Thread 20 - the one with Christmas?

Reastie · 11/12/2025 17:59

I'm taking a punt that this one might see us until Christmas. Will likely live to be proved wrong but let's go with the punt!

The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

If anybody has any Harry Potter fans who also enjoy board games, this is excellent: Hogwarts Legacy. It’s only £30 at the minute but was £50 this time last year and is well worth the price.

Also, I put a referral on the other thread for £10 off a PerfectDraft machine. I got 1 for DH birthday in November and it has been brilliant.

How quickly does the Amazon Haul deliver? I’ve missed the cut off for Christmas delivery for the likes of shein and Temu and always use them for stocking fillers

Hi, I'm after a portable espresso maker. I was looking at a Waccaco one. Does anyone have any suggestions or discounts? I saw someone post about a discount on Rave coffee before but can't find it now unfortunately. Can anyone help please? ☺️

That was me! I posted the Rave discount / referral on the other board. It gets £5 off so I bought a gift set which includes an aeropress and a bag of coffee (you can choose from a selection, including decaf) and thanks to the referral discount, the price including delivery (1st class tracked) was only £30.55.

i thought that was good as the aeropress itself is usually about £36 before delivery.

Oh no! Gardening Express are a bit of a nightmare at the best of times. I avoid them now. Hope you get your order before Christmas but between them and the time of year plus current courier issues, I'd avoid ordering near Christmas in the future (voice of bitter experience)

IlovePond · 16/12/2025 08:20

@MammaGnomes - unfortunately Haul deliveries are super-unpredictable. I have had things come within a few days, others have taken weeks. Unfortunately, some of it comes from China via Amazon’s US distributor - Tennesse? - so it can take a heck of a long time to get to you.

zacsGranny · 16/12/2025 08:24

WOW - my Fahlo bracelets are due to be delivered tomorrow according to RM.
Ordered 25th November and dispatched on 3rd December

Delahot · 16/12/2025 08:32

Any recommendations for a last minute request for a ladies bobble hat for a big head. No colour preference just requested an XL bobble.

PenguinIce · 16/12/2025 08:32

My Fahlo bracelets I ordered on the 25th Nov arrived yesterday. No clue which card goes with which bracelets, is there a way to find out without opening the packet? If the recipients of the bracelets track the animals half as much as I tracked the delivery it will keep them very busy!

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 16/12/2025 08:37

Not a bargain as such but a reminder! Don't forget to register goods for extra warranties etc.
My sons electric toothbrush broke a couple weeks ago and I went to order a new one and thought I'd check the warranty. Very easily got it replaced for a brand new one! Saved myself £25!

Same with Yoto, wasn't charging properly so they sent out a brand new Yoto player and new wireless charger as still just about within the 2 year warranty.

I ordered some Christmas plants on Sunday 7th December for delivery to DSil.
They arrived safely on Wednesday.

Be careful if buying the wonderful Squishmallows at £10 (5” tall, apparently normally £30.99) from the Boots offer, as mentioned above.

Despite it saying that delivery was free I am unable to check out without being charged £3.95 for ‘drop shipping’.

I’ve paid it (with points, so it doesn’t feel like real money) but am writing to customer services to query the extra charge.

£10 Tuesday didn’t have many other great bargains that I noticed but there are gift sets and perfume which might make good presents, plus the IO toothbrushes.

Was this all you were ordering? They have a minimum spend of £25 for free delivery.

SweetPeaPods · 16/12/2025 09:41

Has anyone got a discount code for Laithwaites? I’m already a customer so can’t use any of the new customer codes. TIA

I've had a mixed experience with them over the years, and spent a lot of money, but my latest summer orders were very deleayed, so it's definitely hit and miss..I just wouldn't rely on them again if I really needed something.

I agree, I'd be wary of ordering from them too.

I bought some container bamboos a few months ago after my neighbour unexpectedly cut down her hedge between our gardens, so I bought quickly without properly researching. Delivery took about a month and what turned up (half dead twigs basically) bore no resemblance to the description. I felt foolish after then finding lots of trust pilot and Twitter complaints. Still going through the charge back process with my cc.
