The one I love and know my child would love is £499 in John Lewis

plan toys Victorian dolls house, look on eBay. There are some with the furniture included as well.
mine had one when they were little girls, we added a bit more at birthdays and Christmas and it's up in the attic. It was hugely popular with them and their friends. Hopefully not too long until there's another generation here to play with it!

I was about to say this, but looking at their website, I’m not sure they do anymore. We got DD’s there 11 years ago.

The Asda dolls house is surprisingly good and also the furniture to go inside .

not sure they still make them but my daughters was passed down from her stepsister and it's actually very well made

One of my big disappointments as a mother of a little girl was that she was simply not interested in doll's houses. I kept trying to tempt her but she would have none of it. So, despite having sourced some beautiful houses with gorgeous furniture, in the end I never bought one. 😔

Seconding the Asda one, we had a this when my dd was smaller and it’s wooden and looks really traditional and is very good quality and just amazing for the price. We got it when she was in nursery and she’s now in year 6 (and not really bothered about it) but it’s lasted brilliantly.

Not at all helpful, as this information is now too late - but this weekend was Miniatura - a 2 day exhibition and sale of all things dolls house related.

It's a very popular hobby among adults!

Just another idea - if you or your husband are into building/making things...

Websites like this:
https://www.dollshousemania.co.uk/

Contain dollshouse kits, flat-pack mdf, you can put them together with a bit of basic DIY, and then paint them however you like.

It is cheaper than a lot of the posher/ready made ones.. and it will be personal and unique to her.

Looking at them, it makes me wish I had a child who liked them - I'd love to build one of those as a Christmas surprise

Mrseasy · 15/09/2025 09:34

make sure you also have a look at the inside of the house before buying!

The Sylvanian Hotel is really nice, you can often get it on ebay like this one

My dd and niece have both had the Asda one. It’s been perfect.

Antimimisti · 15/09/2025 09:37

Just joining because I was desperate for a proper, old-fashioned dolls' house when I was a little girl - never got one, no eBay in those days to get one at an affordable price. Enjoying the recommendations here.

Unpaidviewer · 15/09/2025 10:53

We bought a vintage one off Facebook market place and put new wallpaper and flooring in.

Agree on Asda - my neices have This one and it's great

This one looks amazing!
My dd had the wooden early learning centre house and I still have it out (she’s 23).

Same. I'm wondering if 50 is too old for a dolls' house...
