I don't know about anyone else but I find I struggle to think of gift ideas for myself (I have bday just after xmas so I get double trouble).

I've always found these threads quite helpful in sharing what others are getting for inspiration. I hope to maybe get a couple of these things if I'm lucky...

I’m 63 and have two young adults - one at uni one in minimum wage - so would rather they didn’t spend too much on me! I’m a widow so no partner. I’ve asked my DD to get me some honeycomb and jams from a particular market stall where she’s at uni and my son for some scented candles made at a shop local to him. I’d be happy with those, and I’ll buy myself some yarn 😁, though it doesn’t have to be Christmas for me to do that!

Diversion · 10/10/2025 22:17

I would really like some perfume "Pretty as Poison" by Cursed fragrances, money for a tattoo or anything from my Amazon wish list. My Amazon wish list is full of CDs and DVDs as I like to own my music and films, lots of books and other random items which I would not treat myself to. My children tell me that they love my wish list as the things on there vary in price and they know I will love whatever they buy.

MrsRolandRat · 10/10/2025 22:33

My favourite perfume, fleur de peau by diptyque, that’s all on my wish list.

drspouse · 10/10/2025 22:43

I've actually thought of something I want! I want some new glasses - wine glasses I got in Mexico and drinking glasses like those American jam jar ones (no handles). We had a load of each and they got broken inevitably. I've decided to leave that with DH. I cannot find ANY water glasses I like - they are all either too small or look really twee and crystally to me or are too tall, thin and unstable.

34ransum · 10/10/2025 22:51

Now this is my type of thread.

34 and I would like:

Running shoes that don't hurt my bunions- maybe some pink Osaka ones
A slim gold bracelet
Airpods... for now I'll continue nicking DH's
Some more Sweaty Betty sports bras
A book on longevity / healthy living
Ffern perfume
Emma Thompson "Mummy" mug with hearts
Lindt bunnies and santas galore
... and for my 2yo to sleep through the night please :/

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 09/10/2025 19:11

Hubby has already got me a pair of knee high boots I wanted for Christmas

And I've treated myself to gig tickets 😂

Very little on my list I don't really need anything

Me neither, I think I consider Christmas lists to be for children, have never had one as an adult. Have to wrack my brains for something when family ask as I buy something myself if I need it and if it’s too expensive I wouldn’t ask for it anyway.

Appleseason · 10/10/2025 23:13

I need some new slippers. I get them every year so I don’t need to ask for them. I love having cosy feet.
What I would really really really like is a sports massage. I go running a lot and my hips get very tight. It’s a bit pricey though, we don’t generally do big presents.

OrigamiOwls · 10/10/2025 23:16

JingsMahBucket · 10/10/2025 17:29

@Mrsplants and @GenerateNewUsername thanks for posting about the earbuds. I’ve bought them for myself too! OH snores and instead of scrolling my phone at 2:30am, I’m going to try listening to a deliberately dull book or the Shipping Forecast to get back to sleep.

It sounds like you might want to try sleep stories on the Calm app ☺️

Hohumdedum · 10/10/2025 23:17

Warm dressing gown in a natural fabric.
Wellies
Silk knickers
Books
Theatre ticket
Plant pot with trellis
Black cashmere cardi
Cross-stitch set

Beesandhoney123 · 10/10/2025 23:19

I'd quite like some jewellery, a lovely vintage cocktail ring perhaps.

And I do like the beauty boxes. M&s is nice.

If I want anything specific I'll have to get it myself because dh likes to surprise me.

A long to the floor soft dressing gown with pockets. Maybe with a hood. Glamorous. In red. Not shiny. Not that awful calf length they all have. I always look like a sack of spuds tied up with rope round the middle.

Foreverexhausted1 · 10/10/2025 23:43

Fabulous thread to read through!

I would love:
A new pair of huggie earrings as I've lost one of the stones in my current pair
New hair straighteners
A silver disc for my necklace with DS3's initial stamped on it
Lego or a jigsaw puzzle

And if Santa (little ones helped by DH) could manage something from Hotel Chocolat in my stocking that would be absolutely splendid

QueenOfCastille · 10/10/2025 23:51

I want one thing only, but it is expensive. I want to join a club. I will check the budget nearer Christmas.

everychildmatters · 10/10/2025 23:59

If all three of my kids (18, 15 and 5) are home and together at Christmas I will be happy ❤️
I will spoil them like mad but can't really think of anything I would like for myself! Maybe some super-cosy pjs?

BeautifulSongsofLove · 11/10/2025 01:40

DrowningInSyrup · 09/10/2025 21:15

What I would absolutely love is if everyone could club together and cancel Christmas for 5-10 years. It's awful.

I don't like asking for specific gifts as it seems grasping
I don't like receiving gifts because I never want them
I don't like giving gifts because they never want them
It's tedious and the same every year
We always get snowed in and lose power in my rural location
It's competitive with what the kids will get
The kids never play with the stuff they get
Baby Jesus didn't exist
If he did and he died for our sins, then what did that really achieve?
We lied to our children about the existence of Santa claus
We now ask them to lie about the existence of Santa claus
Elf on a shelf is a little twat
101 other reasons.

