Welcome to our new shiny thread for February. The lattes and expressos were not quite hitting the mark so we have moved to the pub. Whether you need Diet Coke or stiff drink help yourself we have a tab going and hunky staff are very attentive.

Saw consultant this morning, he seems pretty good, and instructed the ward to stay on top of pain meds😆
I’m going for ultra sound and CT scan at some point today.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 28/02/2022 12:54

i cant believe they left you like that @Gilead thats awful. i hope they get you a treatment plan sorted soon and you dont have to stay there too much longer

Akire · 28/02/2022 14:32

Shoulder is killing me today had battle 3 times with fire door. Then put a complaint on Twitter to housing association who promised to forward to building teams. I doubt any action will be taken but it’s a start. Had be rescued by neighbour on last go as couldn’t pull it open long enough and twist arm around to hold it open. I need right hand drive my chair so left Hand to hold a heavy door open on my right. Life is hard enough without new obstacles causing pain just going about your day. have ordered a sticky on handle like can use in bathroom suction see if work on door or glass panel that runs the length.

Was chatting to neighbour while waiting downstairs as our intercom is also out and Amazon parcel was coming and he saying he’s fed up with housing too and he’s able bodied. Lift also making slight crunch on descent which usually happens few days before it breaks so that also be fun.

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/02/2022 17:27

@Akire I hope the lift doesn't break thats the last thing you need.
I've done my knee and back in. It hurts so much.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 28/02/2022 18:31

@Akire hugs from me. Bloody awful that you're having to deal with that. You've enough to deal with already x

RainbowZebraWarrior · 28/02/2022 18:36

@Gilead Truly awful and unacceptable what you've described. Hope things are improving. I've been wracking my brains trying to think what hospital you're in. My Mum had major bowel surgery 2 years ago for cancer. Was in Cram for 10 days then Wans for 5. Her treatment in the 2nd hospital was disgraceful. A cleaner ended up helping her to the toilet after she was being seen by a physio. Basically, she soiled herself from her new stoma and the physios and nurses fucked off and left her to it. This is a 75 year old lady with cancer who couldn't get out of bed. Not that age should have anything to do with it. Fucking disgrace leaving anyone in soiled sheets and not medicating when necessary. My heart goes out to you x

Gilead · 28/02/2022 19:08

See if you can get her under the RVI the stoma care team there are unparalleled! Bloody wonderful day or night, nothing is too much.
I’m at Dryburn. Just about to be moved wards for the third time since Saturday!.
I’m having to change my stoma lying down which is okay but peeing is hard people seem to think I’m lying when I say the sheets are wet! Grrrr!

Akire · 28/02/2022 19:10

Sorry to hear about your mum it’s awful when can’t rely on being treated well.

@HerRoyalHappiness you are not having good run of things lately are you.

@Gilead are you allowed visitors or are there still covid restrictions? Do let us know if we can help sort anything

Ah @Gilead I remember now. Knew you were Durham way, so sorry I got confused about the different trusts. My Mum had an excellent consultant by the name of Kate Carney who is based mainly at North Tyneside and Cramlington. But she said she would never go back to Wansbeck. To be fair, she had her op one week after the first lockdown and that's why she was transferred there after being in Intensive / High Dependency unit for over a week. So shocking that the care can be either amazing or utterly rubbish. We should be world leaders.

Gilead · 28/02/2022 20:12

No visitors allowed, but thank you, what a kind thought. 💐

Gilead · 28/02/2022 20:17

Last time I was here, thry forgot I was here, for 24 hours! Put in my own room and it wasn’t until O finally came out and asked for a drink that they realised I was there.
They also right royally fucked up my drugs - and have done the same again, I’ve spent all day asking for my steroids, gradually feeling more and more groggy.finally got them at half five. That’s a tad on the dangerous side.
I’d be fuming (or fumming😉) if I had the energy!

wildthingsinthenight · 28/02/2022 22:19

Thinking of you @Gilead

wildthingsinthenight · 28/02/2022 22:22

@Akire Your housing situation sounds totally unacceptable for you with the lift, heavy doors and intercom! Hope your shoulder is feeling betterFlowers

Really hard changing your stoma lying down. You need help but it doesn't sound like they are on the ball at all. I'm a fellow ostomate. (ileostomy) Be 19 years this year.
Gilead · 28/02/2022 23:20

@wildthingsinthenight, ileostomy too. I’m not even 19 months! June last year.

Daimyum · 01/03/2022 06:04

@gilead I hope you had a better night, and that they treated you better. Nhs care at the moment is shocking. Also hope they give you a plan re hip asap x

I bet it's that fire door. They are so heavySad

@Gilead thinking of you

My friend is taking me to IKEA this morning and I'm looking forward to it. Not been for years as I don't drive and DH hates it.
Kept tmrw clear to recover as I know I'll need it
At least there are lots of chairs to rest on there.
Hope everyone else has a good day Flowers

Akire · 02/03/2022 09:44

Yes hope looking after you @Gilead and there is some news today.

Had rough night, kidney pain (well I assume it is) has been on both sides last few days not in kidney back place. Kept me awake in night and then had migraine brewing. Had one preventer which took few hours settle down. But still worry it go full on screaming vomiting zone. Have E-consult GP she mentioned scan but that if I need one it wouldn’t be a rush. I’ve had 10+4 days of anti biotics not sure can give me any more.

Bought a suction handle for fire door that stuck on yesterday with nite asking people not remove. So have to see if it gets nicked!

Oh dear @akire that's sounds nasty. Kidney pain is the worst. I have chronic uti and my bladders playing me up at the mo. I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow about it.
I'm in pain today and really just don't want to move from the sofa. DH thinks I do nothing all day (although I know he does know and appreciate what I do, washing up and a load of washing completed this morning by 10am Grin) but I do nothing much cos I'm shattered all the time!

Akire · 02/03/2022 13:56

Hi @blossomtree323 are you new or name changing? Welcome if we not done that already. I’m lucky as in it’s been just back pain whole time so no other nasty symptoms. I’ve had plenty of UTI so know how horrid they are and being tied to the loo. Hope your GP is helpful and can sort something make you more comfortable.

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/03/2022 14:36

Akire · 02/03/2022 17:22
