mine is the pet shop boys LP that had 'shopping' on it, the first Aha album (take on me/sun always shines on tv), and bonjovi (slippery when wet).

I got each LP at xmas when I was 13/14/15 (one per year).

what was yours???

You're obviously a bit younger than me

The Grease double album would be mine, or Duran Duran's Rio...

hecAteAMillionMincePies · 20/12/2008 18:39

i remember getting bucks fizz one christmas.

my camera never lies, land of make believe..

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 20/12/2008 18:40

oh oh! yy to Duran Duran. And Let's Dance by Bowie. And The Eurythmics Sweet Dreams lp, which I bought at Woolies with my xmas dosh. And The Thompson Twins! And Yazoo!

JingleBellaAllTheWay · 20/12/2008 18:40

A true classic that was, Hecate.

David van Day sat in front of me on a plane once [pre-pubescent swoon]

KbearingGiftsWeTraverseAfar · 20/12/2008 18:41

Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet, Yazoo - Upstairs at Erics (swoon). I can hear the heartbreak and hormones from here!

JingleBellaAllTheWay · 20/12/2008 18:41

I know, Dasher.

I can almost smell the Miss Selfridge perfume as I type...

KbearingGiftsWeTraverseAfar · 20/12/2008 18:41

David Van Day was in Dollar was he not?

JingleBellaAllTheWay · 20/12/2008 18:43

Oh yes, I used to think he was the most handsome man in the entire world. Don't fancy him at all now, but then he would probably reckon I haven't weathered too well either

psychohohohoho · 20/12/2008 18:43

sounds like I am a bit younger then, altho not by so much.....I am (almost) 36!

You are a mere slip of a thing, psycho.

A true youngster

hecAteAMillionMincePies · 20/12/2008 18:45

yes he was, he also joined bucks fizz at some point in the 90's.

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 20/12/2008 18:45

Abba Arrival

JingleBellaAllTheWay · 20/12/2008 18:46

Was that the one with them in the helicopter on the front, Onebat?

{Amazes herself with ability to recall Abba album covers from [ahem] 30 years ago but cannot remember dh's name most days]

KbearingGiftsWeTraverseAfar · 20/12/2008 18:48

Dollar and Bucks Fizz in one career - the dizzy heights of fame eh?!!

Abba Arrival - oh yessss

What about Rick Astley? and Paul Young - everyone in the world had those

JingleBellaAllTheWay · 20/12/2008 18:49

Never bought Rick Astley - I was way too cool.

Which is why I now have an extensive Cliff Richard collection

Hassled · 20/12/2008 18:51

ELO - Into The Blue. Had Horace Wimp and Mr Blue Sky on it. Actually, a damn fine album.

saltiresaysSANTA · 20/12/2008 18:51

I have got Now 1 on vinyl.
In answer to the OP though it would ahve to be something such as Kings of the Wild Frontier(although I was only 9 when it was released)

"So unplug the jukebox and do us all a favour"

or something by Duran Duran

hecAteAMillionMincePies · 20/12/2008 18:52

not me. crappolla!

My sister, otoh, had a HUGE crush on Rick Astley - posters above her bed and everything! sad really.

She had a thing about cliff too, jingle. had tapes. although I must admit his early, more lively, stuff was quite good.

janeite · 20/12/2008 18:52

Not an LP but Wham's Last Christmas.
Now That's What I Call Music One.
Ultravox - can't remember what it was called but it was a baby blue colour.

Then I went all Indie so it would be The Pogues "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" and The Smiths "Strangeways here We Come".

psychohohohoho · 20/12/2008 18:52

my DH is 38, and he made me gag when I met him with his LP collection....

t'was all rick astley/kylie minogue/bananarama/kim wilde

in fact, I think he also had all the stock, atkin and waterman lot!!

and he thinks I have an odd taste in music.

Hassled · 20/12/2008 18:53

Have checked and I made up the Horace Wimp thing. Still a great album - Turn to Stone and Sweet Talking Woman.

psychohohohoho · 20/12/2008 18:54

I have now 4 on LP.

you know the saddest thing......I have all my old LP's in the attic, and nothing to play them on anymore as we have micro music centre....

Lizzylou · 20/12/2008 18:54

Aha, Hunting High and Low, oh I wept over many a crush to that song

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 20/12/2008 18:55

saltiresaysSANTA · 20/12/2008 18:55
