****NormaStanleyFletcher would like to say sorry as the Christmas Appeal Matching is slightly delayed****

NormaStanleyFletcher · 01/12/2009 19:58

Sorry folks

Some idiot company decided to give me a full time job earlier than expected, and I have a MASSIVE document to finish; they are paying me a load of money (well more than I have ever earned before) so I feel duty bound as the eager newbie to get it done in my free time...

I have no internet access during the day apart from BBC, tfl and a couple of others.

I have also been ill, not with a hangover from the Christmas Party, but with earache, and have had v little sleep, so had to have the day off work yesterday (so much for the eager newbie)

Anyhoo - this means that the matching will be delayed by a couple of days. Sorry

If you have a particular need to be matched early, drop me a mail ([email protected]) and I will shove you to the top of the list.

Thanks for listening.

Please bump this

littleboyblue · 15/12/2009 17:54

FAB I didn't know what it was!!!!!! I opened the box before the card

FabIsGettingReadyForChristmas · 15/12/2009 17:58

HA HA

I thought there was going to have numbers on. Your gift, enjoy it .

Hulababy · 15/12/2009 17:59

Is there anything anyone else can do to help Norma.

I am not nagging, just concerned. I know that once this week is over it is going to be much harder for me to get to the post, and I certainly won't have chance over the Christmas period. So I need to be able to post asap - or it will be after the New Year.

trace2 · 15/12/2009 18:01

i will help if i can!

the thank you thread is here

NormaStanleyFletcher · 15/12/2009 20:25

Today is my 40th Birthday, and you know what, I am spending the evening doing this. I have had to do the paid job I have been given (earlier than expected by about 6 weeks, but someone kicked up a fuss and they processed our clearance etc). Me and DH were up to 1 am last night and I got up at 5.30 this morning to email people for an hour before I had to leave for work. I expect I will be up tonight too.

I will match as many as I can and email them.

I have no internet access at work (secure site)

I did get a lovely and mahoosive bunch of flowers from all of my (new) work colleagues today, which was nice, but meant that I had to hold on to them and not work on this on the way home

May have to leave MN after this

Love

awww - happy birthday - you're not a failure.

None of us can see what's going to happen in the future when we take things on.

Why don't you take up some of the offers of help - email the info and let them sort it while ou have a drink for our birthday

You're NOT a failure.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 15/12/2009 20:27

Fletch no way should you leave

and you are not a failure

and anyone who says you are can answer to me

FabIsGettingReadyForChristmas · 15/12/2009 20:28

Norma

Take no notice. People are just anxious to get things out on time.

Recipients don't know they are getting a treat.

Donors really do not need to buy things this week, they can be sent after Christmas.

Go and celebrate your birthday with your husband and forget this for a night.

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 15/12/2009 20:28

ahem - I haven't been drinking honest

that SHOULD say

email THEM the info and let them sort it while YOU have a drink for YOUR birthday ('tis most definitely not my birthday today)

Hulababy · 15/12/2009 20:28

Absolutely no reason to leave MN over this.

thesouthsbelle · 15/12/2009 20:31

norma if it makes any difference I wouldn't send mine until next monday/Tuesday anyhow so honestly i'm not fussed on mine it can wait until then to go out. xx

trace2 · 15/12/2009 20:31

happy birthday norma!! dont leave or put your self down over this, no one wants that.

if you want my help am here please say what i can help with.

ps your not a Failure, chin up !!

CMOTdibbler · 15/12/2009 20:31

Totally no need to even think of yourself as a failure - I can't imagine how much work it is to run the appeal, and with a new job you must be overwhelmed.

Happy birthday, and have a glass of wine from me - if I could send you a real one, I would

sweetgrapes · 15/12/2009 20:34

Happy Birthday!!!
I bet Santa is as stressed out as you are... No failure - it's what Christmas is like in the North Pole!

rubyslippers · 15/12/2009 20:35

happy birthday!

and don't think about leaving MN

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 15/12/2009 20:39

Gosh. Aren't people very quick to criticise, and very sloooooooooooow to volunteer.

All of you getting huffy on this thread should feel very ashamed with yourselves. We are trying to do a Good Thing here.
If it doesn't work 'perfectly' so what?
So some of your gifts will be a bit late. So what? It's not goign to count against you when you get to heaven is it?
Oh no, that wasn't a Good Thing as it arrived after christmas, begone!

FFS. get over yourselves and remember that we are doing this to make people happy, not miserable.

Happy Birthday Norma, I think you are brilliant, namechange if you feel you must but don't leave over this.

Hulababy · 15/12/2009 20:41

Have people got huggy and nasty though?

Some people have offered help. Some have expressed concerns.

Not sure people have been nasty though or even blamed anyone for anything.

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 15/12/2009 20:41

well when I was a kid Santa freequently delivered presents after Christmas Day - so I reckon he must be ultra stressed .

I haven't criticised (I hope?) - haven't offered to help - as

a) I know I'd be crap at it

b) I don't have the time (which is a horrible thing to say when Norma sounds even busier than I am right now)

Hulababy · 15/12/2009 20:41

huffy, not huggy

kidcreoleandthecoconuts · 15/12/2009 20:43

Happy Birthday Norma
You weren't to know that you would be working full time in a new job when you took on this bloody mammoth task fgs!
Leave it for tonight. Have a couple of glasses of wine and relax.
It doesn't matter when people receive the gifts really, the sentiment is still the same.

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 15/12/2009 20:43

Got confused at huggy then.
There has been no outright huffiness, but unnecessary nagging and concerned faces IMO when Norma has told us what is going on. It has obviously made Norma feel bad which is not on.
That's just my opinion though

NormaStanleyFletcher · 15/12/2009 20:43

Right

I think that some people may have had to pull out

Can someone read thread and find them all and email me

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 15/12/2009 20:43

hula I was wondering about huggy, rofl
