Hi all. I'm just caretaking until Reastie returns, but here's our new thread. Please do use up the old one first though.

This is intended as a friendly, kind, safe, warm and fuzzy place for people to share discounts, bargains and Christmas gift ideas both online and IRL. Please note the tone and intention of the thread and join with spirit as generous as DC helping themselves to the Christmas chocolate celebrations

Here’s some useful information about how to save the thread or a specific post so you don’t need to have a message to check in for every thread so you have the thread saved:

To watch the thread - click on the little bell that has ‘watch’ under my first message. This adds the whole thread to your ‘watched threads’

You can also bookmark a specific post by clicking on the ‘bookmark’ under the specific post. This saves your exact place in a thread but doesn’t alert you to new replies.

Looking to get my sister a matcha set if anyone has seen any good deals

I like bird and blend but it can be a bit expensive

Londonbabyland · 05/11/2026 16:33

Was wondering what are the items people here really want for themselves and are waiting for them to get discounted to bargain level? Having bought a few items suggested in the thread for others I kept them for myself :) (heated blanket and robot vac) so I'll setup alerts for the desirables too.

I'm looking a for a kindle and some weights on stand (probably 2,3,5kg) 😊

Thanks to whoever posted about Disney, had my eye on a few bits dd would love for months but couldn’t bring myself to pay those prices. I obviously added a few bits on that I didn’t intend to get so I think I spent more money in the end anyway but she’ll be so excited
it’s 15% off today still for anyone who missed 20% and 10% tomorrow. Worth noting because I hadn’t realised, that you can get 10% student discount any time, if you are or know any students.
I think I’m almost finished the dc now thanks to these threads.

Londonbabyland · 05/11/2026 16:59

@caffeineanddryshampoo in case it matters, with Kobo e-reader you can read/listen books free with library accounts (Libby and Borrowbox) - saved a fortune on ebooks and audio books this year...
Kindle only works with library books in the US .

hugsandpugs · 05/11/2026 17:06

Just seen on Billie Rae gift shop social media that she now has added the Christmas themed blind date with a book so ideal if your planning to purchase for a Xmas pressie!

I seen someone upthread was asking about free delivery - there was an offer on for that which auto added at checkout but by the looks of it it’s ended now! X

Does anyone have a recommendation for a kids magic set? I think my 7 year old would love one but it’s not my area of expertise and there are so many choices!

The only thing on his Christmas list so far is Minecoins 🙄 which isn’t going to make a very exciting Christmas morning!

You can get a really cool puzzle box for giftcards / cash if thats how you are giving the minecoins, I got one for about £5 from amazon. You lock the card / cash inside and they have to solve the puzzle open it.

Wow, my last Paperwhite cost £99 without ads. I’ve just looked and they’re around £100 more now! When mine dies I won’t be replacing it. They’re convenient but it it’s too expensive - and most of the books I want are cheaper in paperback.

Still no update from give me cosmetics about my order placed on 10th October so I’ve put a claim through with my bank to claim a refund. Dissapointed & won’t be using them again 🫣

I ordered on 10th October- had the dispatch email last night

Any train experts on here? My five year old is train mad. We have so much brio. But he now wants Hornby type trains and it's so expensive. I don't really want to just get a basic oval as it's not very imaginative - any ideas for bargains or similar brands that aren't total shite to put together?!
He wants Santa to bring it and was sad earlier as he "only loves trains" 😢

received mine, probably about a month ago. think they took a couple of weeks to come. of course when they did get to me I realised DD can’t have marshmallows because of her braces - but that’s on me 🤦‍♀️
on an entirely different point, I’d quite like a walking pad, but know nothing about them. does anyone have any recommendations? thanks

I bought this walking pad a couple of weeks ago on sale: https://uk.deerruntreadmill.com/products/walking-pad-q2-urban
It’s now further reduced for Black Friday. It’s been a decent starter pad, easy to set up and store and seems to be doing the job so far.

DeerRun Q2 Urban Under Desk Walking Pad with 7% Incline & Remote Control

Stay active while working with the DeerRun Q2 Urban walking pad. Compact, portable and featuring a 7% incline, ideal for home offices and under-desk use

This annoys me so much. How can a digital download cost the same or more than books that have to be printed, bound, shipped, stored, etc? Madness.

My Needoh has arrived! Thank you so much to the poster who mentioned that they were back in stock!

So did mine. Now I’m looking for a different one for the other DD.

I haven't been on these threads this year so apologies if this has come up. I'm being chased through Facebook by some colour-in jigsaws - I must have clicked on an ad at some point.

I think the ads I'm seeing are dodgy - they claim to be £19.99 down from £70, but I think they've only ever been £19.99 and not advertised as a sale price before.

The question is really do they even exist in a non-scammy form? I hate Facebook ads.

They look like this... has anyone seen them in the wild?

I made a request on thread 1 or 2 and got the perfect solution within about 3 posts so I’m here again looking for help.

DH wants a record player. He listens to music all the time and never asks for anything so I’m going to get him one. But I don’t want one of those big side board deals I remember from the 80’s and speakers that’ll annoy the neighbours. i know nothing about record players because I wasn’t allowed to touch the one we had because it cost more than the car or something.

any suggestions? I don’t want to spend 10k but I don’t want that won’t work either. I guess I better find out where you buy records as well.

thanks everyone. I read this thread everyday and have spent a fortune, keep up the good work.

@Bluescissorsbluepen i am sure I remember people buying record players from Urban Outfitters from previous years on these threads. I had a quick google and they all seem to be on sale at the moment

Can I please ask you how heavy it is? As in would it be ok on first floor and is it hard to manhandle around? Thanks

sparklymistletoe · 05/11/2026 19:18

If anyone sees a Jellycat seal while looking online, please let me know! There are loads on eBay and vinted but apparently fakes are everywhere which I don’t want to risk.

I have a train mad son. He has just turned 10 and has had hornby for a few years but I would say he's probably only been old enough for it for the last year or so. Its much more delicate than usual train toys and some of his trains have been damaged from rough handling. You need quite a lot of money, space and imagination to do a decent track layout. I've been helping DS and we dont have anything much more complicated than an oval.

If he's set on hornby I would look at second hand. There are some independent model stores around that refurbish second hand trains that would be able to help you with set up.

TBH I would look at something a bit simpler for a 5 year old. The Lionel polar Express and hogwarts express are reduced on amazon at the moment and looks more grown up than brio but would be more robust than hornby for young hands.

For a model shop, antics are good but I think mostly SW based.

Hi im looking at getting an oura 5 ring, rrp £399. Ive never had one before but have read they dont really do any great offers for new releases.
Ive got an 8% cashback offer through my bank. Ends tomorrow.
Is there likely to be any other offers? Does anyone know what offers they had last year. Tia x

@RosesandcrysanthamumsThank you, I’ll have a look at bushcraft shops 😊
@ChocolateteabagThank you, that is indeed lovely, have you used that shop before?

@Bryna - i’ve not bought from this particular leathercraft shop - but they are UK based and I’ve seen them at a couple of shows
I think you are either going to get a real leather crafted one for that price or a fake leather one from a reenactment or role-play (LARP) shop
