I don't have any.
On my left my neighoburs have - on the garage roof a metal santa in a sleigh with 3 reindeers, all of which light up. This is surrounded by blue fflashing lights that make it look like there is a police car outside the boys bedroom windown until midnight. They have a snowman on the porch roof along with 3 strings of white lights and round the poles on the porch are multi coloured lights, and on the front a big light up Merry Christmas sign. Round the back they have tree lights and a prjection thing with a big picture of Santa.

To my right we have a 12 foot inflatable snowman on the garage roof, tethered down partly on my side! He is accompanined by a flashing reindeer and a mvoing santa which lights up. Again we have blue flashing lights similar to a police car parked outside. There is then white flashing lights across the fornt of their garage and across their porch and then strung across and tethered to the garage wall on their other side. There is a large inflatable snowglobe type thing with snowmen inside. All their fir trees, bushes and planst are strung with flashing red lights. There is a big santa on the porch roof and a 10 ft high Homer Simpson dressed as santa up there as well.
The neighbours either think I'm a tight fisted Scot who doesn't want to pay for the electric or I'm boring

red lights across the front. Neighbours are missing our blue ones from last year, but they died.

Chilimama · 10/12/2008 13:59

About half the street have displays similar to your neighbours, one person down the road has built an entire santas grotto in their front garden. We have a simple tree and some stars in the window (inside).

I think we are viewed as a bit boring because we don't have a giant inflatable Homer Simpson dressed in a santa outfit on our drive like most people!

I have to say I detest the blue lights that seem to be so in fashion the past few years, they are not in the least bit "christmassy" - apologies to anyone who has them, they remind me of emergency services vehicles too

saltire · 10/12/2008 13:59

I do have some lights at the DSes bedroom window!

We live on a square surrounded by townhouses, all the houses have outside stairs going up to the front door and no front garden so most people just do a door wreath and white lights up the bannisters. Roof is 4storeys up so nobody sticks anything on the roof.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 10/12/2008 14:07

oh you won't like my blue led lights hung out the front and the 4 blue led sticks ? with baubles on then

Over the road we have a train lot's of lights a huge santa and 3 singing/dancing santas.

Next tot ehm they have lights , tree and reindeers

and so on !!!

GraceGrapello · 10/12/2008 14:07

How can you put an apostrophe in "LOTS"?

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 10/12/2008 14:11

Like this lot's

I was thinking last night as I drove home,'I wonder why blue lights came into such vogue'..I dont mind them per se but blue isnt all that festive a colour is it.

We have a sort of star made from twigs which I have put lots of white lights around and hung from our hanging basket bracket at the front door.I consider it to look tasteful in a sort of Country Living Christmas issue sort of way.
DH thinks it looks satanic and the Star 'reminds him of the bundles of twigs in the Blair Witch Project'.We have agreed to disagree.

Our neighbours have got a MASSIVE,(it must be 9 foot from hoof to top of antler)inflatable Rudolph grazing on their front lawn.Except is is kind of kept inflated by a fan that only comes on intermitently. In between times it looks a bit saggy and deflated and like it would like to give up.I dont blame it

Chilimama · 10/12/2008 14:16

I'm sure they look lovely Lily

TheGreatChristmasEvie · 10/12/2008 14:19

Also DD1 and I made a big Christmas tree shape out of green card which we stuck to the French Doors. She made baubles out of card stuck with glitter and bits of coloured tissue in balls and we stuck tinsel on it with tape. Its quite jolly and with the added advantage that it kept her occupied for 4 hours one afternoon Can thoroughly reccomend!

saltire · 10/12/2008 14:19

Maybe they are meant to represent Ice?
Those 2 are the only houses in our street which are done up like that.

I have twinkly lights just on my porch, over my front door. All my neighbours have tastedful lights, except for the lady that lives opposite me who has all manner of hideous lights and Father Christmas things going on in her windows.

Pinkjennybellrock · 10/12/2008 14:20

tasteful

Othersideofthechannel · 10/12/2008 14:21

None.
DS would love us to have some in the style of your neighbours.

NomDePlume · 10/12/2008 14:22

Wreath on front door

That's it.

Immediate neighbours have nothing so far, no idea about others on the road (not easy to see their front doors as we are all set back quite far from the road).

TheGreatChristmasEvie · 10/12/2008 14:29

PinkJenny-admit it-your lights are fluoro pink and feature a life size statue of him out of One Tree hill dressed in Christmas garb, picked out in twinkly bulbs!
I know it!

lionheart · 10/12/2008 14:32

House opposite has a luminous santa and sleigh plus an enormous garland of blue flashing lights. Can be seen from the end of the road and probably from the moon.

frankbestfriend · 10/12/2008 14:34

Berry wreath, multicoloured lights on the potted conifer by the front door.

Very tasteful

Neighbours all have similar or none. No huge santas or reindeers here.

cherryontopofthexmastree · 10/12/2008 14:35

mine a v v v tasteful, i have white flashing icicles in living room window, and a big holly berry and leaves garland round the front door with white static lights in it. looks lovely. inside of the house isnt quite so tasteful though

Pinkjennybellrock · 10/12/2008 14:36

Oh dahling, I am a mass of contradictions, my house is very tasteful, I can assure you.

saltire · 10/12/2008 14:36

Maybe all these blue flashing lights are a co-ordinated effort to send a message to any aliens thinking of landing here.

MamaHobgoblin · 10/12/2008 14:38

We (will, in another week) have some gold lights in the bush by the front door. Wreath on door, another one on the gate. Nowt else, but I put gold lights on suckers round the front window, indoors.

There is a mad person in the village who adds to his collection of OTT lights every year, and has a strange fixation with bicycles... he has, as of last year, about 8 santas riding penny farthings and bikes round his garden!

Woolfincheapclothing · 10/12/2008 14:40

None at all.

sagacious · 10/12/2008 14:42

None on ours (dh also subscribes to the Blair Witch Project theory on wreathes and I can't be arsed to argue)

Over the road has white lights on some trees which looks very pretty.

I don't like blue lights.

bozza · 10/12/2008 14:43

We have white static lights on bushes under front window - the window is a bay and raised up from a sloping lawn because we are on a slight hill. Also wreath next to front door in recess because front door is metal. Next door have viscious flashing blue lights along top of garage. Other houses have white lights, some on garages, some on trees.
