Come and join me if you're starting to wonder when the food slots will go live. 👀

Last year the slots were released on Tuesday 23rd September, so they should be coming soon ...

I'm also here for any M&S Xmas food chat. The chocolate pine cones made me very happy last year. 🌲

Ahhhh, thank you!

They did used to do it as part of the pre-order range. I might pick a brochure up (or send my dad on a mission as they live about 400m from M&S!). Xmas Grin

Oh the brochure is fabulous! If you’re on Instagram, UKnewestfoods did a post showing all pages, you just need to zoom in. Nothing better than having a copy in hand though 🤣

It won't be as good as the Booths book, but I'm willing to give it a whirl! I'm going to email dad now to ask him to pop out. 🤣

Anyone spot the lambchetta? I am intrigued and consider putting it in my order, along with the porchetta. It’s to make sandwiches with!

I’m not cooking a roast on Christmas day- we’re off to the local family pub with extended family & then home for a fancy buffet. I’m doing my traditional dinner the week before the big day.

I really like the look of the passionfruit & white chocolate yule log, the sticky toffee trifle & the mini snowmen. I will likely get all 3 for my buffet 🙈

The brie encroute also looks excellent, and i’m impressed with the party food. Chicken Kyiv vol au vants anyone?

I was tempted with that but we’re going to the in-laws Christmas Day. I can’t see us eating all that meat on our own sadly.

I wish I could consider other meats for Xmas day but beef would be a faff getting it perfectly cooked (and I'll be quite squiffy at that stage). At least one person in the family doesn't like venison or lamb, and pork doesn't feel special enough. So a big stupid turkey it is. 😄

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2026 14:23

I don't think that turkey is amazingly special though in reality. I'm an idiot and do beef, lamb and pork. I got meat temperature sensors last year, so it's much easier to get the beef right than by timings alone (it takes nowhere near as long as they say!). It's even squiffy-cook-proof. Xmas Grin

I agree. I think the only reason I consider it to be a bit more special is because we only have it once a year. It's only my second year hosting Xmas so I might give another meat a go next year (as I've got a temp probe somewhere). The other reason I don't do beef is that my BIL is the self proclaimed king of roast beef cooking and I can't be bothered to compete. 😁

I love turkey, just sayin’. Can’t wait for the Christmas dinner in the Harvester. Yes, I am that sad 🦃

This is the one we have and it's great! https://amzn.eu/d/07EVETGO

I'd probs avoid it with a BiL like that though.

Thanks for the reminder everyone. Just added some beef and the vanilla pannacotta to secure my slot.

Last year I was so so unwell on Xmas Day. I cooked the whole dinner and didn't eat any of it 😭

I did, however, manage to eat a slice of the panna cotta and it was glorious. I was very excited to see if for this year and fingers crossed I'll be eating it round the table with a glass of prosecco!

Still plenty slots for us but really am swithering. We normally do 23rd but a Wednesday isn't ideal so thinking 22nd but wondering if it's too early. The date will obviously be the same won't it?

Yep - it says that regardless of the slot the food will stay fresh until Boxing Day.

I've just had a look and there are still spots available for Xmas Eve from 7am until 1:30pm at my store. Why the hell did I get up at the crack of dawn on Tuesday? I assumed it would be like Glastonbury. Lesson learnt for next year! 🙃

Ah thanks. I missed reading that somehow!

Lighthouse91 · 27/09/2026 12:46

Does anyone know what the use by date is like on the best ever yule log (which I believe has fresh cream).I don't want to buy it then it is out of date 2-3 days later.

I thought all Xmas desserts had a use by date of Boxing Day

I bought a carton of Big Mix. SO many are caramel/toffee based which is fine for me but not DD. I don’t love them but I suppose the comparison is Quality Street or Roses whereas we always go Celebrations/Heroes

I am tempted by the Big mix...except that vile salted caramel is in there as well 😬

ScaramoucheCanYouDoTheFandango · 30/09/2026 22:50

Forgot it was M&S Christmas food shopping so just went on and still lots of slots left at local store, got a Christmas Eve morning slot no problem. Ordered usual beef, Dauphinoise potatoes, pine cones, Yule log.

We have a curry on Christmas Day as ds is usually working and an extended family meal on Boxing Day.

I see everyone talking about the big mix, sounds good, but how many hard caramel are there in it, my old fillings don’t tend to cope well with then and don’t fancy a dentist trip over Christmas.

Thanks for the reminder

£50 deposit required 😩😩, will have to wait til payday at the end of October!

For those ordering the chocolate pine cones, order an extra lot (bit expensive, I know), take them out in their individual plastic collars and put in sellotaped food bags and drop in the freezer. They not only freeze perfectly (and thaw quickly) but they fill odd little corners in the freezer and the odd one that falls to the bottom is a lovely treat on a rainy Feb day.

You're welcome!

I have just added an extra box as they have been dd fav for many years. I don't think I have actually had one, maybe just when she left a scrapping I got a taste!

When you mentioned sellotape is that just to secure the sandwich bag? And I need to remove the individual plastic casing before freezing? Thanks
