Medical cannabis

Anyone else here tried medical cannabis?

I'm currently trying it. I suffer from chronic pain from ankylosing spondylitis with lots of peripheral symptoms.

I tried 9 different anti inflammatory drugs and lot of others for pain.

The clinic I spoke to were really helpful. I got my prescription about a month ago.

It is helping with the joint pain and tendonitis pain and stiffness. I've stopped using other forms of pain relief and I sleep better so feel less tired.

Anyone else?

I'm convinced it's not legal because it would actually cure most illnesses, including cancers.

You're not the only person I know who is much much better for taking it.

@CoastalWave
It doesn't cure cancer but its helps with the side effects and symptoms of it and the treatments.Chemo etc.

Anyone else with experience of dankbakery? I want to try it but I’m scared of getting in trouble with the law too! Am I just overthinking 😅

Posyapocalypse · 23/03/2023 20:20

I’m so glad I spotted this thread. I started Adven oil from Sapphire about 9 days ago (0.2ml x 2 daily ) and 0.02 - 0.05 before bed). So far it’s had no effect. Can anyone remember how quickly they saw any improvement after starting MC. I’m not sleeping better, pain is the same. It does say on their FAQs that it can take 2 weeks plus to feel any benefit and up to 2 months to get the full effect. I keep waiting for something to happen but nothing has yet.

Hi @Lionoso fingers crossed it provides some relief .
Was the 2 week wait for zoom mtg with the Sapphire dr ?
And yes I'd like to know how you get on .

Yes it was about two weeks to see the Sapphire Dr. You can't make an appointment until they have your medical notes, and took quite a while from my GP. The whole process felt quite slow but it was fairly easy.

@Posyapocalypse , sorry to hear that nothing is happening for you!
I'm not familiar with this company's products so cant give specific advise (I'd suggest looking on reddit, there are forums devoted to UK medical cannabis)
however...
1-does the oil contain THC or CBD?
2-are you familiar with the effects of THC?
3- when taken orally THC is converted by liver enzymes into a longer acting cannabinoid, the effects are similar to the smoked/vaped product but not quite the same
4-some people get no effect from oral THC, I think because they dont have the right liver enzymes (that's all off the top of my head, googling will get you more detail)
I dont know if that helps, if you have any other Q's I'll do my best!

Posyapocalypse · 23/03/2023 23:24

Thesharkradar thanks for this. This is my prescription. Apart from filling scatty I’m not seeing any change yet.

Posy
Hmm, looking at the instructions, 'with or after food'
...I never take oral cannabis with or after food, I take it on an empty stomach, that way you feel the effects more quickly, if you've eaten much fat it will take longer to absorb.
If it works you'll feel stoned, and presumably you havent, could you get some cannabis flower to try instead?
Have a look on here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ukmedicalcannabis/
they'll know much more about how the medical cannabis people do things

Thesharkradar. That’s so helpful thanks. I’ve taken the oil after food as that’s what the prescription said. I’ll give a go before though. Sapphire do flowers so I’ll ask about that . My next appt is 3 April. I’ll take a look at the links. Than you again

No, where do I find them, instagram?

anonymouschef · 24/03/2023 07:39

Yes I do feel stoned sometimes I take too much and my heart races but in general I get it right I have a teaspoon, but it would be quite a bit of cannabis.

I am very skinny and don't eat much I find it very hard for the oil to work if I've not eaten and my stomach is empty it's too acidic. I eat about half a banana when I take the oil it helps.

It used to take up to 7 hours for it to work so I had to take it in the morning however now it takes about 3-4

anonymouschef · 24/03/2023 07:40

@Thesharkradar

I am prescribed the same oil at 1ml p day
I take the whole dose at once if I use their oil but it's not usually here on time at the end of the month

Lionoso · 24/03/2023 09:05

Yesterday was my first full day on the MC oils. I take a CBD oil twice a day, and a THC one before bed time.

Hard to tell if the CBD oil is doing anything. It's the more anti inflammatory oil, and according to my Dr it can take a while to build up in your system.

