What can't you resist at Christmas?

For me it's:

Glass Snow Globes

Wrapping Paper (my stash of gift wrap could last for 4 years already!)

Christmas Party dresses

My daughters and I each choose a new decoration for the tree.
I buy Shloer and J2Os, we never have it at any other time of year.
I get lots of Toffifee as these remind me of being a kid.
Oh and also wensleydale with cranberries for just me!

Betterbeingdead · 17/09/2026 21:17

For all you lobster crisps fans, can anyone tell me are they similar to prawn cocktail flavour? In which case I'm not too fussed! But if not, I'm intrigued!

They are. Theyโ€™re basically very prawn cocktaily prawn cocktail crisps. And very crunchy.

SmellyNelliey · 17/09/2026 21:20

We go to bents garden center around Christmas every year! My mum buys the grandchildren a decoration for the tree each of there choice! Ive 5 children and lots of different decorations but we love going...this year I want a new tree from Bents!

After Eights

How luxurious I thought they were as a child, and now they are synonymous with Christmas for me.

I could live on after eights .

You drink it? No, no, no. Itโ€™s for pouring over ice-cream, over trifle, into mince pies, over cake (any sort), over pudding (any sort)!

๐Ÿ˜† I think they are talking about Advocate not actual custard ๐Ÿ˜†

HorseandHeron · 17/09/2026 21:24

Lindt reindeer and Lindor truffle balls. Stilton from a real cheese shop. ยฃยฃยฃ but it does taste better than supermarket plastic wrapped. Once a year.

DH can't resist buying Christmas crackers. I think they are a horrible waste of money and landfill but he just comes back with a packet every year beaming that he got a vast box of toilet roll inner tubes wrapped in paper with a scrappy gift in no one wants in them, for ยฃ7.99 not the listed price of ยฃ15.99.

Ecclefechan tarts and the Aldi stollen.

This confuses me so much. Iโ€™d like to try it but canโ€™t have coffee after 12pm and theyโ€™re after dinner mints.

I keep mine in the fridge and i like to sandwich 2 or 3 together.
Everyone in my house loves them but war breaks out when what appears to be a relatively full box is just empty wrappers !

NotMyRealAccount · 17/09/2026 21:35

Pigs in blankets flavour crisps and novelty varieties of Christmas puddings. And I usually find something I like among the Christmas-themed activewear.

Bananacrepewithnuts · 17/09/2026 21:35

A real tree that's inappropriately large for the space.

I can't resist when I'm tree shopping. I look at some and think that's looks tiny so I go bigger and get it home and unleash it and....oh no...done it again!

Also guilty of leaving said wrapper in the box.

Ted27 · 17/09/2026 21:39

Jaffa cake selection box
Cheese balls
Matchmakers

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 17/09/2026 21:43

Me-Bendicks bittermints. I could mainline them, but they are strictly rationed. I have one left from.a box of two from last year.
Dh- crackers for cheese. Now limited to one of the Carrs boxes, but if not monitored he will buy a box each shop from October to Christmas eve.

TabbieMctatty · 17/09/2026 21:53

Baileys
Whipped cream for hot chocolates
Tofifee
Those tubs of twiglets
Tin of chocs

Never buy or eat any of these at any other time!

A fancy candle for the sitting room - usually white company. Something really Christmassy.

And my 3 kids choose a new Xmas bauble each every Christmas from our local garden centre.

Confusedmeanderings · 17/09/2026 22:03

Chocolate log. I don't actually eat that much cake. DH doesn't eat it. I have a couple of slices and really enjoy it and then don't get around to eating the rest - possibly because Im busy stuffing my face with Roses and Quality Street.

SunnieShine · 17/09/2026 22:07

Treeslet cheeselets.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 17/09/2026 22:11

After Eight fans, saw a TikTok earlier when she put a couple of them on hot toast! Not a Nutella fan but I actually did think โ€˜that sounds quite goodโ€™
White company winter candle for me. Stupid price really but nothing else ever hits quite right.

PennyPugwash · 17/09/2026 22:12

Many, many bags of coffee quality street from John Lewis.
Lots of cheese and chutney combos
Baileys for my hot chocolates
A good bottle of champagne to open when we decorate the tree.
