This post is a work in progress and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
If you have any referral links then please post on this thread:

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 4 and 6yo- my internal ‘theme’ for presents this year is OUTDOORS IS FUN FGS. Dragging them out is an absolute challenge. So far I’m thinking stuff to build a tree house (rope ladder/buckets pullies etc) and maybe some big truck tires to roll down the hill? We have a forest! We have a field! Why won’t they bloody play outside?!! 😭

I normally stick to posting bargains, but need some help! Have late 30s/early 40s SIL as my secret santa. Lives a long way away so we barely see her. She likes high end beauty, but the budget is £30. Help!

If they’re into it, skincare and make up is always well received.

When my niece was 11 or 12 I gave her a first skin care set with face wash and reusable cotton pads, make up wipes, day and night moisturiser plus a vitamin C serum.

The last few years have been make up from elf but this year I think I’m going to get some Korean skincare products. I listen out for products the apprentices/assistants at work mention and then go for those!

@RestitutionGranted my DD is 11- sure fire winners for her are Jellycats, P Louise products, bubble skincare, Ariana Grande Perfume, Dork Diary books, art supplies especially watercolours, anything related to Katseye (K pop band).

Cadbury 850g bar is £9.34 in the Amazon early Black Friday deals. I was holding out for cheaper but caved lol.

I did a subscribe and save to bring it to £8.60 lol

Anyone got 10-11 and or 12–13 year old girls? I need to buy for my nieces and am so out of touch as my kids are older now.

Budget around £25-30 each. Any suggestions welcomed! In the past I’ve bought them pop star stuff, craft kits and books but fear that might not cut the mustard now….

My dd and her friends (who are 13) love sol de janeiro which I’ve seen mentioned a lot on these threads.. I can’t remember what the bargain was though sorry, maybe someone else can remind us!

Asking for help please, 2 things

Has anyone seen a 7 fat gold Christmas tree, prelit?
I can only see one in John Lewis and it’s £250 - ideally want to spend a bit less than that, I can’t imagine JL does a Black Friday across the board discount??

I need a secret Santa for a woman I really don’t know at all well. She’s early 30’s, Asian - only mentioning this as it makes it trickier to get make up so I’m hoping for recommendations, has 3 kids under 10 and works full time. The SS value is £20 - any ideas please?

For the Secret Santa I'd head over to the Accessorize sale - they have some fab things for your budget and not as personal as skin care/makeup.

StrawberryThief1930 · 18/11/2025 18:26

the sol de janero bargain was a boots one, with 20% off, and then some other discount and a free markup bag with minis.

I think the Smyths is only til Sunday isn't it?

cheesychipsontheoche · 18/11/2025 18:35

What was the lowest price the giant Cadbury’s went to last year approx, does anyone remember? I’m pretty sure I didn’t buy any as they didn’t get anywhere near the low prices of 2023

Yes, it never went down lower than about £9 last year. In 2023 it was something like £2.89

Torch, binoculars and magnifying glass in a little rucksack

A black and decker workmate, mini woodworking tool kit and wood to chop up and nail together. I'm not joking, ours loved doing this.

Anyone seen a gold 7 ft prelit tree anywhere??

Hi, does anyone know any discount codes for hotel chocolat? Or whether they usually do a Black Friday deal? DS has asked for some nice chocolates so I’m thinking of getting the big box

They do usually have offers for Black Friday, both on Amazon and on their own website.

Thank you, I’ll hold off for now then

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 18/11/2025 19:26

I noticed that the Hotel Chocolat boxes of Christmas chocolates are cheaper on Amazon than on the Hotel Chocolat website or in their shops .

nicky2512 · 18/11/2025 19:33

I was about to buy the Hotel Chocolat Patisserie sleekster on Amazon a few mins ago for 23.50 and it jumped up to 29.50! Was not impressed but hopefully that means it’s being reduced when Black Friday starts.

Raindancer411 · 18/11/2025 19:36

Anyone suggest a good head torch at all?

CoffeeAndIce · 18/11/2025 19:39

The asda rewards app has £10 off a £50 spend on clothes in store only, with unlimited use. Might be good for Christmas jumpers/pyjamas!

  • If you have full-priced items in your order, enter MSEBF40 at the checkout for 40% off those.
  • If you have already-reduced outlet items in your order, enter MSEBF50 at the checkout for an extra 50% off those.
  • For free standard delivery, enter JEWELS at the checkout. Delivery's normally £4.90 for orders under £70.

HouseWithASeaView · 18/11/2025 19:55

If anyone is thinking of getting the Ninja Slushie, it’s currently £224 on Amazon against an RRP of £349. I imagine other places will also discount it over BF.

As for the giant bar of chocolate, last year I paid £8.67 so a price rise of less than £1 seemed bargainous given how much chocolate prices in general have risen. It is nothing like the year when it was ridiculously cheap though. Unfortunately, since that year, DS sees it as a Christmas tradition. Actually, what he’d really like the tradition to be is to have a bar of chocolate as proportionally big as him as that giant Cadburys bar was that year. He’s grown 7 inches this year so the bar will be even more disappointing this year than it was last year!
