I have got dd1 a beautiful light up globe from amazon - half price it was too. It's fab!

donnie · 09/12/2008 13:59

also a dinky little dressing up nurse costume from woolies ( rest in peace emoticon).

I've got myself the older 2 DS's a Wii - ordered it months ago on interest free (and paying it back with money that a friend is paying back to me for a holiday we went on in the summer holidays). They're going to be SOOOOOOO chuffed as they gave up asking for one ages ago as I said "no you have a PS2 you don't need a Wii".

I asked DS1 (8) last night what he would really like FC to bring him (reminding him that he might not actually get that - it was just to give FC an idea) and he said "anything Hot Wheels - don't mind what" (awww bless him )

jumpingbeans · 09/12/2008 14:05

Got two wii's one for ds house and one dd house, they will all be thrilled, they all want one but can't afford this year, good old grandad and grandma, bloody games are expensive though

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 09/12/2008 14:06

jumping - I've been quite clever (I think) - got the Wii Sports, and Wii Play - then told exH that if he wanted ideas for Christmas presents for them then a Wii game each would be good to go with it and that's what he's getting them

TrinityRhino · 09/12/2008 14:08

I have a wii fit in the cupboard.
I bought it for me
I am insanely excited about it

dd1 has one of them on the top of her list but has been told they are too much money

DebiTheScotUpAChimney · 09/12/2008 14:13

Not a Christmas present but a birthday present that I am very proud of. My mil lives about 600 miles away and misses her grandkids so much so for her birthday ds1 and I made a scrapbook with photos of her and him over the past 2 1.2 years, photos of him (one with body parts labelled by him, one by his height chart etc), hand and foot prints, pictures he'd coloured of his favourite things etc etc. She loved it and has shown it to everyone she knows.

Christmas presents that I think are good are restaurant vouchers that we've got for a few people. We're getting the train to Scotland for Christmas so all presents have to be small (or delivered to Scotland in advance) and I thought they were a much nicer idea than shop vouchers.

vacaloca · 09/12/2008 17:50

Debi, that sounds fantastic. It must have taken ages but probably really worth it. I would love something like that.

I'm making a 'teacher pack' for my 5yo DD, who is obsessed with school registers, etc. I bought a clipboard and I made some school register templates in Word, some 'special helper' badges, post it notes, star and dot stickers, etc. It cost very little and I bet it'll be one of her favourite presents.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 09/12/2008 18:01

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/12/2008 18:04

not got it yet but lidl have raclettes in on monday that dh has wanted for years but when we first looked were£100 this one is £12.50..bargain

fakeblonde · 09/12/2008 18:07

So what are/is rainbow in my room or moon ?

stealthsquiggle · 09/12/2008 18:08

Nemo - £12.50 would be almost worth it to wind my DH up - he hates raclette

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/12/2008 18:09

pmsl stealth.
I think dh only likes it because he was mightly impressed at the age of 8/9yrs old going to someones house and using one. He is now nearly 32 and cant remember the lads name but knows what he cooked

stealthsquiggle · 09/12/2008 18:11

rainbow in my room

DS got moon in my room from us last year for his b'day - it is rather lovely. Then PIL bought it for him for his birthday this year - oops.

TheMuppetsChristmasMuggle · 09/12/2008 18:12

I got DP a model Mcclaren Formula 1 car. he has to make and paint it. bargain at £20 in hobbycraft. hes really into F1

stealthsquiggle · 09/12/2008 18:15

Nemo I can well imagine it was cool when you were 8/9 - and I think DS would like it (I do too). I suspect DH's problem is that he was way too old and cynical before he first met one.

Temptation is offset by the difficulty/cost of getting raclette cheese other than in France.

callmeovercautious · 09/12/2008 19:46

I am not posting any more of my plans on here. I recommended a nightlight/clock I was going to get DD. Went to buy it and they had sold out

Oh OK then. I got my Nephew this . His Dad is a real comic nut so I know it is something they will enjoy doing together.

BTW the yellow moon site is great as it donates a % of your spend to local groups and charities, you can search for a local playgroup etc and choose your money to go to them. We give ours to our local toddler group.

seeker · 09/12/2008 19:52

I started a thread about mine today - the rent of a cherry tree for a year for my db and his family, and some really really funky but incredibly cheap glasses for my dd!

TheChristmasArmadillo · 09/12/2008 19:56

we have made ds a pirate treasure box - we are going to hide it and put arrows leading to it on christmas morning.

We (ok dp) covered shoe box in brown paper and made a fake lock and straps on it. Inside is shiny things - a jar of chocolate coins, a jar of jelly tots, marbles, shiny paper and some of that christmas table confetti. Are planning to get together a jar of pennies as well (ds loves pennies - may have to steal some from his random collections from around the house).

Am very pleased with it.

Also took ds today to a pottery cafe thing to paint MIL a teapot - cost a fortune but he loved doing it, she will love it and he will be very proud of himself

seeker · 09/12/2008 20:01

Thank you so much for telling me about the Rainbow and Moon in Rooms at Argos - I've lloed at them in posh catalogues and they are much more money than that!

Wallace · 09/12/2008 20:10

For my Grandma:

I hae been looking into her family history, and her father's family were well-to-do manufacturing ironmongers all the way back the early 19th century (at least)

I just happened to search for her family name and ironmonger on ebay and came up with an original newspaper article from 1862 about the International Exhibition with a big picture of some lovely gates made by the company, with a column about them.

I just know she will be so happy

SmallShips · 09/12/2008 20:15

Just ordered a moon in your room from Argos for DS who is moon mad, on offer at £13. Thanks.
