Hi all. I'm just caretaking until Reastie returns, but here's our new thread. Please do use up the old one first though.

This is intended as a friendly, kind, safe, warm and fuzzy place for people to share discounts, bargains and Christmas gift ideas both online and IRL. Please note the tone and intention of the thread and join with spirit as generous as DC helping themselves to the Christmas chocolate celebrations

Here’s some useful information about how to save the thread or a specific post so you don’t need to have a message to check in for every thread so you have the thread saved:

To watch the thread - click on the little bell that has ‘watch’ under my first message. This adds the whole thread to your ‘watched threads’

You can also bookmark a specific post by clicking on the ‘bookmark’ under the specific post. This saves your exact place in a thread but doesn’t alert you to new replies.

If you have any referral links or codes, please share them on the referral thread here:

Coconut Lane London has lots of pretty iPhone covers reduced. I also did the spin the wheel and got a 30% off code which worked on the sale items - LOVE302. I bought 3 at £2.00, reduced down to £1.40!

There's a lot on vinted if you don't mind second hand. I got one for about £30. Also thought it was a bit pricey new - haven't given it yet but entertained me for quite a while when I "tested" it!

definitely the gift that keeps on giving for us. Have had it 2 years and still use it regularly. The quizzes and the games make it interactive and is great for siblings. you can buy an advanced pack to go along with it but we havent need it so far.
the stylus can be a bit fiddly but my boys love it

We made this mistake. Sort of killed it for mine. The brio is so much more usable.
have you looked at the play train range? This came out after mine were little, so I’ve no personal experience but it might tick the box.

@Gingerbreadseasoniscoming we bought them the lego set, then the extension set, then the bridge set and now thinking of the construction set.. we found any other trains too fiddly at their age.
not inexpensive but lasts as lego does!

Thankyou! I just added the 100ml Shea with the code and it worked for me!

Can I ask how you are getting the Shea too? I have FOMO if I don’t get both 😀 complete sheep and only buying having seen this thread

I just worked this out after entering the code three times with no success! You have to add the shea hand cream to your basket before adding the code.

Are there any good (non Degusta) food advent calendars out there? I’m a bit late off the mark I fear. The M&S one looked good but is sold out and Fortnum’s looks lush but sooo spendy. It’s for DS who’s 18 and away at Uni

Aquicksitdown · 06/11/2026 14:08

Can anyone recommend a remote controlled plane suitable for 5 year olds?! My DS is set on asking Father Christmas for one and can't be persuaded to change it to a sports car instead (which is what I already bought him ages ago 🙄)
Have found a few on Amazon but can't find many with decent reviews...

This doesn’t work for me, says the Shea code is not available to me… 🤔

Bonnie Maman advent calendar perhaps, with little jars of jams/spread. could be ideal for a student if they eat as much toast as I did in uni days!!

The M&S one sold out so fast!

Fevertree gin and mixer was in JL, that with a nice chocolate one. They also had a ‘Beers and bar snacks’.

Lots of coffee ones available.

DH is getting the Selfridges mince pie one!

Alternatively send a Christmas hamper for festive indulgence.

Please can I have some help with ideas? My Mum turns 80 just after Christmas. We were going to go away for a weekend and activity for her gift, as a surprise, but that's had to be cancelled as her mobility has worsened so this trip isn't feasible or suitable anymore. So I now need a more traditional gift, or gifts, for Christmas and Birthday! I'd like to get her something special, and can join with my sister for something more costly. I'd thought of a Liberty voucher or similar, but I'm sure we could do something else. All ideas welcome please!

BeaLola · 06/11/2026 14:36

daisyboo1 what sort of budget ? Is your Mum able to go out ? Would one of those streamed to cinema live theatre /opera or ballet events work as a treat ?

It keeps wanting me to sign in to my ‘shop’ account. I tried signing in to body shop too though. I can’t see where to add the code until I get to the check out page though which seems to be via Shop & then it says not valid.
wouldn’t let me add blue light code either

Wow Just seen the mince pie one ! Looks amazing

Would love to buy for DH but wish it wasn't £40 😬

Try to sign out of shop - it seems too have a memory of 1000 years even if you use another email !

Make sure you have a Body Shop account t and have joined the Love Your Body club bit.

If you use email and don’t enter the shop code - ignore even if they send it (I am sure it’s the devil in disguise!) then you will get a Body Shop code to your email and use that.

then refresh - fingers crossed !

I can't remember who was asking about Degusta to NI but the one we sent to Belfast has been delivered and, based on the doorstep pic, looks to be unbroken

Evri delivered the other (mainland) yesterday and then sent the collection, out for delivery, delivered notice and request for a review all in the space of 2 minutes this morning 🙄so if anyone is thinking theirs hasn't been dispatched yet, you may get it quicker than you think!

Regarding Vinyl players, I have researched extensively on this and think I can help.

The ones that have the speakers built in are handy and cheap but they have a lower quality of sound and will damage vinyls over time. For the normal user, this won't be an issue, but if you're a collector and want to keep things in good order, avoid like the plague.

The best bang for your buck is hands down:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PS-LX3BT-Bluetooth-Turntable-Operation-Black/dp/B0GF9LPR9X/ref=mp_s_a_1_1

It's actually £100 off on a limited offer at the moment!

Get yourself a pair of decent bookshelf speakers to go with it (I went for Edifier) and you are looking at a brilliant, Crystal clear set up for way less than the high-end equivalent.

That's my two cents anyway :)

I take it you don't know anything about old school players that you wind up as well? My husband asked for one for Christmas and I'm absolutely 100% certain I'm going to mix up record and record player types.

Oh god my five year also wanted this! I explained that Santa only brings presents that won't make children sad, and remote controlled planes break really easily or go out of range. Might be worth a try!

Here4the · 06/11/2026 15:00

@Gingerbreadseasoniscoming the blue plastic Thomas train is brilliant and so robust. You can build some really extensive track. Lego also do a motorised one that I've eyed up but not tried.

Re advent calendars, if anyone is making their own Sainsburys has good offers on the Cape spices which would be great in one. All their flavours are amazing.

Would love to buy for DH but wish it wasn't £40 😬

I got it when Jam doughnut had a 5% cash back on a gift voucher deal so not much of a saving but we were buying a gift in Selfridges anyway so the gift was £70 plus the £40 for the calendar was £6.50 cash back hence my justification.

Nothing will ever beat the year of the sock advent calendars!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 06/11/2026 15:07

Oooh I remember the socks! Both DH and I got one, forgetting we get heaps for Christmas and had a serious sock storage issue for some time after 😁
