Hotel chocolat velvetiser?

My partner mentioned how good this looked and after making yet another hot chocolate with chunks of powder undisolved I'm tempted to order a last minute gift for us both

So is it any good? I've eyed up a selection of the sachets too and they aren't too badly priced

Or any other recommendations for something similar? I looked up dualit milk frother and hot chocolate maker, is that decent?

Thank you 🌟

Another late to this, but I’m reposting a post I made 4 years ago and everything I said still stands - we use it as much as ever and it’s still brilliant:

I bought this for christmas 2020 - it does the same thing as a velvetiser but manually! It’s a hot chocolate shaker - the trick is the lid expands out when you shake the chocolate with the hot milk so it doesn’t explode.
You put chocolate bits in the bottom - I buy Belgian chocolate chips / callets, but you can break up any chocolate bar (orange twirls were nice!) or use any hot choc powder etc. Then you top up with hot milk and shake for 20 seconds, and it pours out beautifully emulsified and creamy. It’s so simple and really good - we’ve loved having hot choc all year!

Pan and a whisk also works to get rid of lumps. As does putting the hot milk and chocolate in my insulated mug, sticking the leak proof lid on and giving it a good shake.

The latter option there is what the hot chocolate shaker I linked to does, but it’s a bit safer as the lid allows for heat expansion of the trapped air. It’s great because it’s fine for kids to use too (slightly older ones, not 5 year olds).

We had a velvetiser but disliked how little it heated and its a faff to clean. We got the Duronic which is much better. For those of you wondering about the expense, why not get a manual hot chocolate shaker:

I bought one for DD to take to Uni as I figured that an electric one wouldn’t last long. I might upgrade her if she moves to a smaller house share.

I think we bought ours in Knoops.

Agree these are great - just added a post on them above. We got ours in 2020 and still use it all the time. Nice and hot, and no manky sweet powder clumps needed! Just lovely chocolate and milk.

It’s great. No hand washing needed. The small part can go in the dishwasher and the inside is cleaned by switching it on with water and washing up liquid inside.
Mine makes hot drinks not just warm. I love it!