The THC oil I did feel a small benefit from. I have really bad insomnia lately (damn perimenopause) and I was hoping it would really help me sleep. Well it sort of did. I still woke up once to use the loo, and my usual pain woke me up at 6am, so no affect there. However it felt easier for me to drop off to sleep.

I didn't feel high really just slightly chilled and maybe a little bit more relaxed than normal, I feel more weird after opiates really. I'm terrible lately at getting to sleep, my mind races, I end up focused on my pain and it's hard. Last night I felt my body and mind were just a bit more relaxed, and I dropped off a bit earlier than normal. Might just be a placebo affect, but it's a good sign for me so far.

The oils taste disgusting though, especially the CBD one urgh.

I take it after food as I have a sensitive stomach.

Lionoso · 24/03/2023 09:08

Oh and yesterday evening I had a bad headache, it was there most of the day but got worse after tea time. I did notice it eased a bit after I had my second dose of CBD oil, about 20 mins after taking it.

Again it might be a bit of a placebo affect, but honestly even if this helps my headaches and migraine a bit, I will be happy.

I have had some minor nausea in the background, but my Dr said it's the most common side affect from the oils and it usually settles.

I have to increase my does in 3-5 days.

Posyapocalypse · 24/03/2023 10:28

You sound to be on same/similar thing as me lionoso. It's good you got to sleep easier and felt more relaxed. I hope you get more benefits as you build up. Agree they taste vile. I'm getting used to it a bit now .

Blimey look at that it's defacto legal now for recreational isn't it!
If I had a garden Id be growing my own... much cheaper and very easy 😎

theemmadilemma · 24/03/2023 14:21

Well done OP. I wish more people would see the benefits and medicinal use of cannabis.

It is not some evil drug. Albeit some of the varities on the streets are not great.

But were we to move to a legalised system, that could be better controlled and less harm done too.

Can recommend MyEdibles too.

CherryRipe1 · 24/03/2023 16:14

@Thesharkradar Looking that way! Now you've gone & given me ideas, the local head shop sells seeds as "souvenirs".

Lionoso · 24/03/2023 16:55

Slightly interesting over the course of the day today, my anxiety is less. I always have a bit of anxiety, worse since perimenopause, I have tried various things over the years, (e.g antidepressants but side affects were worse than the meds). I didn't even consider the MC as being able to help it, as I think being anxious is my normal every day mood. But today I have felt a bit calmer than normal. Those background thoughts seem quieter.

That's a bonus for me and I hope it stays that way. It's wearing off now in late afternoon after my morning dose. The calmness has been quite lovely today.

Im still so nervous about being in trouble for it 😅
but so many people seem to use it with no consequence… and given the state of policing anyway… would they even care about an arthritic mum’s brownies?? :’)

It was reported that Olivia Newton John was on medicinal cannabis in her final years as she was in a lot of pain from her cancer when it came back the third time. It didn't "cure" her but it made her last months and years a lot more comfortable.

they wont go after the user anyway, they'd go after the seller...think about how easy it would be to track the seller down using that website
tbh I think it's pretty risky selling edibles that look like normal food and could be eaten by mistake. I also think many people dont want to plough through a load of fatty food in order to get high/get medicated.
I'd suggest getting some RSO instead, diluting in oil + lecitin, makes it easier to control the dose & time of onset.
Or just get some regular weed and vape/smoke when you need to, it's easier to control than edibles if you are starting out.

@CherryRipe1 , it's V easy to grow enough for your own supply

JimnJoyce · 24/03/2023 17:52

just messaged Dank Bakery as looking for something to help with arthritis and sciatica pain and chronic daily migraine, but no idea where to start!

I’ve tried the cbd oil from Holland & Barrett, it didn’t work at all really and tasted vile. Tbh I would try smoking/vaping or a more medicated (?) oil, but I wouldn’t know where to make the purchase or who to ask! The process for buying edibles looks somehow much more user-friendly?!
