Welcome to our new shiny thread for February. The lattes and expressos were not quite hitting the mark so we have moved to the pub. Whether you need Diet Coke or stiff drink help yourself we have a tab going and hunky staff are very attentive.

Indeed.

Akire · 13/02/2022 12:25

I don’t get how GP or consultants can pretend to be so ignorant on benefit issues. I’ve had GP in past just said oh don’t know anything about that. We don’t expect them be expert but must know bare mim of what is expected when you ask for a supporting letter or sick note. To access any benefits you need a medical profession to support claim it’s not a one off must be constantly happening.

I used to support people with benefits in a previous role it’s an absolute nightmare.

I took an extra Amitriptiline as advised by the GP last night and had terrible heart palpitations. Has anyone had similar? GP advised me not to take them if this happened. Confused

I’ve been in a lot of pain today that I cannot get to settle at all, even with Naprocen and Tramadol. I can’t think what I’ve done to be in so much pain. Back to the GP tomorrow I guess.

Akire · 13/02/2022 18:47

Heart palpations are nasty I get a lot for no apparent reason. Can last 8 hours at a time so annoying and discombobulating!

This sounds scary! Poor you. I've toyed with the idea of doubling mine up. Still wondering. I will ask gp for stronger ones on Thursday at my appt.

My mood is awful these past few days. Just so low and weepy. I'm sure it's my HRT. Another subject to cram into my appt.
Late having my DS so I am menopause age and he is puberty age. Oh joy....
Physically I am still not recovered from my day out on Thursday.
I have just seen you can get long thin hot water bottles which seem a great idea.
Anyone used one?

RainbowZebraWarrior · 14/02/2022 08:26

Gentle hugs all round

Hope everyone slept ok

RainbowZebraWarrior · 14/02/2022 08:30

@wildthingsinthenight I'm the same. Had DD at 40, am now 50, on HRT and DD is going through puberty. We've been on our own since she was 18 months.

My Mum bought me one of those long hot water bottles for Christmas. I've used it a couple of times. Just got to be careful when filling it, so as long as your hands are ok. I'm not much of a hot water bottle user as I don't like heat, but if you do then it could be good idea

RainbowZebraWarrior · 14/02/2022 08:34

I've had to keep DD off today. We are both utterly exhausted from the back end of last weeks appts. She's had a cold hanging round for a week and is just generally constantly tired anyway from masking at school and her anxiety wearing her out.

Akire · 14/02/2022 10:46

Duvet day sounds good @RainbowZebraWarrior you both need one. I got text from surgery upgrading my possible phone/video call with a face to face. So hopefully should have some sort meds by the end of the day.

I use hot water bottle all time, seen those long ones but not sure if like one. Tend want heat in one place at a time.

We're in half term here so the kids are all at home.
Glad I don't have to do the school run in the miserable rain.

I can't wait until next week when my two are on half term, my ankle could do with a rest rather than doing the school run every day. Got to do it 3 times today because of after school clubs 😭
HerRoyalHappiness · 14/02/2022 12:03

I can't get home and back in time for after school clubs, so when one has one and the other doesn't we just sit in the office and wait. I take their tablets so they can play those and they do their reading books while we wait.

Akire · 14/02/2022 12:05

Half term here my neighbours kids are on scooters on landing making hell of racket. It’s like 4 metres from where I’m sitting they think a door in between somehow makes them silent!

That makes sense.

I get about 30 minutes at home before going back out, which isn't really long enough to rest, but I don't think the school would allow me to wait there anyway.

HerRoyalHappiness · 14/02/2022 12:17

@MedusasBadHairDay that sucks. I'm lucky with the DCs school. They're very accommodating and understanding. They help as much as they can. I drop off and pick up from the school office as to get to the yard there's a steep hill that I can't manage. They're happy for me to wait around in the office, and they're always asking if there's anything more they can do to help.

Oh man, I'd go apeshit!

Hope the docs appt goes well. My GPs receptionists have a list of 'Things that must be seen immediately' Possible UTI is at the top of the list, as obvs can also be kidney infection.

Akire · 14/02/2022 12:22

Their parents are useless sadly never take them anywhere. Yes I think the change in urgency from them is because should offered Something earlier. I know I had option 111 over weekend but wasn’t that bad. If pain was any other part of body would just ignore!

Thanks wild things

Fairly restful. But had a massive barney with Sainsbury's. Ordered a £15 valentines meal deal for me and DD. They subbed the steak, so the deal was cocked up and ended up costing double. Rang up and had an obnoxious person tell me basically tough shit, take the stuff back to local branch. Said I couldn't due to my disability that's why I had order online. I order twice a week so more than 100 times a year!! Tried the complaints line. Got same person. Was told "do not ring this number again!" Thankfully I'm part of a product test on here that deals with Sainsbury's. They told me their helpline was awful, and refunded the difference themselves.

How is everyone this evening?

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 14/02/2022 18:30

im tired and hungry and fed up of bieng broke. i want to know where all this money im meant to get for not working is!

Akire · 14/02/2022 18:31

Shame they were so rubbish hardly customer food will is it. You can’t always check everything. I thought if subbed a deal the deal still counted or least note to say will cost double to keep.

Romantic evening in? Exciting fish fingers and frozen mash for me not up to anything else and trying to be good (again)

Sorry to hear about your kidney infection @Akire and the issue with Sainsburys @RainbowZebraWarrior. I had a better GP appointment, she’s running some more bloods and going to refer me to a neurologist if the bloods come back with no cause for pain. So that’s something. Fingers crossed for a better day for everyone tomorrow.

Akire · 14/02/2022 19:03

Thanks and well done on appointment, slowly slowly eh.
