This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Please tell me about half price sock shop adventure calendar socks. Last year I ordered DH a sock advent calendar from Amazon. After a month of waiting I got a refund. Time was tight so I bought a sock shop one which was really spendy but he did like it. This year DD wanted something similar. I ordered from a different Amazon supplier back in September and, massive surprise, I was refunded yesterday. The sock shop ones are £59.95 which is waaay more than I wanted to spend. She usually gets chocolate, but first year as a student, her halls are boiling so chocolate would melt and this would help stretch the gap between wash days.
Any bargains out there or should I wait it out for a bit longer?

If it doesn’t have to be an advent calendar the sock shop have a pack of 5 ladies bamboo Christmas socks for £6.99. You can save an extra 10% with the code FAMILY10.

Im sure the sock shop advent calendars were reduced last year but can’t remember when. You can save £5.99 with the code for the advent calendar socks though.

You might want to wait another 24 hours. It takes ages for them to unfurl and plump up!

🤣 I was just about to say the same thing, mine arrived yesterday afternoon and still have some curling. I've gave them a light shake which has helped a little (not sure if I should have done that or not but hey ho!) but I'll wait another night or two. For only £8 I think it was, I can wait a few days as they look like they'll be good when fully plump ☺️

I’ve just been shaking mine a lot and they have plumped up loads already 🤣 😅

Just had my British Boxers order cancelled because of lack of stock. I ordered it over 2 days ago and had had two confiration emails since. Have theu not heard of stock control? If you cant deliver you shouldnt take payment! Am a bit suspicious that neither pair of pjs (in different sizes) are available. Rather seems like they might have more likely had second thoughts on the deal price.

Qwerty21 · 29/10/2025 13:49

I got a refund for the postage on my bamboo pillow 💪🏻

On the website it says to massage for one to two minutes after unwrapping. Leave for 24 hrs then pop in the dryer for 3-5 minutes(providing you have a dryer)
Also, you can pop it in the dryer every 3-4 weeks for five to ten minutes to plump up again.

I'm looking for Christmas crackers with socks in...Please help, mumsnet. Preferably not too spendy as our house is going to be rather full this year!

Sasha07 · 29/10/2025 14:22

@hugsandpugs as soon as I saw your message, I went up and gave them (I bought 4) a little roughing up 😅 quite the workout 🤣
@Tweedled it would never occur to me to look back and see if there was a way to do it, I just assumed they should be left to naturally puff up! I do have a dryer so I'll give it until the edges don't feel crispy anymore then I'll pop them in the dryer for a few mins later on, thanks alot for the advice!

mumonthehill · 29/10/2025 14:26

@Tryonemoretime have you thought of buying a cracker kit and adding socks of your choice? It might work out cheaper.

I have just had a look for these.
There are lots on Amazon but they are quite expensive .
Could you roll a pr of socks up and push them into a cracker ?

I had an email from them yesterday to advise that my order has been shipped. Just checked the tracking but says unable to confirm status of order at present and to try again tomorrow. Fingers crossed there will be an update then

Gutting that they’ve cancelled yours :(

I was going to ask if anyone had received theirs yet - mine have been out of the the packet for more than 24 hours and still looking rather misshapen! Sounds like this is normal so will give them a bit longer to adjust. They were certainly packed in very tightly 😂

eta @tweedledthanks for adding the details about giving them a quick tumble. I looked at the little bags they came in for instructions but didn’t think to look back at the website and didn’t notice it when ordering either.
