The Christmas Bargain Thread No 2 - The one where it all went very fast

1000 replies

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/09/2025 18:32

Posting on behalf of @Reastie as I'm guessing she's busy and the last thread was almost full.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Not the biggest bargain, but rather lovely for stockings or in crackers, set of 6 matchbook sized packs of seed balls for £12.20 including delivery. Each one contains a different mix if seats related to the illustration (for birds, butterflies, hedgehogs etc).

There are usually 10% discounts for NOTHS kicking around too.

annabannan · 12/09/2025 20:13

Any Argos codes out there?

LostMyRubySlippers · 12/09/2025 20:22

Asda have this wicked duvet cover reduced to £9- 50% appears when you add to basket.
There is also a rewards offer for 20% off kids bedding but I discovered they do not stack- once you activate the reward it makes the duvet full price agsin & then takes the 20% off 🤦‍♀️
Meant I then had to check out as a guest!

I absolutely love these threads. Can I ask for advice? My Christmas list is mostly men, and women who don't like traditional 'women's' gifts (make up, bath stuff, etc etc). What do people buy for men or women who don't like that sort of thing? I struggle every year!

How about lovely knitwear? I feel like everyone likes new gloves or wrist warmers!
Or a fluffy hot water bottle is a good gift!

I was bought seed balls last summer as part of my birthday present.......the squirrels loved them!! Dug them all up and ate them! 🙈 Cheeky little things! This year they ate my little boys sunflowers that he lovingly planted!

" I feel like everyone likes new gloves or wrist warmers!"

Genuine question, every year I see wrist warmers on this thread and I don't really understand them. I can't think of a single person I've ever known wear them either. Why wouldn't you just wear gloves?

Newmummy343 · 12/09/2025 21:15

Thank you so much, I've ordered for my niece what a great deal!

Flyingten · 12/09/2025 21:16

Sorry how are people getting extra discount on M&S or am I misunderstanding? I do have the offer but it won't come off sale items!

I prefer them because my fingers are free, I wear them a lot when I’m in the car waiting for team sports to finish so I can turn the pages of my book!

I love the ones I got last year from Celtic & co when they did a £20 off voucher code!

weareallqueens · 12/09/2025 21:23

I like to be able to do things with my fingers (use my phone, feel things in my bag, scratch my face) when I’m wearing gloves.

Wrist warmers or fingerless gloves don’t suit me, I ride a bike and just haven’t found them warm enough.

A friend who works in a nursery says they are invaluable, though. When she’s outside with the children she needs her fingers free to help them with things, but the gloves keep the rest of her hands warm.

Two Tiptree advent calendars are out. Not especially bargainous but very nice gifts (or for self treating!) and currently with free delivery. I gifted a Tiptree jam set a couple of years ago and the recipient said it was really lovely: https://www.tiptree.com/collections/advent-calendars

It must have been a glitch, or maybe on top of offers that were less than 30% off. T&Cs state offer excludes sale items

I wear my fingerless gloves when working from home in winter so I can still use the keyboard and mouse properly.

dd wears hers outdoors every winter so she can still use her phone and do things like buy lunch and pay for things without having to remove her gloves.

I wear mine working from home too. My sister wears hers over normal gloves as her hands get very cold!

Argh! Just realised I accidentally bought the M&S beauty box yesterday, along with a larger order. I put it in my basket and forgot to remove it. Do they allow returns of toiletries?

Yes, as far as I know. Sometimes things (not necessarily at M&S) say not returnable if seal is broken, but you won’t need to open your box so I think you will be fine.

You could contact customer services in the morning and see what they say, so it will be on your records before the parcel is delivered. Once you get into their online chat system I’ve found them very helpful in the past.

There is a TA at my DDs school, I know she has rheumatoid arthritis and always wears these all year round, she needs her fingers to help with the kids. My MIL has used them since having a bad fall, she’s feeling the cold more than she use to and these are perfect for her to wear around the house and still do things she wants.

im trying to get my DDs to wear some for school but they are having none of it.

Fillybuster · 12/09/2025 23:44

Someone shared a Cult Beauty discount code earlier this thread which was slightly better than the welcome 15% discount I mistakenly replaced it with…..please could you reshare as I can’t find it? And thank you!

Edit: found it! Thank you @GameOfJones

DressOrSkirt · 13/09/2025 06:17

There are lots of the collectable Harry Potter wands on sale on the official website for £10.50. Mostly Fantastic Beasts characters but they are normally £32!

Theraffarian · 13/09/2025 06:50

@PearlsPearl the cashmere wrist warmers are so useful if you feel the cold . My office heating is absolutely guaranteed to break down once a year and usually takes a few weeks to get fixed . The wrist warmers add an extra layer and I can still type etc . When the temperature really drops I wear them at home too , they aren’t really a substitute for gloves but a completely separate item , and I don’t have to remove them to cook etc , just push them a little higher up to wash hands etc .
