We are having batch cooked chilli con carne tonight.

Tomorrow is fish pie - yes it’s cooking but its so easy and everyone will love it.

Shop brought pizza tonight as everyone is out and about socially. Tomorrow.... probably a Chinese takeaway.

ilovelamp82 · 23/12/2025 15:33

Having Butter Chicken tonight. Going for a steak lunch tomorrow, but the kids will have a picnic dinner later on.

PotatoPrometheus · 23/12/2025 15:34

I'm having a ready meal lasagne tonight...not exactly my ideal meal for christmas-eve-eve but life feels rough right now and it's all I can manage. Might treat myself to a garlic bread as well...since it's almost christmas!

StoneColdAlibi · 23/12/2025 15:35

Just pasta tonight
Tomorrow I got one of the big Waitrose wagyu beef pies and will make mash

ChristmasElvie · 23/12/2025 15:35

I’m having a chicken katsu and rice pot from Asda and damn well eating it out of the pot too so I don’t have to do any dishes and my kitchen can stay pristine until my guests arrive tomorrow.

Do you put boiled eggs in your fish pie - no judgement either way, just curious? 🐟

nonegotiation · 23/12/2025 15:36

Pub tea tonight, M&S yellow sticker surprise tomorrow

Gliblet · 23/12/2025 15:37

Parents are cooking Christmas dinner this year so I'm not horrified by the prospect of cooking between now and then.

Tonight - baked salmon with boiled potatoes, asparagus, broccoli, and carrots

Tomorrow - pasta with a sauce made from roasted butternut squash and garlic, lentils, and parmesan

Boxing day - bread and smoked trout, cheese and crackers, pork pie, potato wedges, cheese and onion rolls for the veggies, pigs in blankets for the meat eaters, crisps and dips.

In other years, though, for Boxing day I've cooked a gammon a day or so ahead and served it with oven chips and fried eggs, or we've had soup, or had shop-bought lasagne and garlic bread.

Pancakeflipper · 23/12/2025 15:38

Going to be egg fried rice tonight, might do pigs"n'blankets just for fun

Tomorrow will be something like poached eggs.

Hello39 · 23/12/2025 15:38

Lasagne tonight.
Out tomorrow evening so maybe a substantial lunch.... fish pie with hardboiled eggs sounds good! The eggs are the best part.

SnowyVillage · 23/12/2025 15:42

Chicken & bacon pie tonight

Tomorrow will be a Chinese takeaway

Iknowdino · 23/12/2025 15:44

We are having chicken dippers, chips and peas tonight. I'm so excited. Haven't had them in forever.

Tomorrow we are having sausages, hash browns, scrambled eggs and beans. This was requested by my DD's! I was planning a curry with some nice side dishes but they couldn't be bothered!

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 23/12/2025 15:44

Chip shop tea tonight and then out tomorrow evening!

Sminty2 · 23/12/2025 15:47

23rd is Mousehole Cat day, celebrating the day when Old Tom and his cat, Mowzer, sailed into the storm and caught a boat load of fish to save the villagers from starvation.

We don’t eat Stargazey pie very often, but we always eat fish and shellfish. The grownup children always do this too, it’s a family tradition and I’m sure that fish & chips count too 😊

Clefable · 23/12/2025 15:50

We are just doing spaghetti and tomato and basil sauce tonight. 24th we traditionally do party food, so mozzarella sticks, mini pizzas and burgers, pakora etc but we are away tomorrow all day so doing that on Boxing Day alongside leftovers instead.

Strawberrymoonx · 23/12/2025 15:52

Spiced salmon saag aloo traybake tonight. Tomorrow takeaway pizzas.

JulietSierra · 23/12/2025 15:53

I’m making Tuscan salmon tonight but I refuse to cook on Christmas Eve so tomorrow night it’s a giant M&S lasagne with garlic bread and some tender stem for some vitamins!

whattheysay · 23/12/2025 15:53

Tonight I’m cooking chicken curry and a chickpea curry with rice and naan, tomorrow we having homemade sausage rolls and coleslaw for lunch and for dinner a side of salmon and a stuffed pork fillet for the non fish eaters with potatoes dauphinois and broccoli and green beans.
Years ago I started a whole Xmas eve dinner tradition and yes I regret it I should have started a takeaway tradition.

I’d love this recipe please!

Gowlett · 23/12/2025 15:53

Wow, this is so interesting! I assumed that, in the UK…
Folk ate rich food (nice pies, beef joints etc…) all week.
And cocktail parties with fancy canapés, with neighbours.
This is what the mags, supermarkets, ads portray, isn’t it?
There must be someone buying all of that food, though…

Lakeyloo · 23/12/2025 15:54

We're having beef casserole (in the slow cooker) tonight and chicken kiev (shop bought) with new pots, asparagus, carrots and broccoli tomorrow night. Simple things that don't take much time or prep. We normally have a takeaway on Christmas Eve but we had one last night due to having to take a relative to a medical appointment which over ran.

Rizzla · 23/12/2025 15:56

We always get an Indian takeaway on Christmas Eve!

EllaPaella · 23/12/2025 15:58

Tonight we’re having a baked camembert with french bread, cheese and crackers, smoked salmon, salad and other dips etc
Tomorrow we’re going out for an early tea.
