I have made journal jars for my dds. I think they will really love them. Basically I've bought pretty, hard backed notebooks and decorated them with the girls' names, photographs etc. Then I've decorated jars to match and filled them with "Inspiration slips" of things to write in their journals. I've put some stickers and ribbons in the jars, so they can decorate their journal entries and have attached a tiny diary-type pen to the outside of the jars. It cost about £3.50 each (got the idea from Money Saving Expert) and I think it will be one of their favourite presents (hopeful mummy emoticon).

I stumbled accross Rainbow in my room and Moon in my room, both were £20 each. Googled and got them cheaper in Argos, so reserved the two. My kids will love them.

A book called Harry Builds a House from the Oxfam bookshop in Reading for £1.49. I have read it at my sister's house, her son loves it, and i just had to get it for my friend's two boys as her partner is a builder. It's a lovely book showing hippos building a house, very detailed and technical.

A DVD of the whole series of Edge of Darkness for DH.

He was talking about it the other day (it was on years ago) and I just happened to see an ad in the Guardian for it. And only £9.99!

BreevandercampLGJ · 08/12/2008 20:52

DS wanted Catch a beast (allegedly this years must have toy) He will be getting it.

He also wanted Rock Star Air Guitar, so I got that as well.

I have a feeling, I am going to regret the rock star air guitar.

Edge of Darkness is great.

I've also just ordered a rainbow in my room after your recommendations- only £9.79 in Argos! Thanks

I have been secretly knitting DH a jumper and am very proud of it as its the biggest thing I have ever made. (he did ask for one). Huge labour of love as I am quite rubbish at knitting and have been doing it since september.
Hoping to finish it tonight! He wont ever be getting another though!

I got moon in my room for all 3 kids young and old! They are just lovely.
