The Christmas Bargain Thread No 2 - The one where it all went very fast

1000 replies

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/09/2025 18:32

Posting on behalf of @Reastie as I'm guessing she's busy and the last thread was almost full.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

I think this is a pricing error but Biscuiteers have their Christmas hamper tin priced at £20. 18% off with SWEET18.
I wasn’t sure about the freshness so I’ve selected delivery for 1st Dec and keeping my fingers crossed that they don’t cancel.
Nice biscuits, great for grandparents or those that have everything

www.biscuiteers.com/biscuits/christmas-hamper-biscuit-tin

That does sound like a great price compared to their regular prices, but I received a tin last Christmas and was hugely disappointed. Yes, the tin looked nice but the handmade biscuits were rock hard. Having looked up the price of £40! for less than a dozen biscuits, just showed I must have a common palate because I would much rather have a box of Viennese biscuits from marks for a fraction of the price.

Thank you for all the great bargains!
All my DS3 wants this year is an “ambulance with doors that open”. Has anyone one spotted any good ones? I’ve seen a great looking playmobil one, but he might be a bit young.

We had a bruder ambulance. Found it very robust

Have I read that right - a tin with 9 biscuits in. Not an actual hamper???

Yes, that's what I thought! The theme of the biscuits are "Christmas Hamper". They're just iced biscuits!

Serenitesanta · 08/09/2025 20:46

Hello hello everyone 🧑🏻‍🎄😇🧑🏻‍🎄
I’m so glad to be back!!
But I am not happy.
I’ve three heated throws in my basket but it says they can’t be delivered to Northern Ireland 🤷‍♀️
Any thoughts? I love the coloured ones

Our B and M is sadly lacking in the Christmas tea towels , but they are in the middle of putting things out , so perhaps by next week .

For anyone that uses a paper diary , they had ones that match my specific requirements, just in case yours are the same ! £3.50 , decent hard cover , pages thick enough to write on , spiral bound , an elastic ribbon that hold all my excess paper in place , A5 , and with pages for notes , week to a double page . Realised just how particular I am as I typed all that out , so probably just me !

Nope I’m that particular too. I’m off to B&m then. I hate thin paper

Ewock · 08/09/2025 21:01

I went to B&M today, they'd sold.out of the oreo cookie milkshake set. However I did pick up 2 wicked bath fizzers and a football set of bath fizzers. They had a fair bit of xmas stick in and were clearing shelves ready for more.

Ewock · 08/09/2025 21:01

Xmas stock not stick!

SpottyBumPony · 08/09/2025 21:14

I've bought from biscuiteers before and been disappointed. Fairly standard tasting biscuits, I'll admit they were a nice theme but if I have a biscuit I wasn't to eat it not look at it. The tin was a normal metal box with printed paper stuck to it.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 08/09/2025 21:15

Happyinthecorner · 08/09/2025 20:21

Yep, they sell very spenny but beautiful biscuits

That's all good, but they are very misleading in their advertising and that's Fortnum & Mason type prices for a few iced biscuits. I wouldn't call that a bargain, personally. I notice they have a few bad reviews too.

@Oneborneverydecade @ChristmasMad1
Not a bargain, but Estella Bartlett have this lucky cat pendant which is quite sweet. I’m considering it for my DD16 but £25 is not cheap and I’m worried that it looks cheaper than that. They also do a bracelet and earrings and offer discount schemes for students etc.
Lucky Cat

Love this. Thanks for posting

No idea about these particular biscuits but I guess what people call a bargain is very personal depending on what you would normally pay. I don’t consider a lot of the clothes/bags and almost all the beauty stuff on these threads a bargain as I would never pay the normal price for them but if you would then to you it’s a bargain.
But yes wouldn’t want people to be drawn in on these threads if they have bad reviews

hby9628 · 08/09/2025 21:40

@Ewockim trying to find the Oreo milkshake sets too! There was nothing in my local at the weekend but I’m hopeful there’s still plenty of stock incoming 🤞

OnionBag · 08/09/2025 21:42

I’ve had the biscuiteer biscuits before and they’re very average tasting. Definitely aesthetics over quality.

MaybeMrs · 08/09/2025 21:46

Where were the Oreo milkshake sets please?

FortnumsWeddingBreakfastTeaPlease · 08/09/2025 21:46

Any bargainous gifts for a 5yo girl? Birthday season is upon us now we're back at school...

I'm with you. I've never had such solid biscuits! Not my cup of tea at all.

I’ve been on these threads for quite a few years now and I think it’s important to remember the spirit in which they are intended. Some posts can come across a bit short, especially when something isn’t perceived as ‘bargainous’. Let’s keep it friendly as it’s a really useful community.

You could send the parcel to me in Scotland and I can send it on via Evri. I think I used them for NI recently although I know the first company I tried wouldn’t let me send a baby gift over!! Ridiculous! Not sure how much it would cost you through for the second lot of postage. If you want to do this and send me a private message can you tag me here first please as I always forget to check messages!

Serenitesanta · 08/09/2025 22:06

Thank you Jock, you’re definitely acting in the spirit of these threads 🤶 but i don’t want the hassle/expense at this stage, I’ll wait to see if something similar comes up that I can get posted straight to me. But thank you

Newmum331 · 08/09/2025 22:08

House of Fraser have some lovely wooden toys on sale. I haven’t ordered from them before though so I’m not sure on the quality.

LostMyRubySlippers · 08/09/2025 22:14

Just gone back on to order some of the rainbow gloves but the price has doubled now!

Notlongnow1 · 08/09/2025 22:15

@christmassylove another big fan of Yoto here. We have 2 original and 2 mini and I would replace any in an instant it they died 😂 Wait for a sale though as fairly regularly have up to 20% off and as far as I can remember that stacks with referral code. If anyone has any yoto questions feel free to pm and happy to answer so as not to derail the thread. Will also shout if I see any offers or upcoming sale dates!

A site I use every year is Bargain Buys for Busy Mums. Use the ‘Latest Bargains’ tab. I have had some great buys through using it - though you do have to be quick if it’s an Amazon link, as the Amazon price drops don’t often last long.

Thanks for sharing @Happyinthecorner - agree they are great gifts for ‘those who have everything’

The Biscuiteers are a fancy London iced biscuit company in Notting Hill, and their other tins are all around £40+ so it’s a pricing glitch / error that is a bargain, relatively speaking.

I got a similar ‘xmas hamper’ tin back in 2021? 2022? for a client gift and it was £35 back then.
