thisis why I thought the rainbow in my room was too expensive! Grrrrrrr!

callmeovercautious · 09/12/2008 20:21

Wallace - that is the sort of thing my Grandma would have loved. She will also know it took some effort to get for her and will be all the more special Much better than lavender soap

Made me remember my Grandma.

The moon one looks great, DD has just started sleeping without a BF and goes to sleep for DH a treat - me she hates now! Perhaps a moon will help as she loves it

gemmiereindeerlegs · 09/12/2008 20:26

i got dd a plain dolls house from Toys r Us, i had a coupon so it only cost 45 quid and i got a £10 voucher when I bought it too. It has all the furniture and people included. Today i painted it. it has gone from drab to fab. it looks great and I have saved myself at least £100 on a ready painted one.

EachPeachPearMum · 09/12/2008 22:53

oh- gemmie- what colours and paints did you use?
I bought the same one for DD!

gemmiereindeerlegs · 10/12/2008 19:08

well we have done complete renovation to our house this year so I had loads of leftover pots of paint. i have painted the main house blue with white trim and pink for the roof and door. It looks like a giant cake!

BellsCarolsNSleighs · 10/12/2008 19:38

LadyBuntingofCupcake · 10/12/2008 19:42

A chunky knit wrap from Blooming Marvellous for my pg sil, was half price, also used MN discount code - so a bargain!

weblette · 10/12/2008 19:45

A Polar Express Brio train set - have ordered it from the US. Ds2 will be in choo choo heaven.

MincePirateCat · 10/12/2008 19:47

got my dad a book. i couldn't think of anything to get him this year. It's an obscure book about the founding of the oil industry in the north sea. It was my dad's life yrs ago, being offshore, and he often talks about it in it's heyday,i think he'll enjoy it.

i hope.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 10/12/2008 19:59

we got my parents a really cool gift.

they like wine. months and months ago we were in a wine shop here in the UK and we saw a gift box of 6 bottle of wine. each individually wrapped with tasting notes for each. the idea is that you drink the wine then open the tasting notes. BUT my parents are in Canada. you can't ship alcohol to Canada. SOOOO we contacted the only specialty wine shop in the city they live in and they are doing up a box for us! and because the canadian dollar is worth half of the pound we can get REALLY nice wines! We are so excited about this gift!! They had better damn well like it for all this effort!

scifinerd · 10/12/2008 20:06

Oh wow weblette where did you get the polar express train from, my ds obsessed with it?

LittleJingleBellas · 10/12/2008 20:09

Anna8888 · 10/12/2008 20:12

DD already has this overhead light in her room.

We have bought her this light to put over her bed.

LittleJingleBellas · 10/12/2008 20:14

Netto were doing doll's house for £30 + loads of furniture last week - don't know if thye've still got any left

purplemonkeydishwasher · 10/12/2008 20:19

Oh! and we got DS a bean bag chair. here
he's going to LOVE it!!
i have to highly recommend the company as well. prices were great and delivery was quick! and the bean bag chair looks really sturdy (and it's spill proof!!)

EachPeachPearMum · 10/12/2008 20:33

gemmie - it sounds gorgeous!
We haven't even built DD's yet, as we have nowhere to hide it she nearly found the box the other day when I was reaching something from the closet it's hidden in... but I have very firmly banned her (on grounds of 'it's dangerous- things may fall on your head) from there, so hopefully there will be no sneak previews.

HeadFairy · 10/12/2008 20:38

these slippers for my mum, she's loaded, got everything, has lovely clothes and a gorgeous house. She is the original impossible person to buy for, but I think she'll love these because their kitchen floor has got flag stone tiles which are perishing cold in winter!

mummydoc · 11/12/2008 08:55

dd2 is getting a mini (electronic) grand piano from John lewis - cannot do link too techno stupid, she loves to bang on our piano especially when dd1 trying to practise and keeps asking for a piano of her own ...it just loos so cute, i am going to have to put a candleabra on top just to finish off the look.....

kitbit · 11/12/2008 09:21

ds (4) was very specific about what he'd like: a castle, a rocket and a frog throwing a ball into the castle .
Good old ebay came up trumps, dh has been happily occupied pressing buttons and sniggering whilst buying various collections of mad looking knights with bonkers accessories from Playmobil, and I have even managed to rig up a stuffed frog (50p from Ikea yay!) so that it looks like its firing the trebuchet. All for very few pennies. Am loving ebay. Did I mention that?

starbear · 11/12/2008 10:30

I'm chuffed to have got my mum a tray with a beaded cushion for £7.00. Two pretty note pads for friends (one said she wouldn't buy her self those things but like them as gifts) all from Wilkinsons. My DH won't step foot in there so I'm pleased I didn't wait until we went Christams shopping together on Saturday

starbear · 11/12/2008 10:32

Oh! A dolls house for god daughter from GLTC that is now almost half price. I've been yes/no about this for over a year. So I'm glad I waited

Madsometimes · 11/12/2008 10:34

Mamma Mia for me!

weblette · 11/12/2008 11:18

scifinerd - look on ebay, it's being shipped from the US but you may just have time.

Lizzylou · 11/12/2008 11:19

2 handmade personalised picture frames made my very clever friend for my neice and nephew. They in box frames, have their names on, one has a fairy and one has a train.
They are gorgeous, my friend is very clever.
