This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Discount Dragon are legit but do be aware they sell short dated items, thus the big discounts.

PearlsPearl · 24/08/2025 19:17

I’ve a 13 month old boy and a 10 month old girl to buy for this Xmas. I was thinking mega blocks? Would you appreciate these for your toddlers. My DCs are 18&20 now so I’ve no idea but do remember that the blocks got many years of play.

Alternatively, any ideas welcome. Even better if it’s a bargain!

Asda has some good wooden toys there is a bbq for £13 or so and an ice cream parlour and also a tool bench; it’s more for when they are older but it will be a good present to grow into for them

Been on the the threads for a number of years but I have to say, last year's Nespresso machine with 80 capsules glitching for £20 was my favourite bargain.

Same!!

CrimboPourLesKids · 24/08/2025 20:24

Checking in, these threads are great thank you. My kids are under 5yo so never had to do this before really. Last year the tree decorations were very important.

Aldi November specials on wooden kids toys are great

I mentioned Discount Dragon further up thread but just to add that they are doing 10% off when you spend £50. Just had another search and there is Charlotte Tilbury, Urban Decay and Lancôme products if you search for beauty. As earlier poster mentioned, this is a completely legitimate website, they always use RM for delivery. I’ve ordered from them lots of times and had no problems. They buy clearance and bulk stock and this is why they sell it off so cheaply!

Also looking for ideas for a Christmas wedding as in table decorations
So marking for a return to thread

My DSis got married close to Christmas. She bought some mini potted trees from our local market (something like leylandii - they looked Christmassy). They had similar little potted trees in other shops at the time. Then she bought some sets of battery powered lights from Poundland. Little wooden stars, little red berry type balls, little metal stars. They all looked lovely! Also, mistletoe from a local florist.

@BeetlebumAndBackAgain thanks!

As already mentioned there's an extra 10% off over £50.
There's also a 12 pack of fun size Mars bars for 1p (free after the 10% off) limited to one person order.
Attached photo of my full haul!

Could someone help me out of the Sol de janeiro craze please? Got an 11 year old relative to buy for - is there a safe ish bet item please?

You will be safe with any. Between my 11 & 13 yo DDs they have most of them. In boots with my11yo the other day and I had to drag her away from them all.

They both like the little set, with the cream and body wash as they can take them on holiday and sleepovers.

MamaK19 · 24/08/2025 22:44

My eldest DD (nearly 5) is adamant that Santa will make her a hash Brown toy 🫣 I have scoured the internet I can find fries and nugget shaped toys but no hash browns - I figured if they exist this thread would be the one to find them - please help meeeeee 😭😭🤣🤣🫣🫣

Mega blocks are fantastic at this age. We had the same mega block table and blocks that lasted us 3 children, they even went in the bath. DD1 got them as a 1st birthday present and I regifted them about 9+ years later still in great condition.

If anyone uses PayPal they currently have an offer on their app 20% cashback on George.com

(not sure if it’s account specific?!)

Very random but have you tried looking for a dog toy? I have seen lots of different food shaped dog toys.
Problem with hash brown is it’s hardly a distinctive shape! You could ask someone to knit one? But basically they would be knitting a brown blob

This reminds me of a couple of years ago my DD wanted fake McDonald’s food, was convinced Santa was bringing it, he finally found some on shein/temu or somewhere like that.

Dose she want for role play or a cuddly one?

I found this on Etsy.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1402383756/hash-brown-pet-hashed-browns-hashbrown

Did jelly cat do one? I know they have done potatoes, nuggets etc. There is nothing on their website but it may be an old one.

Maybe check out some cheap toy shops, we live near somewhere that has a lot of “cheap & fake” shops so can find al sorts of random bits. This seems like something you could get in a bag of plastic kitchen food in a toy shop.

Or if you can crochet or know someone that can maybe get one crocheted for her.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 24/08/2025 23:26

@MamaK19 There's a pattern for a rather cute crochet one available on Etsy if you can find someone to make it. I've asked on local community groups in the past (when my DD also made extremely random requests) and found crafters who were happy to do so for very reasonable prices.

How have I never seen this thread before?? I love it ! Tonight I have bought stuff on Argos 3 for £20 , kitchen aid scissors and Elizabeth Arden exfoliating cleanser! Thanks all ❤️🎄

Blessedbethefruitz · 24/08/2025 23:54

@Badknitter That's an amazing idea! I've been buying 2x bloody squishmallows separately for the last 2 months because my kids only eat vast amounts of nuggets, but my youngest is in excellent playmobil age! Thanks!

Matalan often have food related small plushies by the tills, may be worth checking? I can’t see any of them on their website but I’ve definitely seen them in store.

MamaK19 · 25/08/2025 01:33

@Chocolateteabag
Amazing thank you so much I have one added to my basket to order if I can’t find anything more bargainous over the next month

@Cuwins
Haha I haven’t but I think maybe that is where I am going to find a proper one, I have a feeling she means a cuddly one but I will try and get out of her the specifics 🤣🤣

@ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS
I’m glad it’s not just my child, im like really?! You want a hashbrown the worlds apparently rarest toy 🫣🤣 I think it’s a cuddly version she is after but I need to get some finer details from her 🤣

@CoffeeAndEnnui
Ah brill yes I think I will double check with our local little group of crafters although I imagine it will likely come our similar or more spenny than the one that chocolateteabag managed to find

@Cos1970
Ooh thank you I need to take some bits back so I will have a look while I’m there 🤞

As always my favourite little corner of mn has saved Christmas again - the big man has nothing on all of you 🤣🤣thank you!!
