Hi @BackInBits nice to meet you

HerRoyalHappiness · 20/01/2022 11:31

My knees are aching today. Not helped by having to lug a 12 and a half pound cat to the vets!

Akire · 20/01/2022 12:09

That’s a tiger not a cat! Lazy morning not opened the curtains yet, todays going be slow motion.

Does anyone have a good phone/iPad holder? I’ve got one but only works on a table not over /in bed. I’m on phone to much granted but it’s wrecking my hands and elbow joints.

Good luck!

@Akire could you get a beanbag one so it will sit on your bed?

Akire · 20/01/2022 12:40

It’s mostly for phone as I spend a lot time laying down. Not sure how well work with bean bag on chest but still be close enough for scrolling every few seconds. Will have look see what around.

Absolutely loads left to do. Thankfully DH has a day off today so he is doing all the cleaning and fetching me snacks. He's a good egg.
RainbowZebraWarrior · 20/01/2022 14:17

Argh Spooky, hope it's been rescheduled

@Akire I have this. It's foam and behaves well on uneven surfaces so I use in bed. It has 3 different angles. It's the same as JML one which is £20 but I paid £8 from amazon. I also use a pop socket on back of phone to save hands. I think google ipad pillow or such like should bring up results. Had mine for over a year now. Has pocket on side too which is handy

RainbowZebraWarrior · 20/01/2022 14:20

Would help if I attached a picture!

Does anybody know if lcwra being accepted on universal credits is enough proof for a disabled railcard please. They say they want dla or pip proof but when I look online it either says no such thing anymore or that it's for children.

Can't go into a station to do it either which is discrimination as can do all others face to face in the station.

Might have to look on amazon for one of those phone holders, look handy since my hands are useless.

Akire · 20/01/2022 15:40

I’ve just looked at yes you need have PIP as that is qualifying disability benefit and they know you jumped through hoops prove that already.

Unless you are over 60 or traveling as part of group. Which think Is unfair on single travellers!

Akire · 20/01/2022 15:42

There are network cards see link if you lucky enough live in one those areas which seem offer same 1/3 for residents.

@Akire.. Thank you. I won't be getting that then. Not unless pip comeback to me and say yes, highly doubt it, from what I've heard.
I'm North Wales so not in any of the areas, plus 41 and single so not in any of the other groups. Could get the family one, but the point of going on the train would be to get away from them for a break somewhere 😂, the person I was going to go with has a senior card already, ah well, better scrap that idea.
All the different names for the benefits confuse me. Thanks Akire

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 20/01/2022 16:18

oh i didnt even know there was a disabled rail card! not that i go many places

Akire · 20/01/2022 16:21

We all used to be on DLA the Disability Living allowance. Which did what said on tin, then cut back on who qualified made it harder and renamed it PiP the personal Independent Payment. Which did no such thing as you couldn’t say I need pay for XYZ and they say here you go!

Under 18s never changed over why still read about it in places. How long ago did you apply? Sounds like you would be able get something well at least eventually!

I did look into it but I’d still have pay for carer to travel as well so we both get 1/3 off. But that still more than cost of me travelling on my own. Plus I wanted it to travel to wales so carer would “take me” as wouldn’t travel alone after bad experience on train. Then have paid full price they get back then come and collect me. So 3 tickets for 1 journey

I didnt know about disabled railcards either. May cone in handy for my trips to the zoo.

Daimyum · 20/01/2022 16:58

I think they make it complicated on purpose. I've applied for uc and pip. That's what citizens advice told me to do. Pip assessment was week after xmas and applied in Sept, so will hear soon probably.

I can walk, with crutch outside. So, prob not be given it. I've been awarded extra uc due to disability, so I was thinking probably same with pip, but hear some stories about very sick people being turned down.

We'll see.

Was trying to see if any way of saving pennies, while still having something to look forward to, being let go due to ill health soon, and waiting on another diagnosis.

Akire · 20/01/2022 17:18

It’s good have stuff to look forward too, I’m really struggling with this at moment. Life’s is just one groundhog dad after another. I should really make a bucket list for 2022

Getting really bad dizzy spells today. Had since covid but just odd spin if sat up to soon or moved head in night. But it’s every 20min or so. It’s not my iron that is amazingly doing well! No ear ache so much just be viral related or whatever. Fingers crossed nothing more serious