Edited

I enjoy the atmosphere, the Christmas lights, decorations, some of the food, the carols (Catholic more then CoE) even though not practising), the day itself, foot, and relaxing with family. A few years ago I asked to stop buying/receiving presents from family and friends. I now buy presents for my parents, young nieces/nephews, and for me, and it's made the season all the more enjoyable

Agirlandherdog · 11/10/2025 07:30

Can someone who's bought the earbuds let me know if they're worth buying please?

Mikart · 11/10/2025 07:40

Books. Lots of lovely hardback books
Goldfield and Banks perfume
Massage vouchers

MonkeyTennis34 · 11/10/2025 08:32

@Hdpr
Thanks for that recommendation. I’ve found one for only £22 at Primark. It’s definitely full length and really snuggly.
They come in cream (gorgeous but not practical for me and MonkeyDog) or burgundy which I’ve bought for DH….to give to me!

Rosebold · 11/10/2025 09:00

Really enjoyed reading everyone's lists! I am 48 and I would like:

To replenish my skincare for the year, some of the stuff I like is pricey like P50 Lotion biologique recherche, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, NIOD Copper Peptides, Eye Serum, Facial Mist and so on so I usually buy enough for the year and stick it all in a bag for my DH to give me for Christmas, he's so relieved he doesn't have to figure it out for himself he happily hands over the ridiculous amount it all costs!

I do like nice edible bits so maybe some bougie crispy chilli oil (I put this on everything), Turkish delight, dark chocolate gingers, Hotel Chocolate 70% Dark Hot Chocolate and some top quality loose leaf Earl Grey tea. A box of black magic wouldn't go amiss either.

I'm a big reader so books are always on the list, I quite fancy the The Empusium by Olga Tokarczuk but book tokens are also good so I can have a nice afternoon browsing myself.

Thick socks are both desired and required, always.

I'm needing to update my Samsung watch but I'm not sure about the design of the new galaxy 8, I haven't seen it yet in the flesh but if I like it when I do see it that might be on the list.

Other than that I usually get a couple of calendars, a diary, some ink for my fountain pen, art materials and camera film. We usually go to the ballet which is part of my Christmas but the Christmas ballet isn't on in my city this year so will see what else is on.

DH usually asks for a bottle of Gin, Clothes, sporting equipment, I think he also wants one of those mysterious golf watches this year. We also usually get a shared gift like a game, a jigsaw or we like those single use mysteries in a box that you work together to solve, they are usually good fun over the Christmas holidays. We also fancy a decent pair of binoculars or a telescope, not sure what will best suit our needs so that requires more research.

Sounds like a lot but we really don't buy much for ourselves during the rest of the year.

bobcat1987 · 11/10/2025 09:56

Ideally I want the childs play 2 Chucky doll to go with my other Chucky doll I got last yr 4 Xmas lol

ThatLadyLady · 11/10/2025 09:58

Mainly cash/gift cards this year as I’m going on some holidays next year. Also thermals, a nice winter coat and an osprey day bag, for the travels

DaveWatts · 11/10/2025 10:06

Starlight1984 · 10/10/2025 09:06

Same age and your list sounds fab. I also want some ankle wellies for taking the dogs out as I'm sick of pulling on my massive ones and trying to get them off at the back door!

I have the Barbour Kingham ankle wellies which are great (I know Barbour is no longer de rigeur when it comes to wellies but I don't care)

GameOfJones · 11/10/2025 10:07

I'm never going to get everything (or anything!) on this list but a girl can dream. In an ideal world I'd want:

Rituals body scrub and shower foam

My engagement and wedding rings to be resized so I can wear them without worrying they'll fall off my finger.

A drip filter coffee machine that has a keep warm function.

A bottle of Bumbu spiced rum.

Brimstone by Callie Hart (the sequel to the Quicksilver book I really enjoyed).

Sigrid heart necklace

Lapis T Bar Necklace

Nova ring

Givenchy Irresistible perfume

A box of Maltesers

Sanctuary wet skin moisturiser

I consider Christmas lists to be for children

I think people are just discussing things they like, mostly, rather than an actual list to be shown to others. I won’t get anything on my list because I won’t actually show it to anyone, and it’s all over budget anyway. Might buy some of it for myself.

Rosebold · 11/10/2025 10:24

@QuantumLeek Also some posters criticizing others for getting so much for Christmas will perhaps spend on themselves all year round, enjoy recreational shopping and have other expensive spending habits. I don't really love shopping (except for books) and so I get all the stuff I need / want within reason for Christmas or birthdays.

Either of these.

Some more Solace jewellery - I don't wear jewellery much but I do like not having to take it off when I do.

Some fused glass stuff from Etsy.

Maltesers.

Bee honey hand cream from surreybees.co.uk although I'm half tempted by the beekeeping course as well.
