DD doesn't want socks ...What does she want?

DD, 21, has said Christmas isn't exciting any more.
She doesn't want socks (she is getting socks but that is by the by).

She is a 'young' 21, with some MH issues, still at college.

Loves animals, being at home and feeling safe. Needs some joy.

Won't appreciate: books (dyslexic), jewellery, make up, smelly things, tickets to anywhere loud.

Is half way through a lego project of the Weasley's house so doesn't need any more of that unless a smaller set. Has a snuggly fleece.

Any suggestions for under £50?

Have you seen puzzles like this @TeenToTwenties

Painting by numbers.
Schipper is an excellent brand, there are quite a few animal themed ones and they look good on the wall

Do you already have a jigsaw roll?

@APatternGrammar I’ve never heard of a jigsaw roll before and this is perfect! I’m currently doing a puzzle on a living room table but it’s taking up too much room. I’m going to buy one for myself. Any recommendations or would any old thing do?

sittingonabeach · 04/12/2025 20:26

@JingsMahBucket I have both a jigsaw roll and a porta puzzle. I would prefer porta puzzle over jigsaw roll. It fits under the sofa

Sounds like you are sorted but just to add some ideas

Uggs or similar
Warmie (microwavable hot water bottle, many animal shapes)
One of those daylight alarm clocks (Lumie?)
Fleece lined leggings
Recipe book
Mindful colouring book
Bird feeder for your garden

Not a Christmas present, but I wonder if she would enjoy occasionally looking after a dog via Borrow my Doggy?

My dd the same age and has ASD and dyspraxia. Luckily dd has just got into wildlife and bird watching so I have got her bird related items, she has a birthday a few weeks after Christmas and will get a zoo pass. My other dd (19) is getting a book nook and an adult marble run thing that is similar to the book nook. My 21 year old dd loves socks so I have got her bird socks. Dd1 collects jellycats but I refuse to buy any due to lack of space (she has so many).

I recently bought a heated throw and both DD’s said they would like one, I think you can get weighted ones too.

This is what we should to do but I am reluctant and I can't quite work out why. I think because I would end up having to be more involved than I want (organising, driving etc), and then DD's anxiety would hit and I'd be worried about the dog of a stranger. It is too big a 'thing' for me to manage right now. Which is a shame.

Arts and crafts supplies, if she's into that
Grow a crystal kit
A tie-dye kit
Paint by numbers or a coloring book maybe?
Subscriptions to apps she would enjoy, like a digital scrapbook software or a collage making app, etc if she's into digital art
