What did you get for Christmas?

For those of us lucky enough to receive presents, did you get anything nice? We all rally around our kids as we should, but what about you.
I got 5 new books, 2 charms for my bracelet, a travel coffee mug, and a switch game I’ve been wanting for a while - yes I’m one of those 30 somethings who enjoys playing 😀what did you get?

A fabulous, enormous, cast iron pig feeder.
A very old Millstone.
A cast iron Victorian bootscraper in a Yorkshire stone block.
A York Ghost.
And some smelly candles for a bit of normality.
Very happy 😊

My young adult kids got me such thoughtful things, I was so touched

Skint student DD got me three books from charity shops - a crime novel, a romance ('to cheer you up because you hate winter') and Eats, Shoots And Leaves ('because you're the grammar police' - very true)

DS1 bought me reachable hand warmers because I'm always so cold walking home after swimming twice a week

DS2 bought me a beautiful clothbound edition of Stig Of The Dump because my reading it to them at bedtime when they were little is one of his favourite memories, he said. I practically cried at that point.

I got some Chelsea Peers pj's, an Estee lauder bumper set with the various day and night creams and some make up, a book chosen by my dd (something dystopian) and a five year diary. No surprises, but all things I wanted. Plus my mum gave me some money in a card, when she normally only gives to the kids, so I'll have to have a think about what to get myself.

My absolute favourite gift was an Airbnb gift card from my brother. It wasn’t a huge amount, but the message inside was lovely and it made me feel really seen.

From DH I got a lovely pair of pjs which I asked for and a bottle of my favourite perfume.

Feel very spoilt this year

It’s very unusual and would be outing if anyone saw it. But it is gorgeous, bands with baguette cut emeralds on them, 2 circular diamonds and then some tiny little diamonds on some of the bands. I’m really thrilled with it.

I got Lego botanicals from DH and both adult kids. All bought separately and no duplicates! I was so happy as they are my absolute favourite Lego series.

DD also bought me a mug that I’ve been after for ages and DS got me capybara plushies for my ever growing collection, and a box of crème eggs which is tradition as he works in a supermarket and the Easter eggs come in on 23rd December deliveries.

DH also got me the giant Lego Santa and a castle display for my princess bitty pops. I got Amazon vouchers from PIL and SIL so I can buy myself more Lego 😁. I was thoroughly spoilt and had a brilliant day.

It has silicone ‘wounds’ on a sheet for you to practice on again and again 🤣

What lovely thoughtful children you have.

Dh got me an advent calendar for December so didn’t think that I would want anything yesterday.

Dd gave me a photo of dgc which was really lovely.

Both (adult) DS forgot.

My parents and siblings don’t send gifts (I do because I love the choosing and sending gifts).

I think I must have been naughty this year.

Dh got me one of the limited edition Jo Malone perfumes that I’d never have chosen but is lovely and a candle, some bits from space NK, cuddlr trousers for warming up post coldwater swimming, some new Pilates clothes and grip socks, some comfy joggers, a really pretty bracelet and a box of Lush things then told me he’d booked a couple of nights away for us in January and things to do are organised. So very lovely, he chose everything himself (usually asks dds for some input but he didn’t this year) and he made really thoughtful choices based on my hobbies and what he knows I like to buy for myself.
Dc got me some perfume, some cashmere thermals from Uniqlo, the socks are really good but the base layers are fab, some skincare, lipbalms and an assortment of books, again really thoughtful and kind.

It’s an awful lot written down (and in reality) but will all be put to good use, I tried the trousers out this morning and they are incredibly cosy and I’m going to Pilates tomorrow morning so will get wear out of the new clothes. Going to have a bath in a minute and then may give myself a facial with all my new skincare bits. Everyone has gone out and I’m totally home alone for the first time in a week so it’s the perfect opportunity for a bit of me time!

I requested no jewellery from DH this year as I’ve enough at this stage of my life and happy with my collection and just wanted smaller, useful gifts. Ditto bags and scarves.

So I’m very happy with what I’ve received.

From DH:

A Disney cruise for me and the kids.

Technically I booked and paid for it today so not really an xmas gift but "D"h has been a dick over xmas and inlaws turned up uninvited and caused chaos and ruined the day.

I have a ticket for "D"h but he has a lot of making up to do before I give it to him.

I got a full body bath pillow, I’ll use that tomorrow. I’m too bony in the wrong places to find baths comfortable but the heat helps my various physical health issues. I’m very hopeful for a comfortable bath for the first time in a very long time!

A padlock with my dogs name. I lost DDog in October and he’s going to start a padlock fence on a little bridge we have over a little burn and encourage others to do the same for their lost pets. For me that’s a lovely thought, a bit like a Rainbow Bridge.

Trainers and perfume from DH plus a couple of other bits. Lovely gifts from DM and MIL too. I never buy myself perfume I just ask for it for Christmas so my stock is well replenished now!

Favourite present was from DD1, she picked up a mini designer lipstick that i’ve wanted to try for a while but just haven’t bought for myself. She’s almost 15 and obviously doesn’t have a huge amount of money to spend so I was very touched that she remembered and chose to spend her pocket money on me. I was thrilled.

I was really touched with his efforts because he thought about what I liked and what might be useful and then other more indulgent alongside the practical things.
We don’t ask for things from each other - some years have had more misses than hits but we always have a laugh when one of us has chosen something inadvertently terrible 😂
