I don't have any.
On my left my neighoburs have - on the garage roof a metal santa in a sleigh with 3 reindeers, all of which light up. This is surrounded by blue fflashing lights that make it look like there is a police car outside the boys bedroom windown until midnight. They have a snowman on the porch roof along with 3 strings of white lights and round the poles on the porch are multi coloured lights, and on the front a big light up Merry Christmas sign. Round the back they have tree lights and a prjection thing with a big picture of Santa.

To my right we have a 12 foot inflatable snowman on the garage roof, tethered down partly on my side! He is accompanined by a flashing reindeer and a mvoing santa which lights up. Again we have blue flashing lights similar to a police car parked outside. There is then white flashing lights across the fornt of their garage and across their porch and then strung across and tethered to the garage wall on their other side. There is a large inflatable snowglobe type thing with snowmen inside. All their fir trees, bushes and planst are strung with flashing red lights. There is a big santa on the porch roof and a 10 ft high Homer Simpson dressed as santa up there as well.
The neighbours either think I'm a tight fisted Scot who doesn't want to pay for the electric or I'm boring

we have none.just about to move.usually just a little santa on doorstep.
neighbour has what seems like a million fairy lights in trees.looks pretty and children love it but bit migrane inducing.

ComeOVeneer · 10/12/2008 14:46

What is the Blair witch theory (never seen it)?

Andthentherewerethree · 10/12/2008 14:48

none yet and nothig excpet for a wreath on the fornt door whe we do decorate. a few people in our street have decorations up but usually just a tree in the bay window or a santa stop here )non light up) sign in the garden, no flashing lights or inflatbale santas here.

LouMacca · 10/12/2008 14:54

We have some tasteful outside fairy lights on the two small conifer trees either side of our front door and a pretty sparkly wreath on the front door.

Our neigherbours have a family of glowing golden reindeers (a 6ft , a 5ft and a 3ft) on the front lawn, 2 giant lit-up snowmen on the front lawn, a Santa climbing up the side on the house on an illuminated ladder, a Father Christmas's head popping out of a giant present on the roof and various lights/icicles/neon signs on all of the windows.

My friends think its hilarious, I don't!

neighbours

LunarSea · 10/12/2008 15:32

We have tasteful white (not flashing) icicle lights over the apex of the garage/office, and two large candle lanterns in the front windows. If I can find it will add the Swedish candle arch, but it's gone awol at the moment.

GoodWilfToAllMN · 10/12/2008 15:35

Oh god no. If my neighbours had uplit inflatables I'd be calling the council to slap an Asbo on them. Or the taste police. Or the eco warriors (they could bring pins and magnet to fuck em all up)

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 10/12/2008 15:38

We have nothing. Down the road there is a giant hot airballoon in lights. I think it says ho ho ho on it.
Thats it.

I fancy some outdoor lights this year. it would be cheery up-y.

littlerach · 10/12/2008 15:41

WE have a wreath.

2 doors dpwn have a santa up a ladder.

Next door to them have the 3 kings, like bronzed ones, and a huge christmas tree with lights on, but they are about 15' back from the road.

3 door the other way have a beaiutiful nativity tableau which is lit up and suspended between 2 trees.
It sounds odd, but is lovely to see.

sazzerbear · 10/12/2008 15:44

At least you have not got an inflatable Homer Simpson dressed as Santa - my friend has this monstrosity next door to her!

NomDePlume · 10/12/2008 15:51

Forgot to say that neighbours on one side are Muslim and neighbour on other side is a single man in his 40's. Neither of which are all that bothered by xmas decs.

sazzerbear · 10/12/2008 15:58

Isn't the credit crunch affecting the electricity budgets for these light shows? (it should do!)

DeckHallsWithFIMBOughsofHolly · 10/12/2008 15:58

Nobody in my street has any decorations up yet either indoors or out apart from us although one critter has some blue flashing police lights but they are good bit away from us.

Mercy · 10/12/2008 16:03

A wreath that dd made.

I've only spotted one other wreath so far, apart from that, nothing. It's still too early imo.

Inflatable snowmen etc is a mad idea.

NomDePlume · 10/12/2008 16:07

Fimbo, are you sure that house isn't being raided ?

ohreindeerwhatamessysleigh · 10/12/2008 16:07

We don't have many neighbours (small village, mainly fields by us), but one lot have some lovely white lights on an outside bush.

saltire · 10/12/2008 16:09

sazzer - I wondered about the electricty as well. One of my neighbours keeps the inflatable snowglobe going all night! And we do ahve the Homer Simpson dressed as Santa on one side of us.

brightwell · 10/12/2008 16:09

We have white twinling lights in a bush outside the front door.

GoodWilfToAllMN · 10/12/2008 16:11

Unless you've got yer own wind turbine, it should be banned, I tell you, BANNED!

sazzerbear · 10/12/2008 16:47

Imagine having no neighbours - that WOULD be a Happy Christmas!

girlywhirly · 10/12/2008 17:16

Our neighbours are quite restrained with their external lights, tend to be a few strings of icicle lights, static lights on shrubs, wreaths etc.

We have a giant lit (static) snowflake in kitchen window as it's at the front, a fresh fir wreath (unlit) with baubles etc hung next to front door, and a decorated conifer in a pot on the step. We tend only to put internal Christmas lights on after dark, or if we have guests, but they are on all day Christmas day. I can't cope with flashing lights at all.

ForeverOptimistic · 10/12/2008 17:19

Nobody has put any up yet, usually it is just wreaths and occasionally outdoor trees have lights. I can't imagine an inflatable santa being allowed round here, it is a conservation area doncha know.

BexieID · 10/12/2008 17:23

We live righ on the High Street, so get to enjoy the councils lovely flashing decorations! I do have some lights/bauble thing to put in the living room window when I get around to it!

Lizzylou · 10/12/2008 17:25

We have a wreath on the door, some clear non-flashing icicle lights across the garage and a clear lit santa outline at he front window.

If I had my way we would have a sleigh with reindeers on the front garden, but DH vetoed.

Neighbours just have some lights here and there, no inflatable Santas, but it is so windy here you'd find the Santa 1/2 mile away after a night if you did attempt it.

Strange, I used to think outdoor lights were very tacky before having DC, now I love them.

noiamnot · 10/12/2008 17:26

nothing yet.

each year I keep meaning to buy something during january sales but never have any money left.

neighbors don't really have much up yet.
