Come and join me if you're starting to wonder when the food slots will go live. 👀

Last year the slots were released on Tuesday 23rd September, so they should be coming soon ...

I'm also here for any M&S Xmas food chat. The chocolate pine cones made me very happy last year. 🌲

I was going to get the pine cones but hadn’t realised they aren’t vegetarian - although the website labels them as vegetarian despite the ingredients listing pork gelatine! So have gone for the Yule log.

AuntieDen · 22/09/2026 11:51

thanks for the thread, just speed added a few bits to get my slot and will go back this evening to have a proper browse! Given I don't actually know where or for how many I will be catering this year yet I will need to hit a middle ground and get things we will be happy to binge ourselves if its just us 😁

BerfyTigot · 22/09/2026 13:48

Thanks for the reminder everyone. Just added some beef and the vanilla pannacotta to secure my slot.

Friedbanana · 22/09/2026 18:27

I was so excited for first year ordering from M&S as it’s just me, my partner and our newborn baby this year! We normally have Christmas just us 2 and spend hours making the feast because we enjoy it so much, however thought we’d appreciate ease this year. However there’s not many options for mains serving 2 so it just feels very expensive for just us! Has anyone got any recommendations for alternatives that aren’t so pricey?

I’ve just been on and really confused. So this is a special xmas ordering service, and you can’t add in normal things like a bag of carrots or pack of crumpets?

No, this is just ordering those bits which are important to you for dinner. It's not like online supermarket shopping as a) M&S don't do that and b) it's all reserved for you on ordering, so (barring disaster) you know you're getting it (which isn't true for online grocery shopping). If you want carrots and crumpets, you can pick them up when you collect your order!

Yes it’s just for the special Xmas foods. It’s part of the food to order service which during the rest of the year is for catering (sandwich platters etc), rather than normal groceries. Sainsbury’s also have a (Christmas) food to order service separate to normal deliveries, other supermarkets might as well.

itstoolateforsnacks · 22/09/2026 19:27

Thank you both! We are veggie so it’s not that exciting it turns out…

Yeah, the Sainsbury's veggie offering is uninspiring at best!

Just got the email that Christmas ordering is open! No sign of the catalogue thingy in the shop today

Look at Cook, I’ve not used them for Christmas Dinner, but do use them throughout the year. They do meals for 2.

ChristmasLightsLover · 22/09/2026 23:20

I’ve got my slot! Along with the pine cones and Yule log, I have gone for parsnips
and red cabbage. Cauliflower cheese will be from the regular shop and that will be bought ahead and frozen as it’s too important to risk it being unavailable on the 23rd.

Our thread critiquing the puddings was a joy last year so I am in for that regardless of whatever the rest of my family do or don’t want to have!

I would just spread as it over various meals / days!

Does anyone know when the Christmas stuff comes out in store , particularly the best ever log and pine cones? I went to order online but the only pick ups available are 23rd & 24th. I was hoping to get them a bit earlier as I'm working right up and our nearest store is 40 minutes away. I was hoping to go the Sunday but maybe they would be out of date for Christmas day by then..

It’s the 19th of December for both the pine cones and the Yule log. The dates are all in the catalogue.

bigkey2020 · 23/09/2026 07:27

Brilliant Kimberly, thanks. I'll maybe take the risk, here's hoping 🤞

The pine cones are fine a few days past their best before date.

Not tried the yule log but might do this year!

bigkey2020 · 23/09/2026 08:08

Thanks Sunshine. I would highly recommend the Yule log , they are dreamy 😋

bugalugs45 · 23/09/2026 14:28

Well I’ve just gone on to book my Waitrose slot ( I know this an M&S thread ) but the price is now £7 a slot …. Was £4 last year 😳

Added to my order, may need to remove the little snowmen but they look so cute! There is only 3 of us!!!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 23/09/2026 22:21

Just got ours sorted! Thanks.

i’m not too bothered about anything else, I can pick up presents much closer to the time but getting this bit booked eases so much stress on the day!

VillageFete · 23/09/2026 23:12

Anyone spot the lambchetta? I am intrigued and consider putting it in my order, along with the porchetta. It’s to make sandwiches with!

I’m not cooking a roast on Christmas day- we’re off to the local family pub with extended family & then home for a fancy buffet. I’m doing my traditional dinner the week before the big day.

I really like the look of the passionfruit & white chocolate yule log, the sticky toffee trifle & the mini snowmen. I will likely get all 3 for my buffet 🙈

The brie encroute also looks excellent, and i’m impressed with the party food. Chicken Kyiv vol au vants anyone?

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2026 07:53

@VillageFete, what party food? I can't see any in the Christmas food to order. Is that in their usual food to order range?

Just in the brochure, you can’t pre order. Looks like most of it’s in store from 11th November. Decent range this year.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2026 08:21

Ahhhh, thank you!

They did used to do it as part of the pre-order range. I might pick a brochure up (or send my dad on a mission as they live about 400m from M&S!). Xmas Grin
