Who else can't sleep?

I'm just too excited/anxious. Did I buy enough? Will the kids love their gifts? Thoughts of Christmas dinner and giving dh his gifts are swirling round my head.

I love giving gifts. I love awkward video chats with family. I love the chaos. I love the food. I love love love Christmas. I just wish I could sleep.

Nights are so long when you can’t sleep. Tea and toast sounds good though.
My current routine is lay here thinking of all the things I could do (cooking tonight) until 4am ish when I then fall asleep and can’t then wake up when my 7 year old does (normally 7am but I guess much earlier this morning to sedd Ed if Santa had been!)

Still up. Waited for DS to come home and we’ve just had a giggly 45 mins of chat and I’ve popped his stocking on his bed and told him not to open it until the morning. I don’t think he will be up too early!!

Really had to stifle a laugh!

My DC woke when I was putting the stocking on their beds, I'm listening out now to see if they've gone back to sleep or schemeing on weather to sneak downstairs to see presents under the tree...
I'm bone tied now but wide awake.

I was getting DD’s presents out for wrapping and forgot to switch on my electric under blanket to warm the bed up. Now I need to wait - my bed is so cold ☹️

She'd been in hospital for 6 weeks and hardly eating after infection. Recovered/l9ng term treatment from lymphoma...couple of falls in the last year. I think she'd just had enough. I'm just sorry for my girls really as we are due to go to my DBs for the first time for chrimbo and they'd been looking forward to fun with cousins.

Thank you @NotQuiteUsual you are very kind. It's bleak lying here while my DH's heart is breaking and knowing the girls' christmas will be ruined too. This life business is so hard at times x

It really is. Life can be so unbearably hard. Not being able to do anything is it's own kind of torture too.

I'm sorry to hear that news.

My husband has managed to open the window and has now gone downstairs to sleep on the sofa so I can have a quiet and not boiling room. Very lovely of him. Going to try again to sleep.

My 3 year old woke as we were going to bed. She still is awake and I can’t stop coughing. I could actually cry 😭

My kids have been asleep for 5hrs and I’m still wide awake. I don’t sleep well anyway but would be nice to get some sleep before the kids wake up.

the cat destroyed a present that we spent ages setting up ready for the morning so DH had to rebuild it before coming up to bed but he’s been asleep for at least an hour.

I've given up on bed after 2/3 hours of not sleeping. Instead I'm playing on my virtual farm. It's really daft but this game brings me so much joy. When I had psychosis the only thing that could hold my attention was this game. It was the only thing bar diazepam that calmed me down. Now it's my go to when I'm struggling or can't sleep. It's funny how Christmas gets you sentimental about everything.

I can’t sleep either. Not sure if it’s the alcohol I had earlier.

Made myself hot milk with nutmeg as apparently this helps you sleep.

I'm awake because I'm waiting for the phone call to say that my first grandchild has been born. My son called from the hospital a few hours ago. I'm busy doing the washing up that I should have done earlier in the day. I need a distraction. It will be the ironing next.

I live alone, choose not to do Christmas and am trying to eat really healthily but right now I could easily consume a box of chocolates - or two - and there's absolutely nothing like that in the house!

I’m awake because I had my dog out to sleep yesterday with no warning signs before the appointment that was going to the outcome, kids are primary school age and very upset. I’m autistic so also very upset and trying to process.

I'm so sorry for your loss. This time of year can be hard enough with autism but to loose a beloved pet is awful.

I’m awake because me eldest DDs dog was barking, youngest DD(20) still up from the pub and eldest (26) not yet in. It’s going to be a late start Christmas Day!
