Whilst putting my tree’s up today and listening to Christmas music I got to thinking about my all time favourite Christmas song. This year I had Ring Out, Solstice Bells on repeat basically the whole time I decced the front room, what a fantastic tune!

Whats yours?

Fairytale of New York. Although it really grates on me the woke police removed the word faggot from the song... And left in the lyrics
"You're a bum
You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk".

@VickyEadieofThigh I’ve just listened to that Kate Rusby song - wow

She has several albums of Xmas songs - mostly traditional and folk, some she's written herself. Her annual Xmas tour is superb.

Wombling Merry Christmas

Has to be Fairytale of New York but only the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl not any other version <glares at Ronan Keating for taking a stab at it > and must be the original , unadulterated , unsanitised version.

Edit - I realise it isn't the original version of the song , the one we recognise was re-configured by Steve Lilliewhite

I believe in Father Christmas by Greg lake, used to be fairytale of New York which is still a firm second but I just love I believe in Father Christmas.

@Kickinthenostalgia that’s my absolute favourite too. There are others such as Christmas Wrapping and Driving Home for Christmas but they will never beat Greg Lake.

I’m not the least bit religious but I do love I Saw Three Ships and The Holly and the Ivy sung by the Cambridge choirs.

CyanMaker · 22/11/2025 22:24

"Oh Holy Night" sung by Josh Groben.

A Spaceman came travelling or gaudette equal firsts for me

I like both but Gaudette trumps it for me. Also like Soul Cake by Sting.

White Christmas- Bing Crosby!

Silent night.

JoeyJava · 23/11/2025 00:40

1: The Darkness - Christmas Time
2: Tom Jones - Baby, It's Cold Outside
3: The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping

It's a bit tight after that, but those are my top 3. Love the daft ones as well 🥰
