Female mid 50s. No hobbies, tons of money so buys what she likes. Lives a sedentary life so watches tv, eats out, goes to pub. No interest in house or garden. Likes wine and food but doesn’t cook, gets hair, nails and make up done professionally regularly. Doesn’t want any toiletries/beauty things as has so much. Doesn’t read or go out for walks. doesn’t do real life shopping but buys tons of tat online. My budget is only £30 so not in the range of buying a weekend away or anything which would go down well. Can’t buy clothes as wouldn’t want to guess her size (sensitive issue) and only wears real Ugg slippers. I have exhausted every idea I have had and ones from here in the past so any ideas would be very much appreciated!! I can’t not get her anything as it would cause so much drama and upset in an otherwise very happy family. Got her a heated blanket last year for her life on the sofa but she wasn’t impressed. Am stumped! She is a good person but lives a very different life from me! Heeeeeeeelllllllllppp please!

Voucher for Amazon or wherever she eats out.

Or if she doesn’t cook but likes food a basket of nice Christmas bits .

Or have basket of fruit delivered from m and s or some Christmas flowers.

could get fluffy socks and hot choc to go with s voucher.

Photo book. Of stuff you have dont together family events etc.

A pretty note book where people write their favourite memories about her in.

Cashmere socks. Or merino wool socks

First poster nails it. Nice candle.

Wearable blanket for wearing on the sofa - the Oodie-type ones. There are so many brands of these now as everywhere is doing them.

Restaurant voucher for her favourite place.

Voucher for Space NK or similar place for make up.

Take her out for lunch

Sounds a bloody depressing and lonely and all around a bit crap life

An afternoon tea from Piglet Pantry, chocolates from Lily O’Brien or something from the Cornish Company such as The Pasty & Cream Tea Hamper.

Could you make her a traditional Xmas cake...James Martin has a nice recipe online and you've time for it to mature nicely. It's something she could enjoy eating and serving her guests. You can buy edible toppers online so you would only have to cover it with the ready rolled marzipan and icing. Personally,I would love someone to make me one as a gift...

I think I’d buy some cashmere socks from the white company .

Neveranynamesleft · Yesterday 19:39

Give her a reality check. Sounds like she really doesn't need anything so tell her you'll be making a donation to charity this year on her behalf.

EmbracingUncertainty · Yesterday 19:39

I think in situations where the person clearly doesn’t really appreciate anything meaningful and just buys themselves tat, you’re better off just buying them a token nice thing from an independent shop or maker and then you know that at least the person you’ve bought it from has appreciated your custom and your money has gone somewhere worthwhile, and if the recipient happens to like it then that’s a bonus

Bottle of wine?
Flowers?
Photo frame!?

luckylavender · Yesterday 19:40

Why can’t people read the OP? A Jo Malone candle is out of budget. Last year OP bought a heated throw and it wasn’t well received.

Calypsocuckoo · Yesterday 19:41

Candle or reed diffuser, you could try and get a nice brand like Neom from TK maxx, some of the fancy chocs from hotel chocolat or marks and Spencer’s, what about home decor like a Christmas cushion or ornament, or an Emma Bridgewater or le crueset mug?

I was just about to suggest that. Or something from Turtle Doves recycled cashmere. They do fabulous fingerless gloves, leg warmers, wrist warmers etc. in budget.

Voucher for Cook. They are frozen ready meals, made with proper ingredients and taste absolutely fantastic. For a foodie who doesn't cook these are a great option.

Ugg branded insoles - great for her other shoes / boots. They also do things like socks or gloves:https://www.ugg.com/uk/outlet - keep an eye out on the sales, and places like M&M Direct for bargains.

Look on the Michelin guide for a recommended place in her area and get her a voucher for there? Lunch menus are often a lot cheaper. I recently paid less than £30 for a glorious lunch and a drink at a pub that's on their list.

WhiskyandWater · Yesterday 19:46

I’d try and find a niche brand on offer - slightly over budget but Victoria Cator has a candle half price at £35 (not sure what postage is) or some nice snacks from Fortnums or similar. Alternatively a bottle of champagne from M and S is £25, add in some nice nuts and done.

-a mini hamper of crackers, chutney, chocs and/or nice jams
-photo frame
-box of glace marrons
-Take her out to lunch
-£30 in a christmas card 😕

Has she done much travelling? I am in love with these tiny flag charms showing the countries of the world. You can buy ones for her favorite countries or US states. You can attach them to a keyring, handbag or bracelet. They’re a tenner each for the silver coloured ones but have a bogof at the moment so you could get six. (Buy a cheap keyring somewhere else) .
NB They are very small, smaller than in the illustrations on the website.

Ugg socks & some nice chocs? More of a token gift & sounds like it may not be appreciated but guess you have to buy for this person.
