Thread 20 - the one with Christmas?

Reastie · 11/12/2025 17:59

I'm taking a punt that this one might see us until Christmas. Will likely live to be proved wrong but let's go with the punt!

The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

I might get a lot of opinions on this but my little boys first Christmas i bought us all matching PJs and then bought my little boys in all ages upto 7-8 in the sale! So they go away each year and have a cute tradition of all matching for Christmas eve and day! Idea while the sales are starting for people! We dont wear Christmas PJs all year so made sense price wise and use wise for us!

Genius!

Don't forget to use PayPal for 20% cashback on George as well!

Thanks for the reminder! I had 20% off PJs in my Asda Rewards, got the police, fire and Dr theme PJs for DS and 2 school fleeces plus another 29% off through PayPal. I also did it through TCB on the off chance!

@firefly3 I've also had a lot of problems with parcels this year. I'm "highlands and islands" so expect everything to take 2-3 days longer but also have to buy almost everything online. Most couriers have been fine, but everything Royal Mail has disappeared into a black hole as soon as it has gotten to it's first sorting office, apart from Amazon parcels. I'm assuming they've got a well paying deal with Amazon to prioritise their stuff while everything else gets buried under an everywhere growing pile.

I've had to change to only buying from Amazon or from sites that I know use a different courier.

NortyTorty · 14/12/2025 09:43

Not a bargain but related to the Royal Mail woes - I sent my passport off for renewal using 48 tracked on Monday 1st Dec.

It still hasn’t been delivered and it sat at the first sorting office for over a week. So while I’m not defending Fahlo, potentially it’s genuinely out of their hands.

Who knew the tracked services are an aim, not a guarantee!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 14/12/2025 09:50

@NortyTorty it really shows how area dependent it is as I sent off a birth cert for a child’s passport application last friday, they received it monday and I got the passport on Thursday.

I feel your pain - Highlands and Islands here too…..have a daughter at Uni I was sending stuff to as some won’t even send to us - she’s home now for Christmas - which is amazing - but back to the black hole of parcels again now

Hi, I used a referral link for Bubble Tea but only got sent a code for £5 off.

Have they changed the offer or am I doing something wrong?

Thanjs

It’s not just royal mail. Evri are really bad. ITV came to film locally to me about it, and Panorama (I think) are doing an investigation into how bad they are.

I have 2 Argos codes

£10 off £100
£5 off £50

Please pm for codes

Someone was asking about the marks and Spencer afternoon tea box. Yes, I highly recommend it. Comes in a box that will fit through your letterbox. I have bought quite often for various family members.

Ewock · 14/12/2025 10:16

I've managed to contact fahlo through their Facebook page. They are resending the incorrect bracelet. With the cards they are sorted into biomes so all ocean cards come in an ocean packet with a turtle on. The issue is when you order more than 1 ocean animal they are all put in the same envelope so no way of knowing which is which.

They have said I need to open the cards to find out. I replied that this ruined the gift and suggested its not the best way to send them out. For them to admit that lots of customers have said this for a while and they appreciate my feedback.

I did point out that as they've done nothing with this feedback from others that they needed to look at how they're doing things!
Anyway the replacement won't be here on time for me to gift so I'll have to use the incorrect one.
The bracelets are lovely and I know people will enjoy them, just such a hassle.

Works been annoyingly full on this week so I’m just catching up.
I don’t know what your budget is.
but I just came across this. The fact it has furniture as well made me think it probably was a bargain

Thankyou! I asked her in passing what type of house Santa was bringing and she said a frozen one so I found one on marketplace yesterday. Crisis averted!

Me too. I think they must have changed it.

IlovePond · 14/12/2025 10:40

Not surprising, I suppose @Talisin - I think the moral of these deals is not to hesitate 😹

Quidco are offering £20 c/b on a spend of £80+ at Fenwick and 15% c/b at Cult Beauty on a spend of £25+ and £15 back on a £50+ spend.

Limited availability - opt in - today only.

Thanks @hugsandpugs for the Boots no7 tip. I got some body scrub I have been wanting to try, plus a lip balm and tossed in a few hand soaps to get c&c and got the free palette!

I suppose you could regard the hand soap as a present for the house 🙀

Yes, thank you @hugsandpugs. I don't often wear makeup but decided to replace my lipstick and mascara and added eye makeup remover to get the palette and free c&c for pennies over £15!
I'm going to pop the palette in DS's girlfriends stocking.

Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas for what I could buy adult DS2 as a small pressie? He always just asks for money, (which I have already given him), but I want to get him an actual present, but don’t know what!

He won’t use any toiletries I might buy him, has zero interest in alcohol or food/chocolate/sweets or going to the cinema or fashion or aftershave or grooming products.

I’d bought him a small rucksack for his many travels but then he showed me one he’d just bought 🙀

He likes:
Tech - but has already bought himself every gadget going
Geeky/cute stuff - but I always get this wrong!
T-shirts/hoodies - but I have zero idea what he regards as cool - it’s always obscure stuff from computer games or anime, (but he has VERY specific tastes so whenever I try to get him something it’s the wrong thing)
Travelling abroad

I have tried asking him, but have got nowhere. I know he really does want something to open on Xmas Day, but I am at a loss!

Any suggestions? Thanks

That is tricky! A fancy drop down toiletries bag? One of those cases to keep charging cables organised?

I am not much help but I absolutely feel your pain! ds (19 at Christmas!) is so bloody hard to buy for and birthday and Christmas ideas all at once feels like torture!

does he live at home? Could you look through the t shirts he has / you remember and order ones from same anime ?

does he get up in mornings ok? I’ve been swithering on getting ds a vibrating alarm wristband.

PersisFord · 14/12/2025 11:11

I have to throw myself on your collective mercy as I've been so unwell with awful flu and have been struggling just to get through the days....then today I woke up feeling better and have realised its nearly Christmas! I have bought almost nothing after a strong start and it will all have to be online. Please can anyone help with!

My sister who likes fancy makeup, the gym, silver jewellery. £20 budget due to stupid family rules set by my parents which makes it all MUCH HARDER.

My brother who likes running and coffee. Ditto budget.

13 year old nephew who likes drama and singing. £15 budget for him (even worse)

10 year old nephew who likes football to the exclusion of all else. £15 budget.
