pain" advice, HTH xx

cupcakefairy · 10/10/2010 20:58

blue thank you so much. I know you know exactly how it feels.
I will consider the formula. I fed him twice last night and he did seem to drink very hungrily so am sure it is genuine hunger and not just comfort.

barbie I agree I think people are being a bit harsh on your other thread so [hugs]
Reading it is making me wonder if I'm expecting too much of ds at 4 months but just feel so fed up. Especially as all my nct mums have 'perfect' babies who sleep so well etc (dunno if they're telling the truth though really??)

cupcakefairy · 10/10/2010 21:01

Oops, those hugs weren't meant to be a link Grin

SabsFabulous · 11/10/2010 00:57

Hello ladies, hope everyone is well. Going to apologise in advance for lack of personals.

First, mls GO, GO, GO! So excited for you. Can't wait to hear the news, and the name!

bq so Grin Grin Grin excited and happy for you! Let the hand-holding commence. Hope you're feeling OK

Sending lots of hugs to you moon and also to cupcake, barbie and anyone else who's having a hard time

First week back at work was horrible. S is with my Dsis for a few weeks who she absolutely adores, and my parents and brother are also around at various times during the day and she gets along with them all so I'm really grateful to my family for offering to help out. Its been a great weight off my mind with whats going on at work. Having said that I miss her to bits, and its wonderful being reunited with her at the end of the day, though she does have a bigger smile for DH Envy

I have my interview on Thursday morning which consists of a 5 min presentation and 6 interview questions. I also have to complete in a 500 word statement by then. My manager has been good by not piling on a lot of work, but the type of work I used to do has completely gone and its a totally different type of work now thats developed whilst I've been gone and what the interview will be based around. I'm not expecting to get the job as there is no way I can catch up with over a years worth of changes but I'm going to try my best anyway. I've been to citizen's advice who are helping me out as the union cant help me as I havent been with them for long enough. Its been so stressful as well as all of us adapting to a new routine. I've been waking up at 6am and not getting to bed until 11pm. I have Mondays off for 6 months so thats a blessing.

Sorry for the me post and thanks to everyone for your posts and texts. Wish me luck for Thursday. I'm meant to find out the outcome of the interview on Friday.

Night all. Back to interview preps for me Sad

P.S Anyone on here into X-factor??

Neeko · 11/10/2010 06:16

barbie1 · 11/10/2010 06:21
