****NormaStanleyFletcher would like to say sorry as the Christmas Appeal Matching is slightly delayed****

Sorry folks

Some idiot company decided to give me a full time job earlier than expected, and I have a MASSIVE document to finish; they are paying me a load of money (well more than I have ever earned before) so I feel duty bound as the eager newbie to get it done in my free time...

I have no internet access during the day apart from BBC, tfl and a couple of others.

I have also been ill, not with a hangover from the Christmas Party, but with earache, and have had v little sleep, so had to have the day off work yesterday (so much for the eager newbie)

Anyhoo - this means that the matching will be delayed by a couple of days. Sorry

If you have a particular need to be matched early, drop me a mail ([email protected]) and I will shove you to the top of the list.

Thanks for listening.

Please bump this

Ta

What do you mean Norma?

I think there was only one person who said she couldn't buy a gift until after Christmas though someone else did offer to take her place.

trace2 · 15/12/2009 20:45

come on ladies stop all this ! keep it special

no one is blaming anyone, just so glad norma as come back to us lets keep it that way!!

Hulababy · 15/12/2009 20:52

Have been through this thread and can't find anyone who has said they have had to pull out.

Some people have mentioned dates they ideally needed to get parcels out by, and at least one person who have said they can't do anything now until January.

But noone on here has pulled out yet.

MarioandLuigi · 15/12/2009 20:52

Dont leave!

Its an enormous task for anyone, and whe you took it on you didnt realise all the extra things that life would throw at you, its your birthday (happy birthday BTW) bloody enjoy it.

I have my match, so will sort it tomorrow

EllieG · 15/12/2009 20:55

Norma - I have not had email for ages as moved housee and no access at work but am checking now, have not forgotten and will get something out in the post tomorrow if have email from you

Lionstar · 15/12/2009 21:01

Norma you're doing a fab job, sorry it's stuffed up your birthday but I wanted to wish you a very happy one anyway

bellavita · 15/12/2009 21:01

Don't you dare leave!

bellavita · 15/12/2009 21:02

Oooh and Happy Birthday

whomovedmychocolate · 15/12/2009 21:07

Happy birthday to yooooooooohoooooooooo!

Tis rotten having a birthday so close to christmas though. I do hope you have no nasty dual purpose presents (though I'd like a sex toy that also did the washing up - but then I do have DH )

IsItMeOrSanta · 15/12/2009 21:41

Norma - Don't leave!

And try not to feel badly. You are doing a brilliant job in difficult circumstances. Christmas and weddings bring out the best and worst in people, but it will all turn out fine in the end. Everybody will get their pressies, the senders will get that warm glow of giving-ness and you will know that you made it all happen.

.

Hope you are having a well-earned birthday drink.

LouHasSixWhiteBoomers · 15/12/2009 22:08

Norma - I have had to postpone if that is ok and there is a recipient who does not mind.
aka LouIsAWeetbixKid
I am so amazed at all your hard work though and on your birthday. You deserve many many thanks!!!

Ewe · 15/12/2009 22:49

Norma - don't leave! You're doing a fab job, not your fault that real life gets in the way. I won't be posting until Mon/Tue next week so feel free to drop me to bottom of list.

Hope you're enjoying a nice birthday drink!

Lovecat · 15/12/2009 22:52

Happy birthday Norma - I'm serious about that offer of help at the weekend - put your feet up tonight and relax!

VirginPeachyMotherOfSpod · 15/12/2009 23:11

Norma please don't go

You are not a failure. You are doing your best and I admire you.

People will get treats and the world will be all the better for it.

Don't let the complainers get you down- they have no right. This always happens to volunteers- used to get it when I was a guider, and saw it as a volunteer manager- people just don't seem to get you have a RL as well.

Chin up.

Leslaki · 15/12/2009 23:12

Fletch - just got home after a LONG day at work and seen this thread and talk of leaving.

NOOOOOOOOO WAY

You are doing a great job, crystal balls are marvelous things, wouldn't we all love one.

You weren't to know all this would happen and ok some of the stuff will arrive later than planned, but, without you volunteering in the 1st place they would never have arrived at all.

SO THERE BEHAVE YOURSELF MRS

AND YES I AM SHOUTING Hope you HEAR me loud and clear.

I for one can vouch for you sending emails early, 6.08 this morning I got mine.

I'm still chilled (in more ways than one it's bloody freezin) I can hopefully deliver on christmas eve (now where's my red suit)

Oh and with only 12 mins to go

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

magicofchristmas · 15/12/2009 23:51

ZacharyQuack · 16/12/2009 00:43

littleboyblue · 16/12/2009 00:58

norma I don't know if your saw my post from earlier, but I received my gift today. I wouldn't have got anything if it wasn't for you. Thank you xxx

mumoverseas · 16/12/2009 05:46

Belated birthday greetings Norma. So sorry you've had to do all this work on your birthday.

You MUST not leave, you have taken on a HUGE job and you are getting it done, so what if its a few days later then you anticipated.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 16/12/2009 06:15

Fletch, just came back to this thread and wanted to tell you that I personally will be really annoyed if you leave. I will chastise you infact!

What I would like to say is that it speaks volumes about your character that you were prepared to take on this mammoth task in the first place. The run up to Christmas is a busy time in any family/ household and the fact that you were prepared to give up so much of your/ your DH's time at this time of year makes us all aware of what kind of woman you are- generous, kind hearted and caring and so as far as I can see you have nothing, but nothing to be ashamed of, quite the opposite infact. You have selflessly devoted time when you could have been enjoying yourself (Happy Birthday by the way) and for that reason you should be proud of yourself. I am proud of you!

I look forward to getting my match and want to thank you for your time. You'll get your rewards... and all that.

Anyway, just wanted to chuck in my tuppence worth. And shamefully admit that this is as close to giving a 'hug' as I have ever come on MN so I will replace that emotion with a manly virtual high five. Well done you xx
