Thread 20 - the one with Christmas?

I'm taking a punt that this one might see us until Christmas. Will likely live to be proved wrong but let's go with the punt!

The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

@teensknowitall you'll be fine if only one as long as it matches where it lives. So for example I had 2 savanna cards both with a lion on the packet, and a giraffe and a lion who both live there. I also got an ocean card for my whale and a forrest card for my koala.

RedBullAndYop · 19/12/2025 18:43

If anyone happens to be doing an Amazon grocery fresh order, they have 125g Lindt Santas for 75p. I ordered 2 for DC stocking and they’ve just arrived, they are in perfect condition and in date until March 2026.

IlovePond · 19/12/2025 18:52

@Moonnstarz - the ROKA Bantry bags have a top zip and this means that if you are caught out in the rain, everything at the top of the bag gets soaked through the zip. (I found this out to my cost in Cornwall at Easter 😹) Basically, the nylon material is waterproof, but the zip areas aren’t. For this reason, I wouldn’t get a Bantry again, even though I do like the style.

The Canfields, (and any other ROKA bags that have a roll top), are waterproof.

Are the roka bags waterproof does anyone know and are they comfy? Thanks

I have a Roka backpack & am amazed at how comfortable it is despite lack of padded straps- i don't know how they do it. Mine also is deceptively roomy, despite looking quite neat.

It's a medium Finchley in green. I got it 2 years ago now & it still looks so good.

I've received a dispatch email from zavvi telling me that my order should arrive by the 9th Dec. Who knew they'd achieved time travel 😂

Oh wow did they say what year 😂

I bought the turtle fahlo and it duly arrived . Came with a sealed card, I think it said Ocean . Wrapped it up but now doubting it may be relevant for a different ocean animal . Is that possible or is there only issues if more than one purchased ? TIA

We opened the envelopes and were happy to see the animals do match the bracelets despite the wrappers. I don’t think I would bother again but the bracelets are good quality. I think they’ll be enjoyed.

I agree with this, I avoided Roka backpack
for years assuming they’d be uncomfy as the straps seemed so thin and then bought a half price one in a lucky dip promotion (mumsnet xmas bargains thread related I think…) and then was very pleasantly
surprised! I use it for work with my laptop and because the bag itself is so light it’s much comfier than my fancy Kaplan bag with padded straps I bought prior.

SixSevenX · 19/12/2025 19:56

Thanks for the half price dairy milk - absolute bargain!

Snowy Fingers also at a very good price, 37p!

I got a dispatch notice today saying delivery by 10th December lol!

I got some for 19p when I ordered, it’s definitely worth a look through the clearance section. There was a £10 off £60 code too.

DS has announced that he wants a candy cane which seemed like an easy thing to get. However, I’ve been to Asda, Tesco, Waitrose and Morrisons with no luck! Has anyone spotted any in the shops?
The fewer in a pack the better as DS is the only one who likes them and he’s 7 so will probably lick it twice then abandon it somewhere 😂

Snap! Got mine in a MN spotted lucky dip for something like £29.99. Absolute bargain.

NearlyXmasy · 19/12/2025 20:23

My dd loves candy canes so we go to B&M and get them in all sorts of flavours. We do go in November so don’t know if they will still have them.

Aldi have them. Either pink striped (strawberry) or pink/green striped (mint). Only 99p a pack - think there's 8 or 10 in it? I bought them for school (secondary) just on Wednesday & they were a big hit- at under £3 for a whole class that's very bargainous.

SirLottie · 19/12/2025 20:29

@SugarCookieMonster also the kind of thing they tend to have individually in garden centre food halls if you happen to have one near by, I saw a few in webbs a few days ago

Lolandwoody · 19/12/2025 20:33

My zavvi order from 9th December has still not dispatched and they’ve ignored 2 messages 😭

Flying Tiger have them in 2 flavours.

John Lewis also has them and in stock online if that helps!

That’s the same thing I ordered, so
glad yours is being dispatched and hope mine is soon as well!

Moonnstarz · 19/12/2025 21:25

Thanks everyone for feedback on the Roka bags. I have ordered a small Canfield as a present for myself 😂

Søstrene Grene and Cook both have single canes. Pretty sure I have seen them in both Aldi and Lidl quite cheaply.
