I got mine this morning with just some subs on the alcohol free Prosecco.

Ours is due this evening and we received an email earlier today to say the Turkey joint, gammon, stuffing balls, prawns, avocados, gravy, cheesecake and double cream were all ‘unavailable’!
Off to M&S we went, it was carnage but successful 🎉

ChubbyPuffling · 23/12/2025 17:39

Instead of a big bag of spuds for roasties and mash, they sent a small 2kg bag and 2 huge 2kg bags of frozen oven chips. Tesco...

We'll be eating (free - they refunded) chips for a month... was yesterday morning, already become a family joke. Hey ho... we will cope...

Kwamitiki · 23/12/2025 18:25

Morrisons this afternoon. Only brandy butter missing, so not to bad at all. Ended up popping out to get some in Waitrose, and it was crazy.

That’s really bad. Which supermarket?

We had a Tesco delivery this morning. Subs ok for chips (different brand) and bread (thick cut for medium). Sent back subbed flowers. Worst of all they subbed cheesecake for tarte au citron😭 cant believe there were no other cheesecakes in the entire store. No cheesecake at the local co-op either. Is there a national shortage?? Had Yule log for pudding tonight instead. Not sure if I can be arsed to go out cheesecake hunting tomorrow.

AgnesMcDoo · 23/12/2025 18:43

Mine came at lunchtime. A few brand substitutions but nothing that was an issue

Helpfullright · 23/12/2025 18:44

9am this morning, Tesco delivery, ZERO subs!! Christmas miracle

StrangewaysHereWeCome · 23/12/2025 18:45

Sainsburys just came. They subbed the medjool dates for organic ones, so all good there. On the other hand DH looked deeply concerned that the biscuits for cheese selection was subbed for 3 packets of cream crackers, and said he'd go out on his lunch break tomorrow. He knows I won't be going Grin.

SugarCookieMonster · 23/12/2025 18:55

Ocado order I booked in September and didn’t edit at all (through pure fear). All came except a pack of figs. I’m extremely relieved it’s all here but not sure how 3 months notice wasn’t enough to keep aside a pack of figs 😂

Chinsupmeloves · 23/12/2025 18:56

Went to click n collect yesterday rather than delivery because already being out i planned to go to a different supermarket for any unavailable items. Only one thing missing so popped into aldi on way back and got it. Yes, also ended up getting other things lol 😆

firstofallimadelight · 23/12/2025 18:56

Tesco delivery - substitutions-
chips (own brand for McCain)
mouthwash (for different brand )
Prosecco (got more expensive Prosecco)

All xmas veg, meats, desserts etc all fine so can’t complain.

Did Asda a couple years ago and had 16 substitutions including turkey, chestnuts and sprouts!!

SquigglePigs · 23/12/2025 19:10

We had a click and collect today. Honestly I was expecting it to be worse and had been assuming an early doors run to somewhere tomorrow to fix anything they screwed up.

We had a few subs but mostly sensible (e.g. one type of ham for a different one) but we did reject the offer of salami in place of the pork pie we'd ordered for a buffet on Boxing Day! Managed to replace it at the M&S garage on the way home so easy fix!

I wasn't brave enough to rely on them for the meat though so I've had a beef topside joint in the freezer for a couple of weeks!

Definitely here for the stories.....

The guy at the click and collect said my salami/pork pie one was pretty bad but his favourite is yesterday a lady ordered garlic and they were replaced with frozen prawns! She rejected them but I think I'd have taken them and popped them in the freezer given the price match - cheapest king prawns you're ever going to get!

Squirrelchops1 · 23/12/2025 19:12

MIL had Ocado, which she has weekly but was very disappointed. No dauphinoise (that I'd asked for for Christmas Eve), cheese she wanted not sent, no frangipani tart and a few other bits. She's not happy!

Lumirubin · 23/12/2025 19:13

Basically all the party food for the evenings buffet's missing

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 23/12/2025 19:17

Mine came at 9am, just missing bake at home croissants which is no big deal so I’m happy. All
meats pre ordered from the butcher though so that saved some worry.

Sminty2 · 23/12/2025 19:18

Had one substitution, bought a bottle of Baileys to make some fudge and they had run out, so sent Salted Caramel Baileys! Ugh. Sent it back.

Starlight40 · 23/12/2025 19:18

We had Tesco delivered yesterday at 9am and no subs. Normally we have at least 2 so I’m very impressed.

slothy81 · 23/12/2025 19:34

Asda.

Ordered beef from their festive range. The receipt said unavailable, yet it was delivered - whoohoo!!

no milk

no beef jerky

no gravy

walkers ready salted instead of pringles
colemans mint sauce instead of balsamic mint sauce
Asda rolls instead of scotch rolls
chicken goujons instead of gingerbread men chicken shapes
mcains waffles instead of hazelnut waffles
Asda cocktail sausages instead of exceptional range
Terrys Choclate orange caramel instead of popping candy
crumpets instead of gingerbread men shaped crumpets
8 paxo instead of 2 large paxo
2 pickled cabbage instead of large jar
Medium ketchup instead of large
Light squirty cream instead of full fat

so not too bad all in all. Better than last year when I had my cabbage substituted with ONE Brussel sprout and my cheese with orange juice.....

BobblyBobbleHat · 23/12/2025 19:54

Ours was great from Tesco this year, only 1 sub which was the simple 12 profiterole dessert for the Christmas 30 starry profiterole dessert. For just £3.50 we are very happy bunnies here!

😱

I admire the grace under pressure on this thread!

badjeans · 23/12/2025 22:42

Asda substituted the blinis for some weird mini toastie things?! Did not keep. Thyme and sage for the stuffing replaced with basil which will not work. One variety of chutney replaced with more of the same of another type we’d ordered - rejected that too. So it’ll be Waitrose at dawn as herbs needed before the stuffing can be made!

Most irritating is that they didn’t send the list of subs beforehand - we could have picked up all o that earlier today.

badjeans · 23/12/2025 22:42

Oh and red cabbage swapped for a peas and carrots medley. Not the same at all!

nannyl · 23/12/2025 22:43

I had ocado (who I use every week all year anyway)
all £200 there, undamaged and no substitutions
did a one off waitrose shop the week before and that was also exactly as ordered, delivered on time and into my kitchen etc

TheCountessAtChristmas · 23/12/2025 22:49

Tesco is expected here at 10am... I am waiting with baited breath!!! Can't believe some of the substitutions mentioned on here! Bonkers 😂

captivate · 23/12/2025 22:59

This year wasn't too bad compared to last year, when there were about 25 subs and it was all vital stuff. Very stressful.

This year they subbed fresh parsley for the rosemary even though I already was getting fresh parsley, and coriander for the thyme. That is such a first world problem but the small shop at the top of our road had fresh herbs so easily sorted.

And they didn't have wholegrain mustard so I had to fork out £3.89 for the Maille brand in the shop as opposed to sainsbury's 45p version. But sure it is Christmas.
