Anyone fancy joining in for a spot of Christmas Eve, yellow sticker Roulette

Christmas food shop done for our family of 5 including a ham, beef joint, two options for the Vegan eaters approx452 pigs in blankets and all the other trimmings however we have decided to play a bit of Christmas Eve, mid afternoon M&S roulette to see if we can pick up a bargain or two for over the festive period, including a possible main for myself and DH for Christmas Day.

No pressure as the fridge is full and there are other meat options but the element of a rouge/surprise option feels quite fun.

DH is going to try the one in an industrial park which is bigger but more accessible for cars where as DD18 and I are going to go for a Christmas cocktail and opt for the city centre store.

As Christmas Eve bargain hunter virgins, I do have question.

What time is best to go? I imagine things will get priced/reduced throughout the day but are the real bargains just before closing or shall we get there earlier.

Managing our expectations what bargains have people found before, DH is all about the meat, DD’s the desserts and myself the cheese board goods, who is going to be happy?

Tell me about your experiences if you done and let me know any bargains that you managed to grab.

Sounds exciting! Hope you get some goodies! I online shopped from Ocado, Waitrose and Tesco to avoid having to go into store and deal with the crowds. Also I am working tmrw too and have 2 primary school aged kids at home so not easy to do a quick dash to the shops. Please update once you have been! No idea when they reduce prices in M & S, with Waitrose it is usually around 10-11 am.

I’m in! Aldi at 11ish then Morrisons int he afternoon.

intergalacticplanetary · 23/12/2025 21:53

I was thinking about this today. I don’t need anything but love a yellow sticker deal and there’s bound to be some interesting stuff tomorrow afternoon isn’t there. I reckon there will be some cut price fancy desserts.

MrsWhites · 23/12/2025 21:55

Seen a fb post today to say that M&S are starting their reductions at 3pm!

stomachamelon · 23/12/2025 21:59

Youngest member of my family works for M&S and they are given bits if they are last shift workers in the food area. I have, of course, offered to collect him :)

marriednotdead · 23/12/2025 22:01

I find that many more yellow sticker items appear on the day after Boxing Day!

JDM625 · 23/12/2025 22:04

DH and I have done this in previous years. We don't have kids and clearly have nothing better to do on Christmas Eve than traipse around various shops looking for bargains- that we really don't need!

As a taster, these are some things I've found in the past:
-1 year Tescos had a pallet of brussel sprout bags for 1p a bag
-Bought 2 capons from Aldi for £3 each
-The very last turkey in a Morrisons for £5
-After Christmas, Aldi/Lidl often sell off anything Christmas themed like lebkuchen, stollen etc very cheap

cheesychipsontheoche · 23/12/2025 22:12

Did Aldi today. 75% off a turkey crown, loads of party food reduced
im planning Tesco on the way home from work as it shuts at 7

Ebok1990 · 23/12/2025 22:14

I'm going to MnS at the services tomorrow specifically for a yellow sticker gamble. Fingers 🤞

Hippywannabe · 23/12/2025 22:29

I have an Aldi Too Good To Go bag booked for 5pm tomorrow. I will happily tell you what's in it. Just hoping it isn't just salad!

toddlertoenail · 23/12/2025 23:46

I’m in! Hoping to hit M&S at the local garage on our way home tomorrow for some tasty yellow sticker morsels 🤞🏻

Yellow sticker Christmas Dinner
Love it

HayceeDeeCee · 24/12/2025 00:22

Im at Sainsbury's at 7am tomorrow morning (actually collecting something in Argos) but I always do the Yellow Sticker Tango on Xmas Eve. I'm hoping for Turkey Crown even though we are eating out Xmas Day. It all goes in the freezer for another day :-)

ARunByFruiting · 24/12/2025 00:39

Ds works at m&s and said they've already done their yellow stickers this evening on dates 25/26th so in the morning bargains are to be had!

DeanStockwell · 24/12/2025 06:48

Anybody going to Asda do NOT get this scotch egg.
I was intrigued with the runny yoke concept esp as it recommended reheating them in the oven for 15 mins , surely that would cook the yoke to firm ?

Well God knows what the yoke ìs or what has been done to it but its a very odd clear gloop, more like cold custard consistency and has absolutely no tastes at all .
The sausage is also tastless and dry .
I paid about half price but even if they were giving them away I wouldn't buy anymore.

👀 always wanted to do this but have young children so will be back to see what you all get.

MakeTeaNotWar · 24/12/2025 07:12

I was at M&S this morning when it opened - no yellow stickers

workingcocker · 24/12/2025 07:50

I’m braving it from 3pm. I’m after the flowers as I nearly bought some on Monday. £40 a bunch and they would sit in my kitchen until tomorrow so I thought I would chance it.

Ohnoitsfinallyhappened · 24/12/2025 08:02

Neighbour always gets their Xmas turkey on the yellow sticker, they position their kids and themselves in various shops in town with phones at the ready. Always works but you have to hold your nerve! It's their "fun" start to Xmas.

JDM625 · 24/12/2025 17:23

OP- I've just been to fairly large Morrisons and a Tescos and not a single bargain! Morrisons had an entire pallet of boxed minced pies- not reduced. They did have some fresh fish with a yellow sticker, but nothing different to their normal end of day things.
Tescos still had some frozen Turkeys- full price.

Maybe things will be reduced when they re-open or only when close to their best
before date? I do recall seeing Easter eggs on Boxing day last year so they'll have to clear the stock!

sparkleghost · 24/12/2025 17:43

Was feeling a bit disappointed with the selection left at Aldi and M&S… then spotted a whole Guinea fowl reduced from £18 to £6!! Going in the freezer for in betwixtmas!

cashmerecardigans · 24/12/2025 17:46

I think there is much less of this now, maybe down to so many people pre ordering. For several years I got a turkey on Christmas Eve, this year I bought on Sunday and very glad as m and s have had nothing since.

sciaticafanatica · 24/12/2025 17:51

Dd1 got this lot this morning

Was it salad?!

Got a Poussin for £1.99 in Waitrose which I've just cooked, delicious. Pigs in blankets 99p. Spuds 19p. Pleased, I do enjoy a Christmas Eve bargain hunt.

Gatekeeper · 24/12/2025 18:00

I've just got in from Aldi..it closes 6pm. Not a single bargain to be had...bit miffed!
