I don't know about anyone else but I find I struggle to think of gift ideas for myself (I have bday just after xmas so I get double trouble).

I've always found these threads quite helpful in sharing what others are getting for inspiration. I hope to maybe get a couple of these things if I'm lucky...

My DH is a sucker for hot chocolate would he like these black forest things

If he has a velvetiser or milk frother that does hot chocolate then yes! They are lovely flakes of chocolate and taste really indulgent. They do lots and lots of flavours- my other favourite is clementine and caramel

Just spotted a gorgeous Storm charm watch in gold & teal to add to the list!

ilovesushi · 11/10/2025 11:58

Wowza! Love your list! I love those gin glasses. Not my usual style but they look like a joy to drink from.

All I can think of for my list is leggings and a yoga/ pilates top from Sweaty Betty or similar.

I find HC chocolate sachets a bit too chocolatey but I enjoyed the black forest one last year (and the ice cream).
I like Lindt hot chocolate in the velvitiser.
I would recommend one I use mine quite a lot!

Age 46 here and Books, lots and lots of books 📚

Dliplop · 11/10/2025 12:22

@cinnamonda I have a long list because tradition in my family is to delay some spending on yourself and also we share the list around and gossip about what we’ve bought so I’ll have 6 different group chats soon about all of it. We also each make sure there’s a big variety in pricing so no one has to say they’re tight on money. In my case I’ll be more excited on the day if my brother brings me the cinnamon buns from the bakery near his house than if my dh gets me a smart watch.

We don’t get everything on our lists in my family - just like santa would always choose one thing!

Dippythedino · 11/10/2025 12:23

Silverpaws · 09/10/2025 22:30

Dh announced today he won't be getting me any gifts because apparently I don't need anything.
I'm sure Father Christmas won't forget me though 😊

@Silverpaws that's awful, really unkind. I wouldn't buy him anything for Christmas either because he also doesn't need anything at his age.....

Shryykjrg · 11/10/2025 12:37

I think I have now made my list.

Fudges dark chocolate florentines
dark chocolate orangettes
dark chocolate cherries
St Eval candles or diffusers -inspiritus, winter thyme, tranquility.
Senspa soap, bubble bath, body lotion or essential oil blend
Neom or Espa candles or diffusers
M&S apothecary refills for calm and restore diffusers and hand soap (they seem to have stopped making these though)
Good Earth lychee and pear white tea
Fortnum&Mason Piccadilly blend coffee beans or Costco Costa Rica ones (these also seem to be discontinued)

I’ve just bought myself a beauty advent calendar and also a beauty box so no skincare needed this time.

I would be delighted to receive any of the above!

Edited because I forgot to put books on there!! Basically I want to lounge around in a house that smells like a spa eating nice chocolates, drinking nice hot drinks and reading!

Tiddlywinkly · 09/10/2025 20:23

Early 40s.

I want specific things - specific books and (reasonably priced) jewellery and skincare. I secretly get really disappointed if people go off on a limb and then I feel like it's wasted money. I just want what I want! Is that wrong?! I don't care if I don't have any surprises. I look forward to receiving them anyway (I also enjoy giving btw!).

This. So much.
I feel a brat for just wanting what I want, but it feels such a waste to receive things that I won't use. I also hate buying gifts for the same reason, occasionally I'll see something that's perfect for someone, but often I'm buying for the sake of it.

Moonless · 11/10/2025 12:56

Lego, but all too expensive for gifts, although I'm happy with second hand. I love the motorised lighthouse and the bookshop.
Sketchbooks.
A3 printer
Flared jeans
Silver jewellery.

bogartysmack · 11/10/2025 13:11

Hate having to tell people ideas! I buy things as I see them and very rarely consider myself for new things! Ask for money and keep it in a separate purse maybe. My birthday is I a few weeks (46) I often buy my own bits n bobs and we do the pretend giving and suprise face thing!!I still have a voucher for a massage from Mothers Day to redeem!!

I would really like some perfume "Pretty as Poison" by Cursed fragrances, money for a tattoo or anything from my Amazon wish list. My Amazon wish list is full of CDs and DVDs as I like to own my music and films, lots of books and other random items which I would not treat myself to. My children tell me that they love my wish list as the things on there vary in price and they know I will love whatever they buy.

Are the Cursed fragrances good? I've been eyeing them up for one of my DILs whose birthday is right before Christmas (honestly, in our family three of us have birthdays either late November or early December - it's ridiculous!) and they look brilliant but I'd like to know if they smell good too!

I third this. I’m very specific with what I want. I’d rather get a gift voucher than something I don’t want or need

Cara707 · 11/10/2025 13:36

Mid-30s here. I'd like a filled stocking containing: earrings, bracelet, pretty notebook, fluffy socks and some retro stocking fillers (e.g. yoyo, party bag bubbles, small soft toy).

DJSteves · 11/10/2025 13:37

I’ve bought my husband Cure tickets in Berlin next year. I’m dropping hints for a bigger Le Cruset pot. I’m happy to get one from the outlet shop

Bananafofana · 11/10/2025 13:44

Age 47. Does anyone else have completely shared finances with their spouse / partner and tend to just buy themselves whatever they want during the year? So there’s no excitement about Christmas as it’s either something you’ve bought yourself or something bought with your money that’s just been wrapped up but you would have got it for yourself anyway ?

both parents dead so the excitement of a surprise from them (and giving to them) now gone

I buy for my friend whose family just send money and who has an autistic son who doesn't buy her anything for Christmas at all. She is a Christmas lover but she has nobody to buy her anything as a 'surprise' at all, so I like to find her something she will love but wouldn't think to buy herself.

I'm getting some great ideas from here.

We have completely shared finances but don’t really buy ourselves much stuff throughout the year. I tend to save up anything I’d want for Christmas or birthday. Or, for example, I’d buy myself a bar of chocolate from Tesco but wouldn’t buy myself the orangettes so they still feel like a treat at Christmas.

Maerchentante · 11/10/2025 14:35

We don't do Christmas presents for adults in my family, but if we did, my list would have some items that are not super cheap.

A proper hiking backpack

https://www.deuter.com/uk-en/shop/backpacks/p2205877-hiking-backpack-futura-26

A new Mulberry Continental Wallet

https://www.mulberry.com/us/shop/women/small-leather-goods/purses/continental-wallet-night-sky-small-classic-grain

Got one, but it's eight years old and is showing signs of use.

The new Richard Osman

Accesories for my Bosch Standmixer

Bits and pieces for my flat like a mirror, a nice room divider along the lines of https://www.orientique.nl/en/room-divider-van-gogh-almond-blossoms-4-panel.html

A new phone and maybe an Apple Watch

I know it sounds quite greedy, but a few of these things I will get for my 47th Birthday in a few weeks (Stand mixer accesories) and some others I will buy and gift myself for Christmas like the book or maybe the backpack.

I’m so intrigued by all the Lego on this list! Is this a new thing? It sounds like this might be a lovely gift from my kids. Does anyone have photos of Lego flowers or things they’ve got?

One Christmas I got a coffee bean subscription for a year. It was fantastic!

@Vroomfondleswaistcoat They are really nice, you can buy sample bottles too and they come really nicely packaged.
