The Christmas Bargain Thread No 2 - The one where it all went very fast

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/09/2025 18:32

Posting on behalf of @Reastie as I'm guessing she's busy and the last thread was almost full.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Thanks @hugsandpugs - it says online you can return in store do that’s what I am going to do. I am not bothered about an exchange - just want a refund now!

My 60% off Haul has arrived. I am very pleased - none of it is rubbish and the whole lot cost £20.

I am particularly pleased with the towels, tea towels, yoga blocks, magnetic bookmarks and socks. The nicely packaged cardboard box contains a pair of novelty husky socks that I can’t show you as they are for DH’s stocking and he’s in the room!

I am not sure why I ordered two pink cooling towels, though!

I’m also pleased with the yoga socks and strap, laundry bags for the washing machine and two washing up brushes that are already under the sink so not in the photo!

Glad that all yours was not rubbish! Mine is arriving Tuesday and I can't wait!!!

Goldenphoenix · 13/09/2025 16:46

@Serenitesanta
Lakeland heated throws are excellent and I think they deliver to NI.

IlovePond · 13/09/2025 16:51

Mine arrived early @ChristmasMad1 - it was due Tuesday!

It’s better than my first order, I think. (Although it was my fault I ordered paper bookmarks instead of magnetic ones and three keyrings with my own initial first time around!) The only real rubbish items were the underbed storage bags.

I have another order coming next week of things I forgot from this one 🙈

Re: Novelty socks - animal designs with ears

These are a little bit bigger than such items usually are, so would probably fit up to UK size 6/7.

The yoga socks are adorable and good quality at first try. I wish I had bought more than two pairs. However, I am size 5 and they only just fit me.

Any other recommendations for a heated electric throw - can’t get the dreamland one delivered to Northern Ireland.
Been looking teddy bear ones at Dunelm and ones on Amazon that are faux fur.
Any recommended?
Also any one seen quilts similar to these for a reasonable price - not a child pattern though - I am just showing the child pattern one as an example of the cosy factor I want 🥶

Costco have some at the moment if you are a member, or know anyone who is - https://www.costco.co.uk/Furniture-Mattresses/Home-Furnishings-Accessories/Cushions-Throws/Berkshire-Luxe-Faux-Fur-Heated-Throw-in-4-Colours-127-x-152-cm/p/4000000

My haul stuff was pretty rubbish (almost everything was smaller than I expected) but I didn’t need anything and only ordered through FOMO so I feel a lesson was learned. 😆

noodledoodler · 13/09/2025 17:41

My boots order also arrived with the box opened, stuff inside ok tho. I was able to use my sparks 20% off both on the app and again today instore when I went to pick up my bargain beauty box. The Fiorelli bag is lovely. Thanks to all the posters for the tips on above items 😀

Fillybuster · 13/09/2025 18:10

@Serenitesanta i bought mine from Costco last year: velvet on one side, faux fur on the other, has multiple settings and is absolutely amazing. I think it was less than £40. Best self-selected gift ever!

CrimboPourLesKids · 13/09/2025 18:17

I do that but I’m very far behind - about 500 posts behind

Just wondering what people do in scenarios where they are using great information from this thread to get a bargain on a gift for someone who they may have spent 40 on but got the bargain for 20. Do you then buy more to take up to 40, or just thr 20. I know its a personal choice but wondering??

Depends on the person/item tbh but normally I go by what I would have spent. After all I’m the one that’s put in the work to find the bargain and my time is worth money if that makes sense?

One of my parcels come and I agree, they are smaller than expected! I don't mind then at the 60% off price but wouldn't have been happy if they were at the full price!

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 13/09/2025 18:45

My boots order has been dispatched including both freebies. 🥳

Orlando2025 · 13/09/2025 18:47

Does anyone had any ideas for some nice baubles? Personalised or not. I wanted to give some as gifts this year as we have a baby's first Christmas and soles losses in the family I though could be marked with a nice bauble to remember. Thank you!

TheBigBagBabes · 13/09/2025 18:49

I went into Tesco today and they had a lot of paperchase notebooks, laptop bags and pens discounted! And also just a reminder to check if your bank do cash back on purchases (I’m with Lloyds and Monzo and they both do it). Works just like Topcashback etc and usually paid any cash back within 24 hours so no waiting for it to track etc

The site with 70% off sale items (which aren't generally 70% off, just a few are) applying the code OUTLET20 should take 20% off... except when I apply it, it takes a flat £3 off, regardless of what's in my basket.

Anyone else found similar?

If anyone is looking for a gift idea for those who appreciate lovely things, there are a number of Elizabeth Scarlett velvet embroidered pouches on the website reduced to about £21 which is a good price. Personally I think they are too nice to use as a makeup bag, but I use them for travelling and also inside my longchamp bags as a handbag organiser to keep everyday stuff like my wallet, phone, AirPods, lip balm etc together so I can just move this from bag to bag.

This one is £22.40: https://www.elizabethscarlett.com/products/wildflower-dry-rose-everyday-pouch

There are also some limited monogrammed ones available for £21 (mostly good if your name starts with a W!)

They also have a beautiful embroidered eye mask reduced to £17.50: Orange Blossom Eye Mask – Elizabeth Scarlett

Postage is £5 on the ES website but if you like these pouches, it’s worth noting that there are a few available to order on Bloom & Wild for £32 but you can use a referral code to save £10 on your order and get free nominated day delivery.
Obviously there are fewer options to choose from on B&W, but there are a couple of really nice ones and this way the cost is only £22 including delivery. (The new autumn one is gorgeous - I’ve just ordered for my mum).

You’ll find loads of referrals for bloom & wild on the other board here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7

OMG, these are beautiful. Not bargainous, but beautiful. I always struggle to suggest things for people to buy me so I think the hummingbird design is going on my wishlist. Thank you for the recommendation.

IlovePond · 13/09/2025 19:38

Here’s the husky socks too:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Unisex-Adult-Husky-Socks

Both sets of socks are lovely quality. The dog socks come in a plain white box - quite sturdy. I was surprised that the husky socks came in a nice blue/patterned and sealed gift box. I wish I had bought more pairs!

The husky socks are unisex, but on the big side, so more men’s socks, probably.

I’ve used these before for photo baubles. They have a good offer on at the moment if you buy more than one - best offer is 6 for £30. I have a couple on my tree of family members who used to spend Christmas with us but are no longer here. Not to everyone’s taste (we have to hide my FIL in the tree because my MiL would be horrified he’s a bauble, but he’d love it and so do we).
