****NormaStanleyFletcher would like to say sorry as the Christmas Appeal Matching is slightly delayed****

NormaStanleyFletcher · 01/12/2009 19:58

Sorry folks

Some idiot company decided to give me a full time job earlier than expected, and I have a MASSIVE document to finish; they are paying me a load of money (well more than I have ever earned before) so I feel duty bound as the eager newbie to get it done in my free time...

I have no internet access during the day apart from BBC, tfl and a couple of others.

I have also been ill, not with a hangover from the Christmas Party, but with earache, and have had v little sleep, so had to have the day off work yesterday (so much for the eager newbie)

Anyhoo - this means that the matching will be delayed by a couple of days. Sorry

If you have a particular need to be matched early, drop me a mail ([email protected]) and I will shove you to the top of the list.

Thanks for listening.

Please bump this

Ta

Hope all's OK Norma.

IsItMeOrSanta · 14/12/2009 18:42

Hope it's all going okay at your end Norma. It will all be fine .

trace2 · 14/12/2009 19:48

whomovedmychocolate · 14/12/2009 21:20

I haven't got one either and I am working till Christmas Eve so please hurry Fletch!!!!

mejon · 14/12/2009 22:16

I'm still waiting to hear aswell. Sorry NSF.

monkeysmama · 14/12/2009 22:23

Somehow I managed to miss the Christmas appeal. Can I offer anything helpful? How does it work?

teenyweenytadpole · 14/12/2009 22:45

Ah, I am glad to find this thread as I thought somehow I had missed something. Willing donater here waiting for my matchees. Might end up being a new year present at this rate - our PO is only open twice a week!

MerlinsBeard · 14/12/2009 22:56

Monkey, it's too late for this year.

Assuming Mr NSF didn't do a good job with the matching he did the other night. Am not even going to pretend I am not nagging (no point lying !) I couldn't offer much but wanted it to be opened for Xmas or I would have started a "for free" thread. Sorry for being rude.

purplehat · 14/12/2009 23:03

This is all getting a little bit depressing. The whole spirit of the appeal is to brighten people's Christmases.
Yes, it's lovely to get something in the new year but that won't stop people having a sad and presentless Christmas.

The last posting days are looming and I just wish there was something we were able to do to help

annh · 14/12/2009 23:10

Am now getting a bit worried about Norma. Has ANYBODT received a match yet?

annh · 14/12/2009 23:10

That would be ANYBODY? God knows who/what an ANYBODT is!

QuintessentialShadows · 14/12/2009 23:19

purplehat, that sounded a bit unkind.

Fletcher is doing the best she can. She has taken on an enormous task to try and brighten the Christmas for strangers, for gain to herself. Lets not ruin the spirit of the appeal with meaningless bitching.

SantaClausImWorthIt · 14/12/2009 23:20

Agree, QS. And last posting days aren't here yet, there is still a week.

It's a thankless task and NSF has been ill as well as having to cope with a new job, so let's cut her a bit of slack.

trace2 · 14/12/2009 23:27

am not bitching but last posting day for standed parcels is tomorrow the 15th i can not afford to post any other way! i am grateful to norma for doing this, but also i wanted a musnetter to feel like my children did last christmas morning!

purplehat · 14/12/2009 23:31

I wasn't bitching at all just stating a fact

TulipsAndTinsel · 14/12/2009 23:31

i think i might be about the only one who has received a match.

I emailed [email protected] at the beginning of december as i'm in Ireland and was afraid i'd not be matched in time to post and she got back to me 5 days later.

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 14/12/2009 23:33

lets not forget 2 things.

  1. Last year quite a few people didn't receive their gifts until after Christmas - from what I recall of the thank you thread the "delay" didn't lessen their delight any less.
  1. Most of these people don't know they've been nominated. IF they're in a position where there will be NO presents under the tree you can guarantee by now they'll have prepared their DC for that. And "late" arrivals can easily be put down to a myriad of excuses when the gifts do arrive (if they do indeed arrive late).
Northernlebkuchen · 15/12/2009 00:18

Well look - Norma started this thread two weeks ago and the vast majority of donators haven't heard yet. It's understandable that people are getting a bit tense as things obviously aren't going well.

Norma - if it's too big a job to match everybody then just go through and pick out the people who need desperately to get some stuff for Christmas and match them. Then the rest of us can sort out everybody else after Christmas and in to the New Year. I'm getting the feeling this is developing in to one of those nasty huge jobs that you just can't get done unless you reduce the scope a bit. Nobody wants Norma to match herself in to a nervous breakdown and the deafening silence since Saturday is rather worrying.

LouHasSixWhiteBoomers · 15/12/2009 07:38

I have had some unexpected crapness happen and I now have to use the money put aside for the MN appeal to pay for repairs. I am really sorry but I am going to have to withdraw my offer. I can do it in early January if someone is willing to wait until then (payday)? I am really sorry

Lovecat · 15/12/2009 07:40

Norma, I really hope you're okay and not worrying yourself into a state over this (Not saying you're anything like me, I'm a horrible procrastinator, but I know how easy it is to think 'I'll do that in a minute, just do this little thing first' and then it builds and builds and builds... please don't get stressed, the last thing we want is for you to be getting anxious and panicky, thinking you can't do it...

If there's anything at all I can do to help (I met you at the London meet so we must be within travelling distance of each other) I'm free this weekend so if you want, please CAT me, I'll pop over with cake (and a bottle?) and we can go through it all.

I think my CAT is up to date, if not I'm on lovecat 66 at btinternet dot com (no spaces, @ & .).

Really hope you're okay

Flame · 15/12/2009 08:04

I didn't "prepare" my children for no presents the year it looked like we had nothing. I wasn't going to say anything to them until 22nd in the desperate hope that something would work itself out (thankfully it did - it was the year of the first appeal).
