I've just got another bottle of perfume from my father in law. Its not opened but he gets me the same thing every year. Last year I got four bottles from various people, none of them nice. I even have an unopened bottle of Chanel No 5, which I meant to ebay, because it ruddy stinks on me.

So, yeah, I think perfume is a boring gift. I love getting nice bath smellies though.

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 13/12/2009 18:22

well i think you a right bunch of ungrateful moaning minnies

i like perfume as long as its what i normally wear. i never buy it for myself, there is always something i need more so it never get around to buying it for me. im usually too skint.

the kids usually go and hunt out what im wearing and get me a gift set for chrimbo. and i like it. but i am boring and dont really care who else knows it

ThumbleBells · 13/12/2009 18:27

Trust me vicar, I am not ungrateful. If DH could buy Black Pearls, I would bite his hand off - but it's been discontinued. I'm pretty sure he doesn't want me to smell of cats' wee so he's best off leaving it.

tillytips · 13/12/2009 20:25

I Love getting perfume, the one i wear is pretty expensive, so can't justify buying it for myself usually. Nice to have hubby buy it for me!!

foxinsocks · 13/12/2009 20:26

I think all perfume should be banned

I might start a Daily Mail campaign.

simples

VerityBrulee · 13/12/2009 21:57

Thumblebells a little something for you

SnowMuchToBits · 13/12/2009 22:16

Wel I think it depends on the perfume. Most perfumes smell like disinfectant on me (although lovely on lots of other people). Think I must have weird skin chemistry or something....

The only one I have found that I like is Eau de Givenchy. But I already have some. So any other perfume (unless someone can miraculously find something else that smells nice on me) would be completely useless.

ThumbleBells · 14/12/2009 00:11

Thanks Verity! Just need to find some in Australia now... - no, I could get it sent to my Dad and then pick it up. Ta muchly!

VinegarTinselTits · 14/12/2009 00:23

i've asked for perfume, i've ran out of my favorite one and i cant afford to buy more, simples.

nappyaddict · 14/12/2009 00:54

Other boring gifts:

Stationary sets
Books
Housey stuff

"Other boring gifts:

Is it really sad that I'd love all those things?

juneybean · 14/12/2009 01:43

I love getting perfume for christmas, my birthdays in July so it's like I get it at even points in the year cos i use so much lol.

a dull present to me is a fucking nail set which i get every year off the same people lol

nappyaddict · 14/12/2009 03:16

I don't mind house stuff but think it should be given as a joint present. Why do the women have to get given the house stuff and the men get their own present on top?

nappyaddict · 14/12/2009 03:17

Oh and to me stationary sets are boring cos I never hand write things anymore and I don't know anyone else who does either.

moondog · 14/12/2009 06:10

I don't like perfume either.
I think it's mainly used (nay, doused) by rough birds, the kind who leave used cotton buds and grotty tissues in the open bin in the bathroom.
Yuck.

Shivvering · 14/12/2009 06:25

Hmm I was going to buy my mum perfume as I have finished her one. Possibly not then. I detest it, it's wasp/bee heaven. Possibly not in December though.

Shivvering · 14/12/2009 06:26

Sorry I should have added I detest it but wear it on nights out. In the Winter.

Earthstar · 14/12/2009 19:10

Woman who sits next to me at work wears perfume and it physically makes my eyes water at the start of the day. I don't know how to tell her. Its more gruesome than attractive.

Well we just peeked to see if my FIL had managed to buy NICE perfume aftershave. He got me 'Juicy Couture' which the review says is like something Britney Spears or Barbie should wear. I am 40. And my husband got Burberry aftershave balm. . I honestly don't even know who I could re-gift it to, so ebay or charity shop here I come. Or it'll end up gathering dust. What a waste of money. He also gave us a botle of wine we gave to him a few months ago.
