I’ve just had my first mince pie of the season

As the title says - I’ve just had my first mince pie of the season!

Has anyone else indulged yet? I had a Lidl Deluxe, very tasty. Will limit my household (DH and me) to one box in Sept and one in Oct so not to be sick of them come actual Christmas time.

Ha, I was going to write ‘first mince pie of the year’ in the title, but then I realised it wouldn’t be true because I was still eating Xmas 2025 ones until March of this year 😂

How did you make them last so long?

I've still got an Easter Egg in my fridge! 😲

Ha, I hoover up all the bargains after Xmas lol, and then I eek them out so I can enjoy them for as long as possible. March was the latest date I could find on the mince pies, although I did have a pannetone that didn’t have Best Before until September 2026.

@SaraHoliday you’ve beat me on Easter eggs, I had our last one in August.

I haven't checked but I'd assume that the dates on things like mince pies, fruit cake, pannetone etc are all best before, not use by, so I'd ignore them, to be honest. Not that we have anything like that hanging around much beyond the end of January ... :)

Nothing beats a mince pie with your pumpkin spice latte.
