Who else can't sleep?

I'm just too excited/anxious. Did I buy enough? Will the kids love their gifts? Thoughts of Christmas dinner and giving dh his gifts are swirling round my head.

I love giving gifts. I love awkward video chats with family. I love the chaos. I love the food. I love love love Christmas. I just wish I could sleep.

Also awake. Hope those who are ill feel better soon. I was asleep before ten but am now wide awake. Someone crashed into my car about a month ago and my rib still hurts and when I roll onto that side in my sleep it wakes me. And we had a family bereavement earlier this month as FIL died so thinking about him etc. Condolences to others who are mourning recent losses this year and especially to @Knittedanimal. A hard Christmas this year for you and your DH and DDs.

I'm up as it's so stormy here (South coast, literally 2 minutes walk from the beach), the wind is howling and there are unidentifiable noises from the back garden. I'm wondering whether the fence has come down!

@HoorayHattie I am in Poole, my washing line blew over, it’s blowing an absolute hooley out there and it’s cold !

I’m awake but on night shift as I’m a nurse, hoping to get a little 1 hour nap in though!

Me! My daughter has epilepsy and I’m so desperate for her not to have a seizure tonight I’m lying in her bed with her watching her every move.

I'm in Southsea and it's the same . . . I've opened the back door to see if I can discover what's causing the noise but can't see anything! Have made a cup of tea, put the TV on but without sound as I don't want to disturb the neighbours!
This wasn't how I planned for Christmas Day morning . . . I was hoping for a lie-in!!!!!

I just woke up about 3.30 and can’t get back to sleep. Scared to go for a wee in case I wake DD7 and she realises he’s been, as no way I want to actually get up at this time, but probably can’t go back to sleep if I don’t have a wee…. So I’m just lying here thinking about wees and listening to my husband and dog snoring

Wide awake here as toddler is having a terrible night and refusing to stay asleep (it's not Christmas excitement- isn't old enough to understand!)

My eldest two coming in from a party woke me at half two. Fell asleep again and woke at 3.45. Now on the couch with a cup of tea and can hear my 13yo, who fell asleep at 8pm, moving around above me 🙈

@HoorayHattie nearby then ! I’m sure your TV won’t wake your neighbours ? I find watching TV with a throw over me makes me sleepy, that may work for you, hoping you get some more kip !

I'm in a two up, two down with very thin walls! I can hear my neighbours so, no doubt, they can hear me! The storm is still raging here . . . I'm longing for daylight so I can investigate where the strange noises are coming from

I love your idea of watching TV wrapped in a throw . . . have got a cosy fleece blanket so will try that

I barely slept and now awake waiting for 6 when they’re allowed up! Can hear one child vaguely stirring but DC2 struggles without a full night hence the 6am rule! Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Me! I woke up at 4 thinking it was around 7, and just can't nod off again now as I know the moment I do, the children will wake up. I think an afternoon power nap will be on the menu today

Currently 'sleeping' on the sofa. DS3 has a bad cough/cold and DD4weeks has started coughing and is shuffling. So we are downstairs not to wake DS up. Father Christmas has been so going to need to sneak back up before he wakes up. It's been a long night and it's going to be a long day tomorrow at this rate.

Still awake and not sure why. Mind spinning, keep posting random comments all over the internet. Tomorrow is going to be…interesting. Decided not to worry about it. Quite a wind getting up outside.

Managed about 4 hours in total. Ffs it's going to be a long day.

Got to sleep 11.30 ish. Awake since 5. Have done the scene setting and am now having a decaf tea. DH is snoring. DS2 is awake but texted me so I’ve said he can’t get up yet. Have given him the dog to cuddle and a hug and I hope we’ll get a bit more sleep ! Hugs to all those who need them

@HoorayHattie treat yourself to a set of headphones then you can watch TV at anytime.

Phew we've done the presents already. I eventually got to sleep around half 3. I had a little Christmas cry after the kids opened everything because they loved everything.

@Llamallamafruitpyjama I’m very lucky I know, they’ve always loved Christmas and I’m a Christmas nut, made me laugh this year as they put the biscuits and JD out for “Santa” hopefully they’ll carry that wee bit of youthful joy with them to their own families someday. Enjoy every moment with your little ones.

I just remembered this thread! My baby was actually born on Christmas Day afternoon. I had no idea when I wrote this post that I was in early labour.

@NotQuiteUsual hope you've been able to catch up on some sleep by now. Christmas always takes me a week to recover from, then it's NY!
