This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Gruum have a free mystery gift for postage and a sale on at the moment.

Postage is free if you spend £30. DD1 likes their sleep spray so I might stock up to get the free postage (and put a sleep spray in her stocking!!).

@MamaK19 there's someone called Nikki's Crochet Treasures who sells on a Facebook group I'm in, maybe try her? She has an etsy page too. I haven't bought from her because sadly not got anyone to buy for but they look beautiful and you can choose your colours, which makes me think she will be flexible on product commissions too. And there's time!

My eldest DD (nearly 5) is adamant that Santa will make her a hash Brown toy 🫣 I have scoured the internet I can find fries and nugget shaped toys but no hash browns - I figured if they exist this thread would be the one to find them - please help meeeeee 😭😭🤣🤣🫣🫣

If you have any local selling groups it may be worth asking if anyone had a 3D printer, you could then customise to whatever your daughter is expecting!

We did this when DS asked for very specific play food for his kitchen Grin

Thanks to pp for Whistlefish recommendation- wrapping papers are gorgeous 😍

I'm looking for some Christmas hand towels. Ideally want something good quality to last several years and maybe a bit classy 😁 Don't really know what exactly, but I'll know it when I see it!

MaybeMrs · 25/08/2025 08:45

I got my wrapping paper from Whistlefish last year, as well as my cards. All beautiful. I’ve just ordered for this year 😍

We have loads of nursery parties to attend. Can anyone recommend cheap but tat toys I can stock up on? We have four in September alone!

I usually search Amazon.

not necessarily toys but crayola is my go to. I bulk buy pens/ pencils and then purchase things such as the craft stuff and/colouring books.

I also keep an eye out for discounted games etc

I got this for about 10 birthday parties in the last 12 months for 4 year olds. It has been very well received and at just over £6 (I did manage to get some at £5 actually in the Tesco entertainer stores), I was happy that it looked substantial without breaking the bank!

@Reastie - thank you for starting the thread!

Here as always to share any bargains I stumble upon. Having the entire family's bdays and Christmas within 4 weeks (yes, we should have planned better 🙈) means I really need this thread!

Ooh hello how exciting- love this thread. I normally lurk a bit but this year we have a 7 month old with a January birthday and my wife is on Mat leave so things are a bit tight. Will have to be more organised than usual!

Congratulations :) obviously at 11 month old baby won't need much. I even put toothbrushes in DS's 1st stockings. At 15 months and 3 yrs this year they will be getting them in there again.

For January birthday. My birthday is mid-January. I always hated it. But I think that is because I was taught to hate it. It even falls on Blue Monday every few years.

People are broke, the lights are down, everyone is trying lose weight! My birthday always felt like more of a burden rather than a wonderful thing.

Anyway, if I had a January baby, I think I would try have experiences as their gift. I often now like to have a small break in January it is lovely. I would also have a 'summer' gift that DC gets to choose to be bought at the start of the summer holidays or similar. It felt like a long time from January to December waiting to ask for a new toy.

AuntieDen · 25/08/2025 09:33

not sure they're a bargain exactly but just a headsup that the bodyshop advent calendars are now online

There's also an extra 10% off at Portmeirion with code EXTRA10 - someone on the last thread was looking for Christmas crockery I think? The Sophie Conran Mistletoe stuff is lovely, I got some half price serving dishes in the sales last year that I plan to fill with homemade sweets as gifts this year and they are really pretty.

Thanks for the tip. I just bought a Sainsbury's gift card. Just waiting for it to track (email just appeared as I'm typing!).

I’ve a 13 month old boy and a 10 month old girl to buy for this Xmas. I was thinking mega blocks? Would you appreciate these for your toddlers. My DCs are 18&20 now so I’ve no idea but do remember that the blocks got many years of play.

Alternatively, any ideas welcome. Even better if it’s a bargain!

Mine had both duplo and mega blocks and got much more use of the duplo. They loved the wee number train but there are loads of great sets, and they’re still using them now at 6 and 8.

I’ve previously got Christmas hand towels from Dunelm and I got some lovely thick ones last year from Matalan. I went back to get some more as I liked them so much but they’d sold out.
