There there, it's all over now pet

I'm just back from the 24 hour Asda, it was mental!

mazzystartled · 24/12/2008 01:01

oh dear
dh is there as we speak
are we talking empty shelves apart from many tons of sausagemeat?
is our hope for salad a futile one?

Dragonbrandybutter · 24/12/2008 01:04

forget salad.
or after eights.
the shelves were empty but the staff were pushing around huge crates looking like they might stock up the shelves at some point.
and forget seafood sauce.

i'm sure the clever idea (apart from those who order their online shopping in july) is to get up ridiculously early like 4am and go into tescos. But, when i finally go to bed tonight I have no intention of getting out of it for a very long time.

It was like a trolley assault course trying to get round all the cages full of stuff to be packed out!

Definitely NO salad in Asda!

LadyOfWaffle · 24/12/2008 01:07

Deary me, DH is going in the morning. Only 365 days to go before it's all happening again!

juneybean · 24/12/2008 01:10

I'm so naive! I thought going to 24hr Asda at 9pm would be a brilliant idea....as if! Still chockablock!

Dragonbrandybutter · 24/12/2008 01:10

it's not happening again.
seriously.
i just put the shopping away and have decided that i am going to work my scalydragonybottom off this year so we can have a holiday somewhere next year instead.

for me 2009 will be my 'year of the career'!
what do you think?

MumHadEnoughTinsel · 24/12/2008 01:17

I think its a fab idea!

Last year we went to Tenerife and flew back on Christmas Day. We came home at 8pm, my mum had came round to our house and was putting Christmas dinner on the table as we arrived and had all ds's presents laid out from Santa. I so wished I could have stayed on holiday though and was really sad to leave.

We couldn't go away this year as we're having an extension built, in fact I have very little kitchen and we're having Chinese for Christmas dinner. So my trip to Asda tonight was purely self inflicted cos I didn't want to miss out on the madness of Christmas shopping . (Oh and dh needed his Irn Bru fix!)

slavetomykids · 24/12/2008 01:19

I went earlier, ours was so bare, it was like Woolies.

Dragonbrandybutter · 24/12/2008 01:27

ok, i'm off to bed.
i'll be dreaming of empty aisles and the salad famine.

I went to tescos and asda this eveing, but I had only a few things to get and managed the slalom with just a hand basket for protection, not too bad but a few bare shelfs in the veg and bread bit.

Asda carpark looked scary so I parked nearby and walked over, so didn't have to spend 45 min negotiating for a parking space, then weave my way back out after round the ridiculous road system in the car park.

JOY!!

Argh I have to go into town tomorrow for 1 thing

smartiejakeonachristmascake · 24/12/2008 04:46

I went to our local supermarket on Monday evening at 7. It was fully stocked and like a ghost town.

'Twas lovely!

2gorgeousboys · 24/12/2008 05:08

I will be going to Sainsburys shortly - am hoping will be stocked BUT I only need a few things .

Wish me luck!
