Thread 14 - the one where I'm still not sure what a cheese spoiler is

Welcome to Christmas 2025!

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

I really like the sound of this and trawled back to find details but when I go int Good Pair website it seems you have to subscribe. Did you buy the set as a one off? Many thanks 🙏

Does anyone else have some sportshoes codes please? Tried ACTIVEINCLUSION15 but not working for me. Thank you!

HeadyLamarr · 09/12/2025 17:33

Thanks once again for the Anthropologie £20 off. Daughter will be thrilled with the Jellycat!

I’m looking for some family games. Linkee is reduced on Amazon, anyone played it? Looks good but then they always look good!

Hopefully my final purchase - knitted wool Fairisle gloves in blue for my auntie. Doesn't mind the ones that flap over, or full fingers, but not fingerless, not a wristwarmer or long armed pair. I have looked everywhere I can possibly think of and now wonder whether anyone one here might know of somewhere independent or similar. I'd never heard of Gemjar before these threads, so am hoping to find the same but for gloves!

Woolovers have these ones. They also have lovely lilac/purple ones.

@Thatsanotherfinemess1

Damart or Bonmarche is probably your best bet

Any help for the Paw Patrol Lookout Tower My Size. It’s in Smyths for £80 but each vehicle is £10 so it would be £140 all in 🙁 DS has his heart set on it and he’s had a rough few months so I’d like to get it for him but budget would be £80-£100 max!! None second hand in my area

Are you anywhere near Milton Keynes/Northampton I have some paw patrol toys I keep meaning to get rid of, I'm not 100% sure if we still have the tower but I can I have a look if you're nearby

Any bargainous offers on Vodka & Gin, especially unusual ones?

Thanks

Edited

Depending on how many you need to buy, you might want to consider looking at Laithwaites and using a referral to get £40 off an £80 spend. Obviously it’s not cheap but if you have multiple bottles to buy and spend £80 overall then it brings the price down a lot.

There are some interesting vodkas, gins there (look under spirits) and also some great little tasting kits of all spirits which come really nicely presented for a gift. Eg a Discovery Flavoured Gin tasting kit for £22.95, and others for whisky, rum etc. not necessarily a bargain at the standard price but obviously becomes attractive when you’re buying multiple gifts and spending £80+ to get the £40 off.

there are lots of referral codes over on the other board.

daisyboo1 · 09/12/2025 18:20

Thanks @Threeboystwocatsandadog I forgot about Woolovers!

Newnamedillydally · 09/12/2025 18:22

Does anyone happen to have a spare Argos code going? Almost done now but realised one daughter needs a bit of a top up so it looks comparable to her sister!

Thatsanotherfinemess1 · 09/12/2025 16:44

I think I'm looking for the impossible- a hip length fleece or velour lounge top or dressing gown (a zip up front would be amazing) in cerise, navy, bright red, burgundy or green size 8. For a smart, older lady to wear over pyjamas in hospital and to keep warm whilst convalescing (will have lots of visitors and will be embarrassed to be seen sitting around in an obvious dressing gown as usually very active). I thought there would be hundreds- so far only found one in f and f at Tesco that was a very dark browny black (not burgundy a s advertised) and one with weirdly thick arms and no front fastening in m and s

Have you thought about somewhere like mountain warehouse that will do
Snuggly fleece zipped hoodies, nice and fluffy, not sure on length but definitely no dressing gown vibes!

Theraffarian · 09/12/2025 18:35

@Thatsanotherfinemess1 if you happen to be near a big Morrisons that sells clothes they had burgandy open front tops like this yesterday for £10 , looked lovely and snuggly

I have a £7 off £75 let me know if you'd like it and I'll try to figure out how to PM again

Justkeepsmilingx · 09/12/2025 19:08

If you want some bits to pad out the present pile The Entertainer had a load of stuff from ‘Wish’ for £3.
Barbie type dolls that I am sure would do for little ones who just like Barbie dolls, a singing doll, a talking furry goat - fantastic value for £3. I took a photo to try to show what they had.

One banana which you just need an a5/a4 piece of paper per player
All draw a grid and along the top each person thinks of a category, then generate a random letter (google random letter generator) and you have to think of a word for each category beginning with that letter. If 2 people get the same answer they get zero points (if no answer in the grid or it doesn’t count 0 points too), you only get a point if it’s a unique answer. After each round tot up points, and the most points wins at the end of the game (when you have had enough, I suggest for 4 players 6 letters)

Does anyone know how to get a discount at Next ?

Need to buy two pairs of joggers totalling £52 and begrudging paying full price. I can get delivery to store I think but no Topcashback or student discount. Anyone ever found anything that can be used ? Thanks

daisyboo1 · 09/12/2025 19:15

@WhiskyandWater thank you. They're lovely but she specifically wanted blue and I wonder if these may be too dark for her. I've seen so many pairs that nearly tick all the boxes, but not quite!

Oooh, just thought Laithwaite's was just wine! That might be the VERY thing. I need a bottle of each- nice ones- but could add some extras (I have plenty nieces/ nephews in their 20s and my own sons) for top up gifts. Brilliant!
