Well done for getting up and getting ready Flowers Good luck at your appointment today xx
wildthingsinthenight · 18/01/2022 07:31

Good luck for today @HerRoyalHappiness! Sure it will all be ok and at least by this evening it's all over and done with.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 18/01/2022 10:58

@HerRoyalHappiness good luck x

@wildthingsinthenight I did watch Geordie Hospital in the end. I also like GPs behind closed doors. I feel really proud actually of the way they have portrayed the North East and 'my' hospital trust so well. Most stuff about the North East seems loud, brash and paints us as being thick. My Dad has had two heart operations at the Freeman. It has a worldwide reputation as an amazing heart hospital. Next weeks episode features the plastic surgery dept in the Royal Victoria Infirmary that rebuilt my Mum's face 10 years ago. gory detail alert She fell onto a wall while walking the dog and sliced her nose off. So yeah, feeling very proud watching these people who care for me and my family Smile

HerRoyalHappiness · 18/01/2022 11:43

Well my scan has been cancelled due to staff shortages

SpookyScarySkeletons · 18/01/2022 11:51

Bloody hell that's annoying!! Same thing happened with my bloods on Monday.

HerRoyalHappiness · 18/01/2022 12:02

It's so frustrating. But I understand they can't help having staff off

Akire · 18/01/2022 14:05

Did you find out before you got there? Survived dentist here and was bun day so bonus points for me extra obstacles. What is it with people putting wheeling bins at narrowest point on the pavement? 2 metres wide? I know I stick my bin opposite this tree so no one can get passed!

OP posts:
HerRoyalHappiness · 18/01/2022 14:14

Luckily they phoned just before I set off!

Bin day is a nightmare. Round here they put their bins right in the middle of the pavement so there's no room either side to manoeuvre round.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 18/01/2022 14:34

Pleased you survived the dentist @Akire
Yeah, bin day at school school drop off was just an extra thing to add to this mornings shit. Add frost = me and DD in total meltdown harmony. I know she has sky high anxiety, I know she wants me to walk her to the entrance. But I can barely walk at best of times and I just freeze totally when it's slippy. Plan is to take my Dad with us tomorrow. (She wouldn't go in with him, but he could help me walk her to gate then help me back to car) Standing clinging to a tree as dozens of school kids walk past and stare at you is just a fab way to start the day

God your poor mum!! Awful.
Glad you liked Geordie Hospital. I'll look forward to seeing it now

Akire · 18/01/2022 16:04

I can’t watch anything medical on TV at all fat to many bad experiences of hospitals!
@RainbowZebraWarrior do school
Know how much trouble it is or how dangerous for you to walk to the gate?

wildthingsinthenight · 18/01/2022 16:05

Well done at the dentist Akire

What a shame about your scan HerRoyalHappiness such an anticlimax after all the build upHmm

Rainbow I hear you about slippy pavements.. I'm petrified of them too. I bought some YakTrax from Amazon that fix onto the bottom of any shoes you wear and make them more grippy. They are really good. Walking sticks and frost are Shock
Hope the rest of your day has been a bit calmer so far.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 18/01/2022 17:32

@Akire she just started middle school in Sept. By beginning of Jan wheels really came off. I'd had a few telephone conversations with them about her health and mine. Met headteacher then school nurse couple of weeks ago. Spoke to SENCO last week and gave an overall picture of our life. She was lovely, but concluded the call with 'Bye, Mrs X' I'm not Mrs anything. So I don't think she gets that I'm on my own. SENCO is away this week with school trip, but I've a meeting with her next week. I'm really going to have to spell it out to her that I desperately need help. When I spoke to school nurse she asked me for a 'parent impact statement' on a scale of 1 to 3. I rated 3 being 'Things are affecting us badly on a daily basis and I worry about the future' pretty stupid wording provided, but best fit. It will hopefully be picked up by CAHMS pretty quickly.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 18/01/2022 17:33

Sorry. Cannot give a short answer to save my life

Akire · 18/01/2022 17:52

Yes I remember bits now you said that, It would be such easy thing for them help meet you buy the car or you to drop her just at the end of the bell. Hope they do something

OP posts:
HerRoyalHappiness · 18/01/2022 18:43

@RainbowZebraWarrior to get the children to school I'd have to walk up a very steep path to get to their playground so I spoke to school and I'm able to drop the children off at the school office and have a teacher take them in for me so I avoid the hill. You'd think school would do something similar for you and arrange to meet you somewhere to make I easier.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 18/01/2022 20:20

@HerRoyalHappiness DDs Primary was like that. I'd drop off at school Reception. Middle school is only accessible via a pedestrianised private road. It is actually cordoned off and about 120 meters long. It's sending me and DD into meltdown every single day. I hope to god they can come up with a solution as I cannot physically or mentally cope with this any more. I wish I'd sent her to a different school. But all of her Primary peers were moving to this one. My sister went to a 'special school' because of her complex needs. I don't want this to be the case for DD as I feel there should be an easy solution. The lack of an apparent easy solution is making me meltdown and feel like I'm failing

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 18/01/2022 20:34

i was lucky that it was flat to get to my Ds school when he lived with me and the playground was easy to get into so it was okay but i dont think i could even manage that anymroe so its a good job hes all big and independent now! they used to bring him out first five minutes before the bell so we could get a head start away fromt he crowds, they were really good with us even though at the tim ei was still fighting to get his autism diagnosis

HerRoyalHappiness · 19/01/2022 08:37

Well no need to worry about the school run today. DS2 has covid now!

BackInBits · 19/01/2022 12:18

Hi all, I've been absent a long time! Have I missed any major news? How are you all?

I ended up with horrendous side effects from the steroid given during the Racz/facet block. All ok now, but facet joints doing badly and I'm due in for an ablation in the coming weeks.

I'm just 4 weeks back to work following maternity leave and I feel awful for being out sick this week, but back on gabapentin at night and hoping I'll be ok by Monday. Annoyingly, I'll either have to skip doses or come off the on call rota, but I know I'm lucky to have such good care and understanding colleagues.

Akire · 19/01/2022 12:48

Hi @BackInBits nice to see you, shame you had such Rocky back to week. Glad your work are being understanding about it, especially as not much you can do about any of it anyway.

OP posts:
RainbowZebraWarrior · 19/01/2022 12:49

Hi @BackInBits so nice to see you back, but sorry you are still in bits. So sorry to hear you had such awful side effects and are still suffering. Is your instinct to go with coming off the on call rota if colleagues support that? It surely wouldn't be good to skip doses now you are back at work. I'd imagine you'd want to have a sense of consistency pain relief wise.

HerRoyalHappiness · 19/01/2022 13:39

Hi @BackInBits sorry you're struggling so much.
